This used to be one of my favorite places to take my cars, but they have gone all the way downhill. Since when did you have to ask for fluids to be checked for an oil change?!? But you knew my cam shafts were leaking? Smh for the amount I spent for the oul change, I could have gone to the Mercedes dealership. At least my fluids can be checked. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

My partner and I had an awful experience with Tachyon. Given their overall consensus of positive reviews, it seems unlikely that we were outright scammed, but they were extremely negligent.We took her car here to see if they could diagnose and fix whatever was causing it to groan while driving. We explicitly stated before bringing it in that this is what we wanted fixed. After driving it home a couple of days later, it was immediately apparent by the groaning that they had not fixed it.We called to inquire about this, and apparently there was some kind of miscommunication about how we wanted them to go about fixing it when they called us after the initial diagnosis. They were somehow under the impression that we didn't want them to fix what we brought it in for.They were willing to have us bring it in again ASAP so they could see about fixing it. This time, we put even greater emphasis on the fact that we only wanted them to fix the source of the groan, and they agreed that they wouldn't do anything else with the car that wasn't related to fixing that.They called us a few days later and claimed it was fixed. After driving it home a second time, her car was still groaning. It should have been OBVIOUS to anyone driving it more than 30 seconds that her car was not fixed. Not only did we waste time that could've been spent taking it to a more capable mechanic, we've also wasted thousands of dollars in service bills because we trusted them to fix what they said they could fix.I strongly recommend those seeking a quality mechanic to look elsewhere.

They did the work within a days time and under the cost estimate that they quoted me so I will definitely recommend them to all my friends and family members. I will update as they diag my car but today already blew me away.I had my car towed from my home to them, which is roughly 45 mins. The tow truck driver definitely took his time and they closed at 6. As this is in the middle of Louisville I was a little worried with my Honda sitting outside plus we have some bad weather coming in and as I drive a really old Honda I was even more worried about rain since it does leak. (My old Honda owners understand I hope) I did have the car covered, but the driver couldn’t leave it on the car which I understood.I told the lady’s on the phone my stresses and they asked a tech to stay and wait on my car! He pulled it in, poor guy waited until 6:30/6:45. But I couldn’t be more thankful thus far. This is my second car I’ve brought as my first was a 98 3000gt and they were as caring back then as they are now. I wish I lived closer to this shop as it helps to have them fix the things I can’t fix on my own, and it’s a wonderful place if you have a older car, oddball car or any car you’d like a reliable place.They look at my car on Monday, today is Friday. I will update this as I receive more news but this absolutely made my day and helped tremendouslyEdit: turns out my car popped a headgasket, they did an amazing job. My wife and I were driving through Louisville from Dallas on our way to upstate NY. Our 2011 Audi Q5 (with 83,000 miles) suddenly lost power on I-64 as we entered the city. The car went into “limp mode” and could not be driven. We had it towed to an import repair shop in Louisville in the Irish Hill area, left the Audi, and rented a car to continue on our way.Although it was expensive, we received a solid diagnosis from the car “doctors” at the first shop. However, their repair estimate was also very high, so we called various other shops that also had good reviews and came highly recommended from Jeff at Autowerkstatt (who would have repaired our car if he wasn’t so busy himself).Tachyon Performance gave us a reasonable quote for the repairs we needed. We had the Audi towed there and they had the car repaired and ready for us as we swung back through on our way home to Dallas.

I've been going there for years. They have worked on at least three of my vehicles now and I've been very satisfied. The owner Chris has always been a friendly guy, even rode with me once so I could explain what was going on with my car. Melanie in the office is also friendly. I always try to recommend local homegrown businesses and this is one I highly recommend 👌 👍

I’ve taken my cars here for many years. They’ve always been up front about repairs and preventative measures. They really stepped up recently when we went in for an oil change right before a road trip. The rear brakes were bad and they got the parts as fast as they could so we could have a safe trip. Their crew is awesome!

They know their stuff! I had a very complex AC issue that involved wiring, the cars computer, a non-standard sensor and a compressor from another model of car. Tachyon was the forth shop to attempt this repair and the shop that fixed it. After some conversation with the owner this has become the only place I will take my car. I highly recommend!

These guys are the best. I’m almost hesitant to write this review because I don’t want the secret to get out, but they deserve all the praise. They are the most honest, fair, knowledgeable mechanics in town. They have worked on my last 2 cars and they take care of me every time. If you want an honest mechanic that is super affordable and knows their stuff, tachyon is your place! No fancy waiting rooms or loaner vehicles that would need to be paid for by jacking your prices up. Just badass, hardworking mechanics that seem to be few and far between these days. I've used Tachyon for about 7 years. They always do a good job on my older imports. They keep my cars running, give me honest advice and do repairs for a fair price. They do get busy at times and sometimes a job will take longer than i would like, but I don't mind waiting since it's always done well. I recommend this place to all my friends.

