If I could give 0 stars I would.I called this place to ask questions about the grooming process, spoke with the manager who answered my phone call. She was very nice, answered all my questions/doubts, and convinced me that they would take really great care of my puppy and get her used to the grooming process. So I decided to book an appointment.Unfortunately, the manager was not there when I took my puppy for a groom. I was received by a very nice young lady. I told her that I wanted the “complete package” as it was recommended by the manager in order to get my dog used to the process, which includes a bath and full groom. I told the young lady that I wanted the “schnauzer cut”.When I went to pick my dog up, she was only bathed and the young lady said that she only cut the hair in between my dogs paws and around her private are. Which is absolutely not considered a “full groom” as included in the “complete package”. The young lady stated that she did not cut her beard because “she didn’t know how I wanted it”. I had told her initially when I dropped my dog off that I wanted the “schnauzer cut” which includes a basic beard shape and trim. She then proceeded to tell me that she did not feel comfortable with grooming her because she is not a certified groomer- that she has only “took the class”. I was then proceeded to be charged $60 (with tip), when the full groom costs $60. So I basically ended up paying $60 for a bath, paw trim, and private area trim. Absolutely nothing professional something I could do myself that does not require expertise whatsoever.I proceeded to give the manager a call a couple of days later to express my concern and dissatisfaction as to why my dog did not get the treatment that the manager recommended and that comes with the “full package”. She told me she was going to see discuss what happened with the young lady that helped me and would call me back, which she never did.The place is very clean and nice. My complaint stems from the fact that I was promised a full service that I paid for and did not receive. Please beware and make sure that you get what you paid for and everything included in the package was done prior to picking your pet up.

Came in recently to get my pup groomed. The staff there is amazing and my pup came home happy. Which was a huge relief as she hasn't been socialized much as she was abused before I adopted her. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and you could tell they genuinely care about their clientele. Can't say enough good things about the Dirty Dog

The staff is so friendly and loves the animals. They do a great job on my special needs doxie! She doesn't mind going in now, where she used to shake and turn around, heading back to the car when we first started taking her in. I would highly recommend this place for your dogs bathing and grooming needs, as well as a doggy day care.

I am a recent customer of The Dirty Dog and have found it to be a very, very special place. They are amazing groomers for sure, but the thing that makes them stand out is their hearts for animals. They take the time to learn about your pets personality and likes/dislikes as well as things that frighten them prior to services so that they can provide the best care while performing their services. I have never encountered this and love their approach. While dropping off two of my pups for grooming on two separate occasions, I waited around and observed the traffic of animals and owners all coming for different reasons. The dogs were excited to be there, and the staff knew them by name. The family members dropping them off appeared comfortable and confident that their pets were in wonderful hands. I left feeling completely comfortable leaving my babies in their care and excited to see their transformations. I was not disappointed. They looked adorable and smelled wonderful. My pups had mainly only been groomed by me, so the staff took the time with them and understood their anxiety. They use no fear techniques and the results were awesome. If you love your animals and want an amazing experience for them, take them to The Dirty Dog, you will be glad you did! They also have other services other than grooming-like boarding, training, and day care.

Made an appointment, even booked the shuttle. The day of they were a no call no show. The next day I received a text message saying they were short staffed etc etc and asked if I wanted to reschedule.......uhhhh at any place of employment a no call no show is automatic termination.....why would I rebook after you stood me and my pet up? Naaaaaah im good

As always, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and take each dog's needs into account. I drive 30 minutes to take my puppy here because I can trust he will be cared for as if he were their own. Their training services are top notch also!

I have been to this pet grooming/boarding place 3x. Mandy has always been fantastic. She is always busy, but you can tell she absolutely loves doing what she does. We had a special circumstance due to a fire at my sisters house and we needed to find a new home for her dog. Mandy stepped up to help in such a fantastic way. I was just completely in awe of her help and support. I will definitely always go to this place and I highly recommend her business and service because of how she loves what she does and how she really does lovingly care for pets.

This is my dogs hack job she recieved from the dirty dog. Would have not paid if I had seen my dog first. She is a pomeranian. Highly recommend not getting your dog groomed there. Absolutely awful.

My dog is always so happy when I pick her up from here. This was the first time I had used them for boarding. When I picked her up they had to get her out of the swimming pool, so she wasn't very happy with me cuz' I didn't let her stay and swim. Great place! I am very pleased they actually play with the dogs!!

I have only had my hyper Corgi get his nails trimmed here, but they are fantastic. He won't sit still at home for 2 of us to do 1 nail. But I bring him here, and he goes back for 5-10 minutes, and bam smooth nails. The people here are very friendly and polite.

My Shepard looks so good afterwards. I have taken my dog Bear there 3 times. The first time was great the second time was great but this last time was horrible. I had my husband take him and when he picked him up he was still wet and not combed my husband didn't realize he was not done as they said he was. I got home from work and I asked why he was still wet and he wasn't combed. Later his hair was all lumpy and stiff. Took a washcloth to it and it was had soap on it. Called on Monday and they said they would redo it and not charge me. After I picked him up I saw where his skin was all red and irritated. I ran him into the vet and they said it was because all the soap was not rinised off. So now I paid 104.00. I will never subject my baby to this again.

My special needs Doxie was clean, smelled good, and her nails look great. We have had great success with Dirty Dog. She doesn't seem to be near as stressed out when I pick her up from there. The price is good, the service and friendliness of the staff is great as well.

