Jacob was a FANTASTIC tour guide. He was knowledgeable, interesting, animated, and hilarious. He taught the group so much about raising horses and racing horses. The horses we interacted with were GORGEOUS!!!The lady working in the garden, was so friendly. She took time to answer questions about plant identification and strategic planting to prevent overgrowth. The only thing I will suggest is to update information on the “Gone With the Wind” reference. The carriage in the Stud Barn that was used in the filming of this 1939 classic was NOT in a market scene. This beautiful carriage with Louis Vuitton leather seats was in the scene set in front of the Atlanta newspaper office that was publishing the casualty lists after the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg. Scarlet O’Hara, Melanie Wilkes and Uncle Peter were all in the carriage. (Please see photos)Visiting Hermitage Farm is something I highly recommend to anyone visiting this area of Kentucky.

This was by far one of the more unique places to have dinner. Built on a working family farm, they converted a horse stable into a full fledged restaurant. Our table luckily was in one of the horse stalls which made for a very intimate, romantic, and exclusive experience. The menu rotates and they have seasonal items on it that they serve farm to table. We got the duck and pork, very tasty. We tried their corn bread, pickles, and burrata cheese. The corn bread was delicious, high recommend that side dish. It takes about 20 minutes for them to make it fresh but it’s worth it. The pickles were okay, too spicy in my opinion. The cheese was delicious and pairs well with wine.We did also try their side of potatoes and those turned out great.Service was wonderful and polite. Quick too, always checking on our water, drinks and clearing the table. Just what we like.Over all this is a great dinner spot for those who like Fine Dinning. This is not your meat and potatoes steak house.

Great venue, beautiful. The food however is average. $250 for dinner for 2 (2 apps , 2 drinks each and 2 entrees). I would choose numerous restaraunts over this one. The staff was great but the food was just lacking at the price point they want.

Spring is a great time to visit because you see newborn foals. Was interesting to learn more about racing and breeding industry. Plus you get to interact with some of the horses.

My husband forgot my birthday was today, so I had him make reservations at Barn8. I've heard about this farm to table restaurant for quite a while. They have a wonderful website with beautiful pictures of the property. Inside, there was private seating in the horse stalls. Upper class menu that my husband and I knew almost nothing on it. The waitress was amazing and explained everything in detail. We tried duck for the first time. Maybe it was not a first-time choice, but it was pretty good. Definitely different. Good but different. I had the Canestri, which also had a unique taste. Homemade noodles with pork lion pieces in an oil and cream sauce. It was different but also good. The best dishes were the appetizers due to personal choice. The cornbread and brown butter was to die for as well as the zucchini. For 2 people it cost us 160 including a 30 tip. You can also walk the grounds and ener the gift shop to purchase handmade soaps and candles along with a variety of meat and candies.

We really enjoyed our Farm tour at Hermitage Farm. Jake was our tour guide and was excellent. We toured the beautiful greenhouse, enjoyed a delicious lunch in Barn 8, learned the history of Bourbon with tastings, took a hayride to the Stud Barn to learn about the Retired thoroughbreds and enjoyed looking at the trophies of winners. Hermitage Farms is very close to Louisville Kentucky and sits in a beautiful area of Goshen Ky. We are so glad we chose Hermitage as our choice tour on our Bourbon mini vacation.

Second time here. Came for dinner with my mom and 3 sisters in Oct 2023, Apps were amazing! Main dishes were good but overly salted for a couple of my sisters, seems like the kitchen's tasters were off that night. Desserts were phenomenal. Cocktails were good and delivered fast.Went on Art Walk after, which was amazing. We had a rollator for my elderly mother and it worked great. Only issue is having to schlep down several flights of stairs in order to arrive at the Art Walk. For anyone with mobility issues, it is advisable to do the Art Walk from the path outside of the kitchen, since it is all flat/handicap accessible. From there, you just go in and out that same way, so you can avoid those stairs. Becomes an in and out and not a loop, but you will still get the great experience. The farm is beautiful, well-maintained, and a very special place to go with your loved ones. Went once in June with a friend, and came right back in Oct with my fam. Highly recommended for dinner and the Art Walk.

