This place is right off the highway, it could not be more convenient. Communication from the employees was excellent and they sent both email and text communication. Check is was easy and we didnt need to see anyone. We arrived late due to the unrealized time change so being able to drive up and go right into our room was a huge benefit for us. Room 2 was nice, clean and had a ton of little touches that we appreciated. If we ever come out this way again, I will for sure be staying here due to the convenience and friendliness of the staff.Nearby activities: Daniel Boone National Forest

I would highly recommend this Inn. We stayed here for a couple of nights when we went to Red River Gorge. It was easy to get to from the park. Our room was very nice. Often lodging near tourist spots are overly priced and not very good. I was surprised at how lovely this was. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable - my two important features. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The only challenge was the steep steps going to the second floor, but as long as you don't pack a ton of things to carry up, it's not a big deal.

My husband & I first stayed at Clay City Inn, in September when we took our Jeep from NC to explore the Red River Gorge & DBBB. The location is very convenient, and we are actually returning this week!I can't say enough good things about our experience. Lyndsay was helpful from the beginning when talking to her via phone to make reservations and was there to greet us upon our arrival. The room (#5) was clean, comfy bed, great shower pressure, and with all the expected amenities. We too took advantage of the outdoor gathering area as the weather was beautiful and enjoyed the company of the friendly cats and chickens! A great place to rest and relax!

We stayed a couple nights in the summer to enjoy the nearby kayak loop (note: mark the end of the 5-mile loop with a flag, it's easy to miss) with entry & exit points in downtown Clay City. We loved the inn! Super clean and comfortable at a reasonable rate. Even better is the Sasquatch theme. So much care has been taken in the recent renovation. Charlie and Lyndsey are first-rate hosts. We plan to go back for hiking and hope to stay again.Rooms: Especially new and comfortableNearby activities: KayakingNoteworthy details: Sasquatch themed

Wow what a great weekend, Charlie and Lyndsey are wonderful hosts! Rooms are clean and recently renovated. Beds were very comfortable. There is a fire pit outback where we enjoyed a big bonfire and comradery. The local bourbon distilleries did not disappoint, but the highlight of the trip was a hunt for Bigfoot led by proprietor and expert hunter, Charlie Raymond. We started with an informative presentation and then an amazing expedition in search of the big hairy guy, complete with thermal imaging tech! So cool! We will be back to check out the red river gorge, hit a few more bourbon distilleries and continue the search for Bigfoot! So much fun! Thanks Charlie and Lindsey for a wonderful event filled weekend!Rooms: Very clean, spacious and comfortableNearby activities: Hunt for bigfoot, Red River Gorge, Bourbon Distilleries.Walkability: Breakfast at DQ is right around the corner.

Staying at the Clay City Inn was one of the highlights of our trip. Our hosts were very pleasant, efficient ,helpful and knowledgeable. The family pets are a delight and quite loveable. Rooms are clean, fresh and comfy. The beds and linens were soo scrumptious. We have not slept as well since. Attention to detail is refreshing. Loved the teapot as well as the art work. The grounds are well kept with plenty of parking. Motorcycle friendly blacktop. Cost of lodging is a great value. We encourage and highly recommend other travelers to experience The Clay City Inn.

I highly recommend the Clay City Inn. We just stayed there three nights to explore the Red River Gorge (RRG). The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They provided useful guidance on places and trails to try in the RRG and suggestions on local services. The rooms were clean and well equipped including a very comfortable beds including lots of fluffy pillows and a quilt. The bathroom was clean with lots of towels and the shower had a strong flow of hot water. Internet access was strong and the large TV had lots of streaming services and channels.

Charlie and Lyndsey have done a great job renovating this place. Wonderful hospitality. Don’t miss Charlie’s presentation if you haven’t seen it yet! Parking good. Gas station next door and a DQ within walking distance. Very good value.

A wonderfully cozy place to stay. Got a super clean remodled room at a great value. Plus they got a unique Bigfoot theme, how fun is that!Kind of randomly stumbled upon it on a business trip and am glad to have stopped by. One of the best locally owned small hotels I've had the pleasure of visiting, and easily the most memorable.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Owners were so sweet to talk to! Our room was so clean and such a cute layout! Me and my husband drove all night to get to the hotel and check in time was 4pm. We told the owners and they worked with us so we could check in early to rest. Our stay was absolutely the best stay we have had in a while. Clay City the town itself everyone is so nice and helpful! We feel in love!

Lyndsay & Charlie were absolutely incredible host. Honestly felt like we were staying alot closer to home. We travelled down to Tennessee & Kentucky for a road trip and found this little gem of a inn. Originally only planned staying one night but ended up staying 3 as everything was perfect for us. Lyndsay routed us out some amazing hikes in the red river gorge while we were there. Thanks so much guys we can't wait to come back !Oh and P.S if your into bigfoot this is the place to be ! Charlie and Lyndsay run the Kentucky bigfoot research organization and are super passionate about it. Big foot was a big part of trip and to stumble upon this place and these people was a incredible experience.Nearby activities: Red river gorge/ Daniel Boone nation forest hiking, fishing and camping.

Great location when visiting the area attractions. We visited Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. Rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need. We were welcomed warmly by the owners, Charlie & Lyndsey, and their livable pup, Whiskey. Their continued renovations are creating a wonderful place to stay. Close to food, gas and road access. They have a fenced in backyard with space for pets to roam free with firewood available for additional enjoyment. We stayed two nights and highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting the area.

Cute and clean accommodations! The rooms are pretty old and not anything fancy, but you can tell the new owners have added new touches to spruce up the place, as well as keeping the rooms clean. Overall, great value for the price. The inn overall seems very well taken care of, and the owners are responsive and attentive.

Room was clean and nice. Thin walls could hear everything around us. Needs to get an antenna, won't go back. We could not get local news or traffic, can only stream and you have to use your own accounts. A 25 dollar antenna would had made this a 5 star rating, but paying 100 dollars and you can't watch NBC, ABC, CBS or even Fox shows real time is ridiculous.Nearby activities: Daniel Boone parkway.

My brother and I were rolling into Clay City to play on the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in his Jeep and were going to arrive way past their office hours for check in. Clay City Inn made sure we were able to get into our room - despite arriving even later than we anticipated - and there was plenty of parking for our large truck and large trailer. The room was nice and clean, and the sound of our truck's engine when we arrived was probably the loudest noise that day. The people are nice, the room is nice, and it's convenient to whatever you might be doing in the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you need a place to crash in this area, I highly recommend it.
