We love our Petland Pup, Riley! Petland is more expensive than going to a breeder. But we found a few things worth it. First, we had no idea what type of dog we wanted (or if we wanted a dog rather than a cat), but we described the personality we want. Trey was able to tell us which pup matched that description, and he was spot on. Second, the three-year guarantee is great not necessarily because we’re banking on something happening to Riley, but because we’re more certain that something won’t if Petland will have to make up for it if it does. We also really benefited from the free vet visit, as we may have procrastinated on the first visit without that offering. Third, they gave great tips like not using puppy pads, and they provided great resources with our package. Like we wouldn’t have thought to necessarily buy treats, shampoo, a crate, etc. immediately. So while we later bought new things like a play pen, it was great to go home with the basics. The puppies are not potty trained, so I’d just watch many videos on crate training to prepare. We’re still figuring that one out a few weeks later.

I cannot say enough great things about the Petland in Lexington, KY. The two ladies working were kind and friendly and helped us pick out the right dog for my dad. They held Chuck until I could come back a few hours later with dad to get him. Chuck and dad are great together. The warranty is great as is the care taken.

Ive never left a bad review on a place, but given the circumstances I’m really upset with this Petland, and probably not for any of the reasons you may think. Two days ago I purchased a pug puppy from this location, who I was over the moon excited to adopt, as my childhood pug passed a few years ago from a heart condition, and I’m now financially stable enough to purchase another. I drove 3 HOURS away from my home in Tennessee to adopt him, because I couldn’t find a local breeder, or Petland that had any Pugs, or planned on getting any anytime soon. This was a HUGE deal to me. I was, and still am thrilled I have him.. However, on the 3 hour car ride back home he started to hack and cough with what sounded like mucus in his lungs.. it’s now almost 3 days later, and it’s not showing any signs of relief. He has a vet appointment tomorrow with my LOCAL vet, but since he’s not being taken to the 365 Vet that the Lexington KY Petland partners with, I’m going to loose my Puppy for lifetime warranty. All because I cannot make another 3 hour drive for that specific vet to do his check-up. I was completely unaware that he HAD to be taken to that exact vet, otherwise I would’ve reconsider the adoption, seeing as it’s a 3 hour distance away from me. In the policy/papers that were signed it stated that he had to be seen by a veterinarian professional in the next 7 business days of owning him, which is completely understandable. But, I wasn’t expecting it to HAVE TO BE THEIRS. I’m HIGHLY upset, and if he ends up having a respiratory infection, or a lifelong disease, this Petland will definitely be hearing from me. This is ridiculous, and VERY unfortunate.

My wife and I made an appointment to look at a puppy. We were SO excited to explore adding this pup to our growing family. We asked over the phone what kind of pricing to expect. The person on the phone told us the rep would cover all that during our appointment. As soon as we walked in and identified ourselves, I asked about pricing-again the staff intentionally dodged my question and said that she would pull that in just a moment. We are just sitting with our puppy and playing with her and are subjected to these video presentations on a tablet. The tablet does not go over the price-so I ask FOR THE THIRD TIME what the price would be. Again, the staff dodged the question-pushing it off-retreating to get more material about other things like the company-and still delaying the answer. We are shown yet another video that feels more like a public relations campaign than anything else. Side note: my wife compliments the music and Trey says "yeah we play what we want here- HIS EXACT WORDS: screw corporate". Ummm...why are you talking derogatory about Pet Land? Didn't you just spend like 30min showing me videos of why you guys are a company that is dependable, ethical, and professional?Anyways-every time they play a video-they walk away and let us hang out with the dog. I feel like this was a tactic to try and get us bonded with the dog so when they ambushed us with their sales pitch we would be attached to the cute puppy. We are finished with yet another round of videos still nothing about pricing or what to expect in their actual process-no questions about if I am a good fit for the dog or any interest in why we came for the dog-we had hit the 40min mark. But don't worry-Trey comes up and says something about getting 10% off our purchase...10% of WHAT PRICE SIR?? Finally Trey's response is "it depends if you get blah blah blah package or blah blah blah blah sales tactic blah garbage blah. " My wife says we don't want this puppy kit package and he finally tells me the puppy is 4 thousand dollars AND there are plenty of financing options available to make that payment a little easier on the wallet. It took almost an HOUR of our time to finally get a straight answer out of these people. We left-feeling frustrated, led on, and disrespected by this very clear sales process. They spout all this ethical and moral high ground fluff and yet my entire experience did not feel like I was trying to add a new fury member to my family. I felt like I was at a shady car lot. We wanted to get a puppy but the clearly sales focused "professionals" decided to try and play silly sales games. I hope this review will warn others. I will never step foot in a Pet Land again.