Toured the Farm to see and hear the story of the horses. Learned so much from our Guide Jacob today. He is very passionate about the Farm and his knowledge of horses. We interacted with some retired stud horses, which was very unique and fun. Heard the history of some of the well known horses and their winnings in the trophy room. Although we didn’t see many horses up close and personal, this is a breeding farm and they are very careful not to spread diseases amongst the horses. So with that, we saw the little ones from afar and only heard about the ones in several of the buildings. The horses also tend to stay inside when its too warm out and go out when it cools down. Another reason for not a lot of activity that way. The tour was very informative and a great way to hear about the “blood line” of famous horses. Would like to take advantage of some of the other features on the Farm when available…restaurant, garden, greenhouse, bourbon tasting, etc.

Loved the tour with the only grouse being that the shuttle van had windows you can't see out off, which is kind of stupid to say the least. The tour guide was great explaining how young horses are groomed from birth to sale as yearlings to racing stables and breeding operations and finally retirement life for stars. Well worth a visit.

Hermitage Farm was the highlight of our day through their tour experience. They were so amazing. Ryan, our guide, took us everywhere, viewing the gardens, bourbon tasting, visiting the horses, and the historic grounds. The lunch they provided was incredible. They were nice enough to make us a plant based, gluten free meal that was full of fresh veggies, along with truffles for dessert. The care and love provided for each guest is phenomenal. The horses were fun and the parade of horses with their babies was such a site to see. This all day experience was beyond memorable. I cannot recommend this farm enough. The scenery is beautiful, the horses adorable, and I can't wait to visit their restaurant tomorrow.

Highly recommend a visit here as part of Chuchill Downs tour. Our excellent guide was a very knowledgable young man Jacob, a native Kentuckian and was very Informative and amusing. Had a nice lunch, followed by a Bourbon tasting before heading to the stables to visit different horse breeds

The tour was best part part of the day, between derby museum, and lunch, bourbon testing, hosts, horses. I can see why queen Elizabeth came here. Everyone was knowledgeable, everyone was gracious. I would absolutely tour of the farm again.

We came from Pennsylvania and had An Unforgettable Day 6-23-23 at Church Hill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum, & Hermitage Farm. We enjoyed the Gracious hospitality at Hermitage Farm. We had a wonderful time with a Garden and Sustainability Tour that included a true Farm to Table lunch. Loved my Bourbon Experience And enjoyed a Kentucky Bourbon Tasting. A scenic hayride. Up close and personal encounter with their retired Lipizzans, Clydesdales, and Thoroughbreds. Accolades of raising a Kentucky Derby Winner Dark Star in 1953, as well as produced a host of others for Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, Breeder’s Cup, and more than 200 stakes races. The history and legacy of Hermitage Farm is what everyone needs to hear “You Take Care of The Land and The Land Will Take Care of YOU”. Thank you to our tour guides today Adam, Jacob & Devon. Highly Recommend this Tour.

Barn 8 for brunch, a delightful surprise. 21C cool right here in Oldham County. Inventive brunch menu, mostly (if not all) locally sourced. Loved checking out the event venues: the luxe loft of Barn 8 and the zen greenhouse. Someday must return to see the art installation along the boardwalk through the woods. Thank you, Nicole for great service and patiently answering all my questions!

Lovely meal at Barn8--an old, converted barn. Some tables are actually in stalls! Restaurant was difficult to find in the dark so if you are unfamiliar with the grounds, leave extra time and drive slowly. Signs to restaurant are very small and easy to miss. Also went for a beautiful walk along the Art walk installation which had neat projections and music amongst the woods.

My husband and I took the tour recently with Jacob. We found him to be very friendly and knowledgeable about the farm and the horse industry. I especially loved the interaction with the horses. At the gift shop, I needed a different size and they had it waiting when we returned from our tour. This is a must see stop!

Hermitage hosted our wedding reception and it was perfect. Curtis was our coordinator and we couldn't have asked for a better partner for our wedding day! 5/5 stars isn't enough! Thank you Curtis and to everyone at the venue for making the weekend so special. I highly recommend the venue and the coordination to brides looking to get married in the Louisville area.

Honestly, loved this place! It was such a surprise for my non-horsey friends. I, on the other hand, love horses and was super excited about this tour! I highly recommend the full day tour. They take you around the farm and show you horses and their sustainable garden for their restaurant. In addition, they do a bourbon tasting as well. And lunch is provided from the farm. Then you’ll meet some of the carriage driving horses that are housed at Hermitage. And it’s only $65! I definitely saw the value in this tour and would love to come back!