These guys are great. I called in to schedule an appointment and dropped my car off on a Friday morning. After diagnosing the problem I got a call and the quote to fix it was a little more than I expected but I am a lawyer and not a mechanic. After breaking down the parts and labor by an agent of this shop the quote made a lot of sense. They fixed my car the same day and I picked it up late Friday evening. When I went to pay, they charged me less than the quoted amount and they had actually done more exploratory work than I initially asked them to do and requested to be performed after authorizing the repairs. So I paid less than quoted and got more work done. Doesn't always work that way. A shop that is honest and performs quality work is a diamond in the rough. Other shops will quote you less than they will and if you don't care about having confidence of being able to get to work then by all means go else where. Otherwise go to them because they live and breathe mechanical work. Some moron rated them with 1 star but you will always have someone like that looking to crap on someone's reputation.

Used this place for a pre purchase inspection, they had one of the best prices around for is and did a great job. They found a few things that needed to be worked on after purchase their total price for replacing the timing belt and water pump, plus machining and replacing the head gaskets was the same price some places wanted for doing just one of those things. Also, they had a shop dog in the waiting area and that was pretty cool. Overall this a great no-nonsense mechanic.

USE THIS SHOP. Seriously, I will never take my car elsewhere. I had a friend recommend this shop to me and have been using them for about two years now and they continue to gain my trust. They are professional and knowledgeable. The guys have a polite way of being know-it-alls and I absolutely respect this attitude because they know what they are doing and they do it very well, and affordably. I always had a distrust for auto mechanics in the past but Tachyon has changed that for me, I always leave with my hands smelling like their giant shop-dog, a smile on my face, and a perfectly tuned automobile.

Wouldn't trust my cars to anyone else. I've known these guys for years and they can be gruff because they don't suffer fools lightly. They know more about imports than anyone in town, so drop off your car, trust that they're not trying to screw anyone over, and pay the bill on time. You can get hosed by a really friendly dealership, or deal with reasonably priced local business that is hires people who know cars rather than those who can fake smiles.

Had a great time working with these guys. They did everything i needed for my exhaust and then some. They were a little stand offish but don't let that discourage you. The price was wonderful for the work they did and they worked very well with my schedule. I will continue to use them for all my vehicle exhausts from now on.Thanks guys

I had a good experience at Tachyon yesterday -- took in my car that had already been looked at by two other shops in Louisville, neither one could accurately diagnose the problem. Tachyon had it for an hour, charged me a reasonable fee for a proper and thorough diagnostic, and figured out the issue -- now it's up and running smoothly again. I'll be taking my cars there in the future when any issues pop up.

I couldn't believe the quality of work that was produced. I'm really tough to please from the get-go and this shop far exceeded my expectations. I gave them a car that was half taken apart that I couldn't finish and they made it work beautifully.I gave them a laundry list of items and questions and a lot of back and forth and they took my phone calls when they were available and answered my questions whenever I needed.They did a custom exhaust and a custom gauge pod that replaced my ashtray and it looks so good most of my friends and family assumed that it came with it from the factory, they matched the grain perfectly using some crazy technology but the results were superb. Can't wait to bring my Miata up there to see what they can do!

So i was a bit hesitant to bring my car to Tachyon due to a couple bad reviews here and there but there were also some pretty good ones and i needed someone quick. They were able to look at my car quickly but thats where the good stopped. They actually broke a part on my car while trying to fix what I brought it in for, then they tried saying it was like that when i brought it in when i know for a fact it wasnt. they said they would fix it but they were going to have to charge for it. They also charge WAY more than most other garages around. I tried nicely asking them to fix what they broke and they refused. I wound up having to pay for something they broke. It gets worse. after they "fixed" my initial issue, i started to drive it home and it broke again, i brought it back and told them it was broke again and they said they could look at it again but it would cost me for them to look at it... What?!?!Save yourself some money and some headaches and dont use these guys.

I took my son's 2012 VW Jetta GLI there for a second time. The first repair went very well. The second time was for a different repair. They researched it and told me that VW had extended the warranty for that particular problem and that I should take it to the dealer. And they didn't even charge me. I was very impressed and very appreciative!

Worst garage ever, i brought my car in for an o2 sensor, they fixed the o2 sensor but also charge me for changing my oil WITHOUT ME ASKING, then when i tried to tell them they needed to take that off the ticket they got very very rude with me. They held my car and wouldnt give it back until i paid them for something i never asked them to do. I will never come here again.
