Amazing No-Kill Shelter! Run heavily by volunteers, these people work hard to care for animals 24/7 and find them homes with love. They do “Check-me-out” and “Get Fit with Fido” events that encourage the community to come out and social with the animals, and get them off the property for a little while. Great place to visit, donate, or volunteer.

What a Heaven's place of hope, love, and uniting lost, abused and abandoned fur babies with families that have huge hearts and safe homes. Betty, her staff, and the volunteers are wonderful caregivers and give how to these animals through their tireless efforts and love. We fell in love with our Maggie the moment we saw her face, abs she's a welcomed addition to our other 2 fur baby family! It's takes a tremendous amount of time, patience, love, and gentle nurturing for these animals, but OH how our hearts have grown and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Betty Martin LIFE HOUSE for your next pet!

This is a great rescue championed by a great lady, Betty Martin! We have got 2 rescues here now. Lifehouse loves and cares for all their fur babies. You will not be disappointed in the care given to these future pets!

I appreciate all rescues, but I don't appreciate rescues that lie and abandon dogs at a high kill rate shelter after taking puppies then having attitude when people call them out with facts. After I called them out on their page, they have blocked me. So I have provided the information here below. Kiah(the name of the dog) was not adopted out. She is with another rescue, one that I work extremely close with actually, and I know the vet office that took her as well as the foster home she's at personally. For a rescue as well as an animal control facility to both claim that she was adopted as well as that the "adopter" had just lost their pet, is sick. Kiah was placed on the euthanasia list at Sumner County Animal Control right after Lifehouse took her puppies. The vet office that goes to SCAC to vet their cats, pulled her because they couldn't let them kill her. That same vet office contacted a foster for the local rescue because they knew we wouldn't fail her like so many others did. Kiah was at AC for THREE WEEKS, and she is extremely skinny. She should not be that skinny while there. She's now in a loving foster home who is providing her with all the best cuddles and care a pet could ask for. I have also attached pictures of Kiah, in one she is wearing a diaper and that is because they want to make sure she doesn't have any accidents in the house while they house train her. By the way, Lifehouse, it's not bashing if I have evidence, vet paperwork, etc. to prove you're wrong.

I adopted my dog Bill Murray (formerly Buddy) almost 7 years ago from LIFE House and he is the greatest dog ever, which would by the transitive property of awesomeness make their rescue org the best ever. Seriously, they took the time to make sure we were a great fit, the adoption process was thorough but not intimidating and I'd recommend them to anyone worthy enough to be a pet owner. Here's a recent pic of my guy, he's got a gray muzzle now but still lively as ever and my constant companion.

I applied to foster a dog, was denied due to my dogs not being neutered. I thought as a pet owner it was my choice to decide if I wanted to alter my pets, apparently not if you're wanting to foster or adopt. I've chosen not to neuter my dogs because, I don't let them out or worry about them impregnating other dogs. I feel like I'm being penalized for not chopping off my dogs grapes. I could've provided an excellent home for a fur baby. This information was never stated on their site either, this is truly heartbreaking.

I would love to leave a good review if I could actually get anywhere with this place. I have sent an email and called several times only to get a recorded message. Seems like if you want a certain dog or any dog from here your screwed cause they just won't respond to you

We just adopted Boots today. He is so happy. I am so grateful we went to Life House. He is already well adjusted to our home. I know he is a good fit for my husband and myself. They were so helpful showing and telling us about all of their dogs.

Love LIFE House. Can’t say enough great things about it, Betty, Beth and staff. They truly care about the animals they have. The adoption process is very thorough and in the best interest of the animals first and foremost. If there’s any doubt for any reason, the animal stays put, as it should be. I bottled fed and/or fostered nine kittens from two litters that ended up at our house. I had them spayed/neutered/shots, but couldn’t find anyone to take them to a loving home, or a shelter that was a No Kill. I contacted LIFE House and after much communication and background check of me through texts, calls and my vet, LIFE House saved their precious lives. I drove two hours to get them there, and so thankful I did. All have been adopted except three, and I’m hoping they will be soon. They also need loving, forever homes. So, yes, I would highly recommend LIFE House if you are seriously looking to adopt a pet for all the right reasons. You will get a pet with an updated health record and history, chipped, and well cared for. If you live close by, please volunteer. If you can donate to them now, or set it up in the future, please do. These folks give their time to these innocent animals day in and day out. They could use extra hands and supplies. I’m two hours away, but do what I can from a distance with donations, etc. If I lived close by, I’d be there every chance I could be. The animals deserve the help and love. Betty who made LIFE House a reality, tireless. Beth, “a true cat lady” tireless. Staff and steady volunteers, tireless. Animals..just waiting to tell their stories to you. Please go listen.🐯🐶🙏❤️

My favorite organization to rescue from. Very attentive and helpful volunteers and staff. Ilive in Louisville and always prefer to drive to Frankfort to adopt from this shelter. Have recommended this place to friends and family who have all come out of it with their new furry family members. Just an overall great place and adoption experience.

They won't let us adopt just because our 11 year old dog is not fixed. Who knows if we had another dog who passed away a few years ago that maybe we wanted her to have a puppy with and after he passed we didn't fix her and now she's to old. It's not like the dogs we get from there aren't already fixed. This place can kiss my butt.

Great people who really care about the dogs and cats they take in. Rex and Hercules are the two dogs I got there and they are doing great. Hercules sleeps with my dad and Rex sleeps in my dad's chair at night and they sleep with me during the day. We love them.

Amazing facility. Their process for adoption is thorough but adoption fees are more than reasonable. The facility is clean and well organized. We were so impressed. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers.

My husband and i volunteered here and we love it. We also adopted 2 brothers who are cats. Jonas and Saully. Saully has passed over the rainbow bridge now but we are thinking of adopting a kitten and it will be from life house.

I went here to find my Wife another Baby. After the passing of her little girl, Little Bit . Well, we got Cooper and later we fostered Ace . We Love them. But we have a third boy who wandered into our garage months ago. Went for one and ended up with 3 .

My husband and I adopted 2 of the little dogs from the lifehouse. The first one that we adopted is a male and the second one we adopted was a little female. We couldn't keep the little girl pup because our lease would only let us have 1.

I am a volunteer at Lifehouse for 2+ years, an adopter of a senior dog too! We are a donation run NO-KILL dog /cat rescue organization. Betty Martin, founder and president, has an unlimited amount of energy for helping dogs and cats!

The people were rude! I was denied adoption rights because I'm in college. I was in need of an ESA due to my current dog not liking all the attention and being a little aggressive. I was told since I don't own a pet I can not adopt one? When I clearly stated I do own pets but my father is helping me care for them. I still pay for the food and vet bills but I see no issue? I need an ESA due to depression and adjustment disorders and was put down do to them. I am very disappointed in this "rescue" now I have to purchase a dog when I would have preferred to adopt one