The manager there is super rude . It's a guy with red hair and tattoos on both arms . He's very disrespectful. I recommend getting this guy some customer service training or something. I'll never go there again

An awesome place to find your new friend, they have a variety of CKC and AKC registered puppies, also an assortment of small critters from birds to ferrets. Super clean facilities and great support staff to help you in making the right choice and get you through the process of finding your perfect companion!

The staff is nice. Though for the season, could have more than 1 employee working. My only issue is the price of the pups. 5,000+ is crazy for a puppy.

They did not want to work with me on the return of a puppy that did not work out. Just make sure you want that puppy! They took my money and I have nothing to show for it. I would give a negative review if I could. DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM THEM!!!!!

Be prepared for some issues if purchasing from pet stores such as these. We bought a puppy (on a whim impulsively) after falling in love with her. I knew the consequences associated with pet store puppies, and three days after bringing puppy home she developed kennel cough or “canine cough” as petland calls it in the send-home paperwork. Kennel cough is strongly associated with puppies and dogs kept in close quarters with other dogs and it is highly contagious. Although my puppy was given a 21 point inspection this was not detected. Also, my vet said this puppy had been over vaccinated. Otherwise, we are happy with our puppy and love her so much. We do not support the pet store puppy activities, however, we feel we did rescue this sweet baby as the other larger puppies were being very rough with her. I can’t say I would recommend going to this place for a puppy, adopt or find a small breeder location instead

This place does not deserve a single star. Racist mangers, sick dogs that aren’t even purebred and not worth the price or time. Corporate is horrible at dealing with issues. Don’t give them your money.

We have bought 2 puppies from Petland. One from the Ashland location and one from the Lexington location. Both locations have friendly staff, and they have multiple ways for you to buy a puppy.

I do not recommend getting your puppies from here they are $4,500+ and they come with Giardia. They dont take good care of them at all, our puppy we bought was said to be healthy and in good condition but he (like i just mentioned) has Giardia and he has small seizures. Don’t even consider this place for a puppy.

We went in wanting to look at a shihzu puppy. I have experience with this breed and know that 5200 for a puppy is LUDICROUS!! Yes they have all the vetting they need but I could buy a registered puppy from a very good breeder and get all the vet work done for less then half that price. I also didn’t like the fact that every time my husband would ask the price they would steer in another direction and continue to tell us about everything they have done for the puppy. She then spit out the price almost so fast we didn’t hear her and then she walked away. Yes the puppy for life aspect is wonderful but how can they stay in business with prices like that. I won’t be going back!!

I only give 3 stars, because the employees are very nice and knowledgeable… however, these dogs are wayyyy overpriced! I was very interested in purchasing a dog, until I heard the price. Asking $5,200 for a mini poodle 😳😳. I know mini poodles are pricey, but you can get the same type of dog and benefits from a smaller breeder for $2,500 or less! Prices are ridiculous here.. they try to say the price is because of all the “perks” you get, but none of the perks are worth that type of price. Go else where to get a dog!

Highly recommend! Don’t let the pricing scare you away from doing business with them and adopting one of their pups! They were sooooo patient and amazing with us during our adoption process! We had a few bumps and Jayln and the GM did everything they possibly could to make sure we got to bring our new baby home! Not to mention, we have the peace of mind knowing our pup is registered and health guaranteed! They provide you with all necessary paperwork proving so! I would absolutely adopt with them again!

The employee was nice and spoke well, but $5,200 for one puppy that looked kinda unwell is enough to buy a used car. For that price, they aren't even house-trained yet? They are kept in plastic uncomfortable cages that don't see sunlight at all unless it's through the store windows. Also all their "starter items for dogs" are very overpriced. Never going back unless I become a millionare.

I went in expecting to see the same sad conditions of the animals at MVP but to my surprise, these animals were being really well taken care of! Within seconds of a puppy using the bathroom someone was right there to clean it up. The employees were all smiling and happy. The animals seemed happy and well cared for. I didn't see one sick animal or dirty living space. I will def be back!

Went in for a puppy but couldn't get past how awful the manager Jaelyn was to me. Store is run very poorly. Seems like not even her employees like her. Manager cost them a sale. Oh well.

Very detailed, very knowledgeable. A little pricey, but financing is available. They set you up for success with your puppy. We left with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

We inquired about a puppy while visiting the store and asked if we could see (hold, play with the puppy). Ashley was snide, rude and not friendly at all, telling us it is serious inquiries only. Well we asked and we are at the store so that should tell her something. She made it seem like we were a burden when we asked questions. I'd never deal with this store again based on this experience.
