Trustworthy, sincere, extremely knowledgeable and KIND.Other trainers I contacted tried to sell me services for $1695.00 or their cheaper option of $795and kept me On the phone for 45 min. After 1 min., this man listened to my need and told me to simply put my small dog in the carrier with some treats regularly and eventually she would like it. He said, "You don't need me. You can do it." Talk about REFRESHING, AND HE WAS RIGHT. COST=ZERO TIME =1 minute. Please use this service. He is someone I completely TRUST with my fur baby.

I have had 3 dogs trained by Jim. One was a male Rottweiler, Jed, that had been rescued from an abuse situation. He was so afraid of men it took Jim awhile before he could even touch him. I appreciated the time and patience Jim took with Jed. I am a veterinarian and refer my clients to him when they are needing their dogs trained.

We loved the experience and learned a lot about our dog! The classes, that are offered as a part of the package, really help to understand how to give structure to the owner-dog relationship. Our girl is very smart and often tries to manipulate situations in her favor. Jim was able to teach us ways to keep her alert and attentive but very much in check :)Much happier dog! Much happier owner!

UPDATE:We're still enjoying the benefits of Jim's training, even several years later. Our dog, Coco, is loving and sweet, and does what we need her to do. We've never regretted taking her to Jim.Original Review from 2018:Jim is a fantastic trainer! Our dog was nearly unmanageable when we dropped her off, and by the time we picked her up she had learned to sit, heel, stay, lie down, come, and is so good at all of it! Jim also has been very patient and thorough in training all of us to deal with the dog in the best way possible. We're so glad we chose Durham Kennels!

So after all the money spent the only thing that happened to my dog was he lost 9 pounds and for some reason both his front paws and nose were torn up from “hitting his kennel”. Today my family got a call from the owner and he told her all my dogs behavior was now our fault for not bringing him back for training. I was informed that I would be contacted to set up a training but was never called until today and didn’t even talk to the owner. Im a cancer patient and enjoy my dogs and I informed the owner it was hard for me to do the full training and was told no problem. I just can’t believe someone would offer a service and after 3 weeks of nothing, it my fault and not his!!
