I went to the shelter to adopt a dog after a loss of a beloved pet. I adopted a Lab/mountain cur. He is still quite scared since he was in the shelter for 87 days, but he is happy now. Staff at shelter we excellent and caring. Thank you for everything. His brindle marking are awesome

Is this place EVER OPEN?? We’ve come 4 times in the past 2-3 weeks and the gates have been closed during their operating hours LISTED ON THE GATE. We drive all the way out here just to find the gate locked. Infuriating.

Posted dog's for adoption on Facebook. I was able to drive to the shelter and see for myself the dog's that were available. The shelter was clean in the late afternoon. I was able to fill out the paperwork before closing, leave my deposit. I was able to pick up my new dog at the veterinary clinic after she had been spayed a week later. Everything went smoothly and my new dog is loved.

This is an outstanding place. Shelter staff are competent, knowledgeable, helpful, and--importantly--reachable. They gave me all the info I needed for an adoption over the phone and I showed up and got the dog who was obviously well taken care of by these folks. Absolutely perfect experience!

Was told that the pup we rescued had been wormed and had one of three parvo shots. Within a week started passing blood and she had round worms, hook worms and giardia parasite. I don't think she was ever wormed and now I worry they didn't give her a parvo shot either. 12 week old puppy

The staff was very polite and answered any question we had about any of the dogs we were planning to adopt. We made our decision on a 1yr old lab mix souly by letting our 2yr old go in and pet the dog and play with him to see how they would interact. The staff had no objections which was awesome. They are amazing people and they run a very clean safe shelter to the animals that come in.

Very bad experience. Bought a animal that died 2 days later. Bit, the boys finger. Hospital said he had to have rabbie shots at the age of 5. That's a lot for a baby to go through. The vet ok, for the animal to leave.

So this will be a long one. We adopted a cat from this shelter, and were told nothing about how it got there. Staff was friendly but not knowledgeable, and did not even fill out or sign paperwork properly. I got this very sweet cat, and took him home. Soon, he started acting very strange, which I brushed off at first because cats can get stressed when in new environments. However, the problem persisted. I took him to the vet where he was quickly diagnosed with a life threatening, uncurable disease that he would have to live with his entire life. If he does not take expensive medication every single day, he will slowly start to die. Shame on you for not telling me that this cat had something wrong with him. He should have most definitely been a rescue, not an adoptable cat. I am out $300+ for vet bills and medications for this cat. I love him dearly, but when I adopted him I was under the presumption that he was not going to need constant medical care for the rest of his life. That is not fair to me, nor is it to him. I understand that cats are a responsibility and I was more than willing, but his disease will require an extra amount of attention and financial support that I was not prepared for, and most definitely should not have been expected to be prepared for. It doesn’t take much to realize when something is wrong with a cat, especially considering the fact that they took him to the vet to get fixed the day before I picked him up. A seemingly high amount of people work there, not that it seems like any of them do much or devote a lot of time to the cats. Adopt at your own risk and know you may be getting much, much more than you bargained for.

Short Version: They sold me an abused dog. This dog is so traumatized that it refuses to even move. It sits in the bed i bought her all day just staring at me. Refuses to come to me, refuses to eat or use the bathroom in front of me. They refuse to exchange the dog, and pretty much tell me to deal with it.Long Version: They were quick to sell me a dog they received the night before, that didn't even have her surgeries done. They promised me she was a sweet inside dog. They said that she would be spaded in 4 days and that they would clip her nails that the same time while she was under and that I would pick her up 3 days after her surgery. So I pre-ordered a dog pretty much. A day before she was supposed to be spaded I get a call from a random veterinary clinic telling me my dog was ready to be picked up. I had to call off during the middle of my shift and drive 30 minutes to this random veterinarian and there was the dog. Her nails weren't trimmed and the clinic sent her home with no medication or a cone to prevent her from licking her wound open again. They tried making me pay an additional 60$ for a week of medication and another 20 for a cone? Honestly despicable people working together to con people out of their money knowing that many would pay because they're already invested in the pet. Anyways, after getting home you could tell that she (the dog) wasn't feeling well. I figured a few days of resting and she would be up and playful and fine. So after much petting and loving she finally showed how she really was. This dog must have been tortured or something like that because she wont move for anything. You could be calling her with fried chicken in your hands and she doesn't even lift her head to give you any attention. She would only eat when she thought she was alone, and she would only use the puppy pads if she thought she was alone. Even then she would (seemingly) intentionally miss the pads. One day peeing on one side of the room, then when I moved the pad over there, she would pee where the pad was before. She's kind of figured it out by now so no hard feelings there but the way she looks at you when she knows she's in trouble... She looks at you like you just killed her family and she was next. She would also tear up anything on the floor or in the trash as soon as you walked out the door. You could hear her feet clacking on the tile as soon as the door closed. AND THEY PROMISED SHE WAS AN INSIDE DOG. This dog gets nothing but love from me and my wife, yet tears up our apartment, and then looks at us like we've just beat the holy hell out of her. It makes disciplining very difficult because it almost seems impossible to get anything across to her when she's cowering in her bed as you try and tell her "No".None of my feelings of anger are towards the dog, she's a dog, one whos obviously been very abused and needs very delicate treatment from someone qualified. Me and my wife are not, and the Animal Shelter lied to us through their teeth just to collect our money. Then when we called for an exchange or even a refund and that they could take their dog back, they gave us a snarky attitude, made us feel like our problems we're irrelevant and that it doesn't really matter to them that she was promised to make a great in-doors dog. These people don't care about you, they definitely don't care about their animals.

Got to the gate around 1:10pm and waited for almost an hour for someone to open the gates but no one ever showed up. The sign on the gate said that the shelter was closed for lunch around 12:00-1:00. Called around 1:40pm and still no one answered the phone.

I adopted a kitten from Tri-County back in June - the sweetest, healthiest kitten I have ever found in a shelter. The staff are caring and kind and are trying to make the best of a tough situation running a county animal shelter where resources are limited and needy animals are many.
