After seeing the negative reviews about the customer service, I was really hesitant to come to this coffee shop. I'm just speculating that maybe the shop owner hired a new person, because the person who took my order was super sweet.We tried blackberry cream latte. I'm not a fan of sugary and sweet drinks, but this latte was different. I guess the espresso used dilutes the sweetness. I really enjoyed my experience.

I’m really sad about my experience at BC&T today. I normally don’t leave bad or even kinda bad reviews but this was pretty horrible and I feel like the owner should know. The man working the counter today is not someone I would ever hire to run my coffee shop (idk his name but he wears a special hat/head covering thing). I waited a solid 5 minutes at the register until he approached me to put in my order. And no greeting, nothing. As a new mom, I was really excited to get out of the house and really needed a coffee after a long night. I ordered a white mocha latte half sweet. He made it so sweet I can’t even drink it, I can’t see the espresso in it at all. And I wouldn’t want to bother him to remake it. They were also out of “all meats” so they couldn’t make any sandwiches and I had to order a bagel which tasted weird. Just a waste of almost $10 and a really disappointing experience for me and I love coffee and was really excited to relax with a great cup. This place gets 3 stars because I’ve had other good experiences here. This experience would be a zero.

My little sister enjoys this place so she took us there today. The three for the service is earned for the young lady who was working who was incredibly friendly, sweet and lovely to talk to. HOWEVER, the young man who worked there could not be bothered with us. Glared at us while we ordered, and wouldn't even say hello back to us. Literally brought our food over to the table, DROPPED IT DOWN, and walked away without saying a word. Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced from one single person. And it's sad because otherwise I enjoyed the visit. The atmosphere was nice, the drinks were good, and again, the young lady who was also working the counter was extremely pleasant. But the guy made me feel more unwelcome than I have ever felt in an establishment. His earbuds were in the whole time, and he couldn't care less about the people there. I wouldn't go back simply because I wouldn't want to have to interact with him again.

Great customer service. Ordered a blackberry cream latte with almond milk and cream cheese Danish. They offered to warm the Danish, cute little spot. Would return again if I'm ever in the area. The paninis sounded delish, but the coffee definitely hit the spot

Great coffee. Silent place in the square we may have felt out of our comfort zone or like we may have been disturbing the guests since we had a two year old with us and he was tapping away and everyone else was so quiet. But we actually felt very welcomed the server was funny and very accommodating to us even with a little kid, he played with him and even gave him some freaky little toy to play with. The food was nothing to write joke about but the coffee was on point.

I’ve truly never had an experience like this at a cafe. I came in, the server was on the phone talking while taking orders. Weird start. I ordered a panini. Panini press didn’t work. Smoothie machine didn’t work. They didn’t have lettuce or tomato for sandwiches. I ordered a latte with oatmilk….no oatmilk. But i didn’t know that until AFTER i had already paid and gotten my sandwich. Was handed the most pathetic turkey sandwich I’ve ever had. Not to mention it was $16!!!! There was also no toilet paper in the women’s bathroom.Of course, it is not this poor servers fault that nothing works and they are out of everything, but there was a clear lack or concern from the server. He was on his phone, did not greet anyone, was short with customers, and simply rude. I am begging management to intervene this employee’s behavior. After reading other reviews, it is clear that this treatment has gone on for months. Employees like this will sink a local business. This cafe used to be a local gem, but it’s gone down the drain and that is obvious! The carelessness and disinterest is apparent.I’m especially disappointed because i chose to go here for my lunch today instead of Just Love because i wanted to eat a local spot.If i can give yall some advice, just don’t go here. Don’t waste your time and money.

The bitter aroma of coffee and a collection of pastries inside bake cases hooked my attention- I had to sit down and try their items. If you are a college student, this is the best place to stop by during breaks to grab a sandwich or tea because of its pleasant interior design.- Lamia Nowshin

Awful!!! If I could give negative stars I would! Rude guy “taking orders” couldn’t even be bothered to SPEAK. Was on his phone 15 mins and couldn’t be bothered to even start making our food when we were on a time crunch for a wedding… food was meh, drinks were horrendous- hot milk with a flavor of something. the atmosphere got us in the door, looked so cute but we were running out by the end. If you you passing through, drive on by- would have had a better experience at McDonald’s

Super friendly staff, good coffee, and sandwiches. The Cafe has a great vibe. The owner was very kind and generous. We stayed in the Boone Tavern for several days and went to the Cafe everyday. The owner remembered us and sent us off with dessert!

We had never been to Berea before, and stumbled across it, then we found this great coffee shop. We had a sandwich, soup and some great latte's. Adam and his staff chatted with us and told us all about the town. We loved this coffee shop experience so much we actually considered moving here to Berea! What a friendly place it must be. The employees were not friendly at all, especially the person taking orders, who would not even greet customers or say a single word until asked how much longer or food would be and he rudely replied. Our orders got messed up and they just overall seem like a poorly managed business who does not make sure their employees have at least minimum customer service skills. Not worth it.

