They have a wide variety of fish. Not many reptiles though.Very small area with reptiles and a couple of items.The fish are awesome, a great looking place, and a very friendly staff.I would recommend this place for all your fish and aquarium needs

Today was my second visit to Sandy's. I went to buy some fish for my tank. As soon as I got back to the fish section an employee offered to help me. I told him what I was looking for and he asked a few questions about my tank, like how old was it, did I have live plants, etc. so that he could make good recommendations for me. I really appreciated that! I'm a little bit new to this hobby and he gave me a lot of good advice and answered all my questions. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!

We recently came across Sandy’s, we set up a new 90 gallon aquarium about 4.5 weeks ago and are new to the fish tank lifestyle and Tiffany is always so knowledgeable and willing to help us with our tank levels. She helped us pick out a good filter too! We love this store and it has become the only pet store we shop at. Highly recommended!

My hubby and I had to stop by bc of the wonderful reviews, and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We must have spent an hour and a half at least. So much variety and everyone here is super helpful and knowledgeable about everything PET! Next time we're in Louisville, we're definitely stopping by here again!

I always loved Sandy's. Big store with a lot of things to check out. Massive fish collection if you're into building up an aquarium. Nice selection of reptiles. The ferrets they have out so you can play with them. Be careful they may bite. The only thing is I miss Peaches. She was always a highlight when I used to go. It said not to touch but she liked head rubs.

My son was given an aquarium for his birthday. I came to Sandy’s after all the fish he was given died, looking for direction and help in how to keep a successful tank. The staff is so knowledgeable. They were not interested in just making a sale, rather they helped teach me about water quality and guided me over months of weekly visits in creating a healthy aquarium environment and had me slowly add fish as the water quality warranted. I’m really grateful for the help. I’d never go anywhere else.

Love this lil pet shop. It has everything you need for your saltwater or freshwater aquarium. Staff are very friendly and professional as well as knowledgeable about everything. They have a big collection of beautiful saltwater fish. Anyone who has a saltwater aquarium, i highly recommend this place to you as well as anyone with freshwater aquarium.

I want to like them because I’d rather support local than a chain store. They sell hermit crabs, probably one of the most inhumanely sourced and kept animals in the pet trade. I hope that they are sourced from unwanted pet hermits and not from the wild. They also have bettas in small cups and sell fish bowls under the recommended size for literally any fish possible. Not to mention selling BALA SHARKS. I hope they educate people when they buy the two inch baby that it is going to outgrow their fish tank and need a 125 gallon tank or larger. These kind of fish belong in the city aquarium or in the tanks of extreme hobbyists who seek out the fish from a reputable online source — NOT sold in a pet store for the average consumer’s home. This may have been considered acceptable in the past, but now people are starting to realize how inhumane things like this are. That parrot in the back looks sad as well.

I was impressed with this shop!! I definitely want to come back sometime. From what I could tell, these animals are definitely cared for. I was impressed with the amount of fish they had available! We visited looking for a chinchilla and found an adorable one! He has been handled and cared for and he has done absolutely great with transitioning into our home and I think it is because of the careful handling and care he recieved at this pet shop. We expected him to be frightened and crying all night but he has been very sociable and inquisitive and excited about his new home!! Fantastic pet care and highly recommended!!

They sell Dumbo rats and are very knowledgeable about all the pets they sellPictures are rats we bought from them and they've all been healthy. 3 are going on 4 months and one we just added to the family!

I think I'm done with this place. I really liked the knowledge of the staff, and I love the variety of fish they have, but SO MANY of the fish I buy from there die. I have no clue why. In the last 3 days I have spent over $100 on fish here. As of today most have died. After the first one died, they checked my water, & said it was fine. & gave me 50% credit on the fish back. The PH was slightly low, but that is all. These fish should not be dying like this. I've never had this issue before. I literally bought fish a few hours ago, & the entire school of Cardinal Tetras, & 1 copper rasbora are dead. I've been here testing my water for the last half hour thinking it might be that, but everything is spot on. Might as well just set money on fire.

This is one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest pet stores that I have ever been to. I can't remember ever seeing any dead fish in the tanks. I buy a fish and aquatic plants and have always had a good experience.Sandy's stocks exotic fish, saltwater fish and coral, and supplies you won't find anywhere else in the area.The prices here are a little higher than other places but I have had much higher success rates and it seems they have much higher quality products and better bred animals.

Had a amazing time in this pet shop with my grandson and husband. As a matter of fact after an hour being there, my grandson still did not want to leave. Tori was fantastic and very knowledgeable. My grandson loved her. He wanted to go back later that day to see his new friend "Tori". Had so much fun. Make sure you check out Einstein when you go. We will be back. Such very nice people work here.

This is the best shop for aquarium needs in Louisville. The staff are knowledgeable and more helpful than in any big box store. Despite this, I am sad to see that they still keep their bettas in small cups. Even worse, they sell small fish bowls next to the bettas which suggests that is a suitable permanent set up. Bettas are tropical fish which need a heater to regulate the temperature of their water and at least 5 gallons of water is recommended to keep ammonia from spiking. The small bowls aren’t really good for anything living except for maybe some pond snails or shrimp with live plants. I would love to see them put up a disclaimer explaining this or stop selling the bowls.

The best place to get your fish, plants and any aquarium supplies. The employees are so knowledgeable and super friendly. We have a 55-gallon tank. We have purchased all of our fish from Sandy's. Plus 4 Labrador retrievers love the treats

Great place.. However the bird was very stressed. The entire time all it did was pick at its feathers. His chest and tail looked awful with the amount of missing feathers.. Definitely think they need to do something different and veterinarian care who specializes in birds.

Excellent pet store. I went from a 15 gallon aquarium to a 125 gallon cichlid tank. The advice and knowledge of the employees here have helped me successfully build a great aquarium that I really enjoy. From first cycling the tank to adding new fish, live plants, filtration, water testing, and more - these folks are top notch. The big box stores will never compare.

Sandy’s Pet Shop is all around the best place to go for your pets needs. We initially went in expecting to get another hamster but we ended up leaving with a Dumbo Rat. Calen went above and beyond to ensure we left with as much knowledge as possible, and all the supplies we needed for this new journey. It’s also very comforting to know they breed their own rats rather than buying from large mills like other corporations do. The atmosphere in Sandy’s is also unmatched. They make the experience feel personal from the beginning. Calen and Camden were more than willing to help and very knowledgeable about their animals. I cannot recommend Sandy’s more!
