I love how well the animals are loved at the animal shelter in Meade County. The helpers I encountered when I visited with my son the day I visited knew every animal's name and loved on them as they described them to us. They told us about their quirks and let us visit for as long as we liked. They even gave my son an application to volunteer because he was so enamored with the idea of spending time helping these babies find good homes and be loved while they're waiting. I wish I could've taken all of them home with me that day. I'll definitely be back and I will be helping with supplies that the shelter needs while the animal's stay there as well as when they go to their new homes.

We brought our pup Sweetheart home to foster and she never left. We had her for 8 years. I love that her name actually came from Alan and Jasper (shelter staff). Sweetheart passed on this week, guys. She had a good, loving, safe home for all of her days. I know you try hard to do the best for every animal that comes into your care. Thanks for our Sweetheart.

I have a new furbaby to love n mend my heart after the loss of my 13 yr old angel Rascal had to cross the rainbow bridge. Thank you Meade co animal shelter! Rosie is a very sweet baby girl!

great .i was very surprised they took my friends dig to the vet. a few years ago my dog got picked up and the young man that took care of him was great. he loved my dog. this new young guy there.now. he is very good too. I thank them guys very much. 8 had to go to my car. I cried.i have two pits I am trying to get back. I really miss my babies.

I had 3 puppies get dropped off on my property. They were infested with fleas. This shelter took them, medicated them and found them a foster home very quickly.

My dog died here. After she was dropped off by someone who didn't own her. They never checked her chip, nore did they get any information on her. The day we went to get her she died. The way they say she died was very fishy too. 0 stars and place is an absolute mess.

Great folks! We were trapping some kittens down by the river so we could get them fixed and the animal shelter was extremely helpful in that process!

This place is clean but there isn't many kennels. I wish they would update their website and social media pages. I know they are limited on man power so yeah, I get it.

Must make arrangements to go there. Tricky to find the entrance. Very nice man runs it. I had to surrender a stray kitten. He assured me that it wouldn't be euthanized. He already has a forever home.

I took 3 of my Labs there due to an unfortunate incident and was told that they by law are supposed to hold for like 5 days. I went in the very next morning and was told that they called a Lab rescue to pick them up. I called every Lab rescue I could find wanting to get them back and no one knew anything about a pick up. They put my dogs down the very day I took them there. They suck!!!

Dirty cages, green water in bowls, and dog feces in a bucket sitting by the door is what awaits you at this shelter. These poor animals deserve much more!