The atmosphere is awesome, the chai tea late I got was great also. From the second we walked in the door the two gentlemen behind the counter made me feel extremely unwelcome. They were both wearing earbuds. Neither said hello or responded when I happily greeted them. I told myself “it’s ok. Maybe something bad happened to them today.” I ordered a chai tea latte and a piece of chocolate cake. I took two bites of the cake to make sure my tastebuds weren’t deceiving me. The cake tastes like bleu cheese with an aftertaste of soap. I went up to the counter and told them “I’m so sorry but there is something wrong with the cake.” They just blankly stared at me, then one asked me with attitude “what do you mean?” I said “I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but it’s bad. Taste it.” And all he responded was “I don’t eat chocolate.” I said “I would like a refund please.” And he just looked at the screen, hit some buttons and said absolutely NOTHING else. To the owners of this shop: I think you probably usually have a great thing going, but these two guys who were working this morning are not supporting this vision. That kind of treatment is super hurtful…I don’t know if they think it doesn’t matter how they treat others, but it mattered to me. It hurt me. Also….I think the cake tasted bad because cheese and such was being stored right next to it in the same cooler…kind of like when you put bananas in the fridge and everything around it smells like banana.

Picture yourself on a hot September day. You just finished a run, your stomach is an amalgam of Papalenos, Coke Zero, and water, so logically, you go to Berea Coffee & Tea Co. to just ~spice things up~ with some coffee to really form a tempest in your tummy.I walk in, I’m hit with a wall of ice cold AC, I love it already. The vibes: great. The ambiance: delightful. The aroma of brewing coffee, the unbridled productivity of laptop warriors, and of scintillating conversation is truly top-notch.But the vibes were instantly off when I stepped to the register. I was, hmmm…”greeted?” by a cashier who very clearly had other places he wanted to be, which seems strange because there was truly no other place in the world I would rather be in the world than Berea Coffee & Tea Co. (BCTC) at that moment. I said my order with gusto, but the cashier was silent, as if I was yelling into the abyss. Maybe he couldn’t hear me over this AirPods, only the lord knows. I saw the POS update, and he turned around and jettisoned me from his mind, like I was not a human, but a piece of garbage. “Am I not human? Do we not bleed the same blood?” I thought to myself, exasperated. At that moment, I had an existential crisis, and my only hope at that moment was that my iced latte would help me find the wherewithal to understand my humanity.As I was coming to grips with my existence (or attempting to, anyway), another member of my party, another human being, was wondering if the delicious coffee beverage at the counter was hers or mine.“What flavour is this?” “Iced coffee.” He said, scowling deep into her soul, with the kind of frosty demeanor somewhere between a bitter Berea winter and the callous disregard of the Grinch. Then, my drink was ready, and I was ready to put this challenging episode of my life behind me.The coffee did help me come to grips with my reality, although, to be clear, questions remain. And the coffee tasted good, with coffee flavour possessing a nice artesian flavour you would expect from a fine establishment like BCTC.But while I was ready to put this episode of my life behind me, I had a gnawing, agonizing feeling in my body, which I think (but cannot independently verify) is distinct from the Papalenos, water, Coke Zero, and now, coffee brewing. The feeling that I should write a review to serve as a written record of my experience.In my younger days (2 weeks ago) I was a barista. I know intimately the trying nature of serving people this tantalizing elixir that brings both the best and the worst of humanity. But I would never treat someone the way this cashier did, and it soured an otherwise delightful rendezvous. I mean, to make a fellow human contemplate their existence? That is a bridge too far. This cashier was unprofessional and makes me contemplate not returning to BCTC (but that may or may not be because I do not live in Kentucky).I wish BCTC the best, because with staff like this, they’ll need it.

One star because literally any coffee shop can make an iced coffee, but few can make you feel as unwelcome as this place did. Customer service skills must not be a requirement for their barista positions. The guy manning the register didn’t offer any greetings, fine. Just pointed to the end of the store to look at their flavor bottles when I asked what flavors they had for their iced coffee, whatever. But myself and my two friends had all ordered iced drinks, so when he shoved one out at us I asked what flavor it was (to make sure I wasn’t grabbing my friends drink) and he glared at me and said “it’s *your* iced coffee”. That was it for me. Sorry sir, but nothing about my experience with you thus far has led me to believe you would pay attention to which of us had ordered which iced drink, so it felt like a fair question. Truly made me regret the 30% tip I left this guy for pouring something into a cup. They also had a bunch of dead flies in their window sills. Stick to Native Bagel Co.

Me and my friend went there we got 3 smoothies and 2 sandwiches. It took 30 minutes and in my sandwich I found a tomato sticker in it while eating it and she had a bug in her smoothie. They weren’t very busy and seemed very lazy. Me and my friend both worked as a barista and have sympathy for those workers but the employees seemed very lazy and spent a lot of time chatting.
