I love Valu Market - Mid City Mall as a grocery store option ! In the middle of Highlands neighborhood! They have more International options, local options and unique products ! Bought 2 drinks yesterday - one for me & one for my boyfriend! Enjoyable!

I stopped in today 4/23/24 around noon, for an item I needed. As I was walking towards the checkout I heard someone speaking very loudly. It was woman employee in a red shirt berating a man. She kept yelling pay or get out. I believe this man is homeless. A gentleman came and stood behind this employee. He was probably the manager. He did nothing to defuse this situation. I was appalled at what I was witnessing. There was about 15 of us (cashiers and customers) and everyone was smiling/laughing at this poor man who just wanted some food. I wish I would have thought to pay for his food but I was just flabbergasted at the situation. Doesn't anybody have compassion anymore? I suggest training for all of your employees on how to handle this kind of situation in the future and/or remove this employee from your establishment.

It's nice to at least have a grocery store in walking distance although the management here clearly doesn't care. The store is always filthy. No pride of ownership. Much (not all) of the staff have bad hygiene. The self check out lanes have been "broken" for years and don't take customer loyalty information. Horribly lazy leadership.

Good local (yes I know it's not really local) grocery. Locals in the neighborhood can walk, bike, or stop on their way home and find an excellent selection of fresh fruit and veggies, and a little less impressive selection of other food items, though I not sure what they don't have that you might need.It's clean and well lit with a deli counter, fresh breads and pastries (assuming cuz I didn't actually get any).Store staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a less corporate experience.Parking is a non-issue because it is located in a small mall that has large lots front and back.Worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood or passing by and you have the time, even if you don't need anything in particular.

I tried going in for just 4 items today. One checkout lane indicated as open. There was no attendant. I went to another lane. Upon checking out the customer in front of me the attendant walked away without saying why. After waiting for minutes I just left. Employees need to communicate better and realize that the customer does not need the store. The store NEEDS the customer. I will shop elsewhere.

Why do places like this make it harder to shop local? I stopped in on my walk back from a coffee shop and was told i have to leave my backpack at the unsecured front counter. With a laptop inside, i don’t want to leave it unattended/unsecured, and so was asked to leave. I guess I’ll just go to Kroger where I’m not treated like a criminal.

I encountered two rude employees at the cigarette section who ignored me for about 4 minutes before doing their job because they wanted to have happy hour. Then as I checked out my cashier was so full of apathy I sensed she may be gone to the dark abyss never to return. I just dropped in there to get a plate lunch from the deli the chicken had so much fat on itIt was like it hadn't been cleaned at all!!I will not eat from there again

Kinda of outdated for a grocery but word on the streets is that they are getting new scanners.. yay value market. Best plate lunch in the city. They even carry Drake Cakes a.k.a. Ring Dings. Ladies on the hot side of the deli are always very helpful. Also they have an actual butcher in the meat dept. Meat always looks fresh and not dye injected, and the prices in this dept are very reasonable. Truly the neighborhood market.

Always thought that the valu market was a little bit pricier than the larger chains BUT now it's on par or CHEAPER so I find myself there more and more often.And don't forget that they have the Worlds BEST fried chicken!!!Woohooooo..thanks valu market!

Well, now I get to be back in the store with all those good people and great selections of foods. It's almost like nationality store with different baked goods. Come in for a bite for lunch or shop for your home. Either way is good. I'm starting to be in there 2 or even 3 times a week. Friendly crew, Great manager and Assistant manager. Visit the deli, alot of food, variety beyond your imagination. Wow and the baked goods, the sweets , gotta have a little bit of that to finish the day with a smile. Actually wanting to go back for more. It's ran so nice between the great crew , clean environment, the wonderful help, and you find things in there you don't see in the big local grocery stores. That's why I love to shop around. People always ask where did you find that. I love it! Just for getting around and helping out the community, not to mention helping out my best friend, who actually works there. Test them out. I did! If you don't see something, just ask and watch how well they treat you. Don't make demands of people , be nice like you like to be treated , and you'll notice a big difference in anywhere you go. Thanks Value Market for everything!!!

The deli/food gets 5 stars! The employees that work back there are friendly! The mashed potatoes are also the best. The location is convenient, however that’s where the good stuff ends. Prices are high and the customer service from everyone not behind the deli counter is poor at best.

Because I have done my grocery at this location for over 30 years, I consider the store and the folks who work there as part of my life. They have great produce and really try to have fresh local produce. I prefer to get my meat here - they have "Amish" chickens and other select locally grown meat. It's a small store with a little bit of a lot. I like talking with them when I visit. Very friendly.

Have only shopped here a few times, but it has always been an enjoyable experience. The store is not too large, but still contains an adequate selection of groceries, meats and fresh produce. I've never gotten anything from their Deli, but it looks bright and inviting. Not really a super "Value" store, but prices on most items are equivalent to prices found at other chain stores like Kroger. There is ample parking in the Mid City Mall lot, with entrances on both the Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue sides.

Their stock rotation is terrible, my friend bought protein shakes the day before a surgery and didn't realize they had expired until after she had begun drinking it and it was bad. They are literally selling expired food at full price. Produce is also not fresh sometimes. The registers are from probably 30+ years ago and sometimes the employees struggle with the manual entry codes. I avoid shopping here. They do however, have some local products. Maybe if it were cheaper I would shop here for convenience but I'd rather make the trek to aldi.

So consistently impressed with their service! That is literally something I have never said about a grocery store...ever. They are not only are easy to find, but the staff are friendly and helpful. They have gone above and beyond to help me find items. There is also a huge organic/alternative section, so more adventurous or diet-restricted eaters will be so pleased.

They always have delicious produce that's very fresh. Their Deli is fantastic. They have a great craft beer and wine section and selection. A wonderful Seafood counter. They also have a great vegan and international section. My only problem with the place is it's a little overpriced.

I was very surprised by this store. It made my little Vegan heart smile! They had some great options for Vegans. Small but STILL options! Organic and Non-GMO. I was relieved. Its hard to find decent food when you live downtown, ESPECIALLY when you are vegan and they're just aren't enough stores like this.

Valu Market sells very small cheese samples so you can explore flavors to discover what you like at a low cost.The Valu Market walk-in 🍺 beer area always has great beer from our region and abroad. The selection of German beers is especially impressive.Staff is friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer any questions you may have and assist. Just ask.

Fine if you just need to pick up a few things. Expensive, compared to Kroger. I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here for that reason. As far as supply, though, it is as good as any. I thought the quality of the produce was exceptional. I did not get anything, but I thought the food in the Deli dept looked good, too.

The bakery just made the best cake I’ve ever seen. It was so beautiful. I’ve always thought Valu Market cakes tasted the best and this one was no exception. I asked for an “ocean/beach” theme and this cake went beyond all of my expectations. You have really outdone yourselves. I will be back for all of my cake needs and tell all of my friends to do the same.
