Don't miss the Dog Pound, it's one you won't mind finding yourself in. If you just want a little something have one dog, or if you're hungry, give two or three different types a try! The potato salad is the BEST this reviewer has had to date, the only neg is the size, you'll want more! The chili cheese dog is yummy, add a little mustard and you'll be in Heaven, the Chicago dog is pretty yummy, too. The service is happy and you'll leave with a smile! Tell Big Jack I sent you, you won't get a discount (you won't need one, the prices are perfect) but you'll get a laugh! Enjoy and sign a spot before you leave!

Great little hot dog stand in an old gas station. The inside dining is small but they have cleverly built large outdoor tables over the old pump islands.The jumbo dogs are jumbo and piled with toppings. There is a good selection of dogs along with some brats and sausages. Their chili is home made and delicious.The jumbo dogs are a challenge to eat without using a knife and fork. Thankfully those are provided.Wait staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Signage is a bit lacking from the road but well worth searching for this spot!

It is soooo hard to find a good hot dog place...but we finally found one! Sadly, we're traveling or this would be a weekly stop... it's that good! The beef hot dogs are top quality & the toppings are generous. Great chili!! You'll start out eating with your hands (if you can pick it up), but will end up with a fork & knife...they are that loaded! And all served with a smile!

What a cool place! I had two hot dogs, the BBQ hot dog and the ham, provolone, bacon hotdog (pictured). They were awesome! Very full after two dogs. Sat outside on the covered porch and enjoyed the day. The owner came out and sat and talked with me a while. Really interesting and nice fellow with some cool life stories. I can't wait to return and try the Hawaiian burger next! Don't miss this place, it's a gem for sure.

Like many people, we stopped after a Mammoth Cave Tour and stopped for a bite. So glad we did. We got a Chicago Dog, Yorkie Burp, and a Big Jack Attack. I love a good hot dog and would rate this place one of the best. Place was clean, crew was friendly, and prices we really great. Plus got to eat outside in the shade. Would stop again without any hesitation, wish it was closer to my home.

Went today while killing time in between mammoth cave tours and SO happy we did. It’s a cute place, has pool tables outside, and the staff were so friendly. Food didn’t take long and it was delicious! Loved the bbq pork nachos and chili hot dog. If we’re ever in this area again, we are 100% coming back!

A hidden gem, to be sure! If you find yourself in the Mammoth Cave area, skip the tourist trap bar food and head here. It's a no-frills little shack, but isn't that where you find the best food? There's a hot dog on the menu for everyone.

My wife Jo-Ann and I have only been in Cave City, KY for about a month. But The Dog Pound is fast becoming our favorite place to eat. They have "THE BEST" jumbo hotdogs I have ever eaten, my favorite is the Wild Bill Jumbo Chili Cheese Dog.And as for the owner Jack, you couldn't ask for a nicer & more down to earth guy. We really enjoyed his company tonight.If I could give The Dog Pound a 10 star rating I would in a heartbeat, it's that good!JT

This place is trash. I went one day at the beginning of the season. Maybe April-ish.. don't waste your money.First off, I ordered the Great Dane with peppers and onions. Total was like $7.07. I gave the girl $10.10. She comes back hands me $2 and says, "I put the wrong amount in, and I have no idea how much to give you back. So here is $2. And she handed me the dime. I said, "well, you owe me $3 and keep the dime." This was at least an 18 year old girl.Second, look at the pic. It's super disappointing.And last, but not least..The owner, I think his name is Jack. Short, big guy. Anyway, he goes and eats for FREE at the bar next door, and he NEVER tips.

I was doubtful of a hotdog stand having a 4.9 rating, but I love this place. I'm an Out-of-Towner staying for one night and this was the best possible choice for dinner. Karaoke out front, a simple but delicious menu, and absolutely the best staff. Hopefully you'll be greeted at the door by Jack the owner like I was.

The hotdog I had tasted fine, good bun and solid dog, though it was often hard to bite through the hotdog itself, the nachos were nice too. Nothing to write home about.

The MacRussell is hands down the best hotdog I’ve ever had. I’ve been craving it since the first time I had it. Coming from Elizabethtown, it’s definitely worth the drive to try anything that comes out of their kitchen.

While staying at the hotel we saw the Dog Pound across from the parking lot and at first did not think too much of it. It is not very large. Wanting a little something for dinner and reading of their homemade meat products and friendly staff we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. The owner is super friendly and JoJo was a super host. A nice change and great fast and friendly restaurant. Limited indoor seating with additional outdoor seating.

If you find yourself in the Mammoth Cave area, try the dogs in the Dog Pound. My only regret is that I didn't order 2-3 different regular ones and "settled" for this one jumbo dog (Chicago style).

This was the perfect meal after a day at Mammoth Cave. I got the Mac Russell and the Yorkie Burp, both were cooked to perfection and you can’t beat the prices!

My husband and I stopped here after our two hour tour in the mammoth caves. The owner and employees were all so friendly, welcoming, with fantastic service. We both ordered the "Big Jack Attack" and a chili dog. Perfectly cooked and so filling! We loved it here. If only we lived closer to enjoy the good conversations and food on a regular basis. When we're back in the state, we'll definitely come by again. 💜

The loaded potato salad was delicious! A small sample size though. I got the burger with pineapple, ham & cheese. The best part was the cheese & bun. I was disappointed in the burger. It seemed to be a soyburger. I was not impressed. The folks there were so friendly & the dining idea outside was neat. They should do a lot more decorating to make it more interesting to dine there. Just wished I had chosen something else.