Our Bella struggled with anxiety and is hypersensitive to reactions of humans and other dogs. We struggled with her and our Chihuahuas getting along. If it wasn't for Mandy and Everyone at the Dirty Dog Bella's journey would have taken a drastic turn.We owe them so much that we can never repay. Everyone is wonderful and kind. Mandy's and her staff's abilities with our Bella saved her life and taught us so much about our Bella. We will never find another daycare/ grooming business that will ever match up to The Dirty Dog. We give the 10 stars, not just 5.We are forever grateful.

They did a great job with Izzy. When I dropped her off, she was not very happy. She is a very protective dog. The staff were great with her and when I picked her up the staff were petting her and able to walk her out to the van it was very exciting! Thanks to the staff for all their hard work!

Mandi and her team are great. Although we no longer live in Topeka, whenever we come home to visit family they open their doors and their hearts for our boys. They care deeply about what they do and provide a fun and safe environment for them to play. You get what you pay for, and The Dirty Dog is worth every penny!

I live out of town and wanted a boarding/ daycare set up for my dog when I went on vacation- we don’t have that kind of service where I live - just kennels. Website looked good and reviews were good for the most part but I didn’t have that good of a experience. Took my dog there the day before my vacation for her evaluation. I was not allowed to go inside the facility to inspect it stating COVID reasons. Stores and doctors offices are open - why wouldn’t a kennel/ dog day care?!? That alone made me uneasy but the staff was nice and I didn’t have time to find another place. I asked for my dog to get fully groomed while there. That didn’t get done. I took the appropriate amount of food for her during her stay but there was a packet left in her bag which indicated to me that she got missed a feeding. They did reimburse me the grooming fee and said they billed me incorrectly for her stay and reimbursed me the difference. She looked and acted OK when I picked her up. Might take her again if they allow clients to take a tour of the facility.

I have 3 dogs who visit The Dirty Dog for baths, grooming and day care. The staff is always so good to my kiddos! My biggest dog has skin allergies and gets medicated baths weekly and they help so much! He loves the attention and likes to lean on the bathers while they dry him. My youngest dog is a wholy terror when it comes to baths! I can't even get him in the shower or tub at home! Mandi just doesn't take no for an answer from him. She knows how to be firm with him and the rest of the staff is catching on as well. My smallest is just a little sweet heart and a bit of a diva! She knows how great she looks and smells when she gets home from The Dirty Dog and is so proud of herself! She makes sure everyone knows how much she lives The Dirty Dog! My only complaint is they won't give me an appointment! I want to smell good and look good too!

The service that I'm rating is on grooming. Truthfully, if this business was strictly dog grooming I would give them a 1 or 2 star rating.First the Positives: Their online process to register and book an appointment was easy. The staff was communicative. The dog handlers seemed nice.The Negatives: My grooming appointment was scheduled with a block of 6:00AM - 11:30AM, when I called about this, the staff informed me that the groomer does not come in until 9:00AM and so they recommend I get my dog in prior to 8:00AM so that they can prepare her for grooming (Bathing, Drying, Brushing, etc.). However, this was not the case. I dropped my dog off at 7:00AM on my way to work. I get a call at 11:20AM from the staff saying the groomer will need to shave her because of her matting. I informed them, I will come down to see how short they want to go. My initial thoughts are, they attempted to de-matt and just determined that some spots were to severe. However this was not the case, instead no attempt of de-matting of any kind was made and no other services that the full-grooming included was done, which means my dog laid in a crate for over 5 hours before the groomer even saw her. I ultimately decided to let them shave her so I could let her hair grow back out and maintain it myself to prevent matting. Overall, I feel that the grooming service was poor and lazy. If I saw that they at least attempted to de-matt my Goldendoodle by bathing, drying, brushing, combing, and using a de-matter claw/tool, then I would see that some effort was put in and be more accepting, but that was not the case.

I have been taking my dogs to The Dirty Dog for grooming and boarding and we love the facility and staff. I have several older dogs and I don't have to worry about them while they are in day care or boarding. The knowledgeable staff work hard to assess the needs of each individual dog and what it takes to make them happy and keep them safe. I have one very old girl that goes in for grooming and they are very gentle and loving with her. When I have to board my dogs I know that they will get personal attention and will not be sitting in a kennel day and night when I am gone. This gives me a lot of peace of mind and not feel so bad about leaving them. I feel very fortunate to have such a great place for my dogs in town. I used to have to drive to Kansas City when I needed boarding to get the care I wanted for my dogs. I highly recommend The Dirty Dog!

There is no better place to take your fur-babies! Mandi had the biggest heart and not only goes above and beyond for each animal but always does what she can for the owners, too. My dog LOVES Mandi and even after moving an hour away, I still make that drive to Topeka to have her groomed. It’s more than worth it. Mandi has become like family and I can only imagine that everyone else feels the same way!!!

I'd like to give a better review. The problem is I had an 11:30 appointment scheduled for my dog to be groomed. This was my first visit and based on the reviews I felt comfortable. Problem is what I was not told was that my dog would be there for 6 hours. I do not understand why you would schedule an 11:30 appointment when you in fact we're not going to groom the dog until 5 hours later. Not only was my dog stressed out which isn't really the big issue, but I also specifically said I did not want the hair on his ears cut which they were. This isn't so much a complaint as there was no mistreatment and my dog came out looking okay but I don't expect my dog to have to be there for 5 hours. If your groomer is booked that solid either schedule another day or schedule me for 4pm not 11:30 in the morning. I don't like giving this kind of review I really don't but I think it's fair to let people know your appointment time is not just an hour or two different it could be 6. I did in fact give the groomer a $5 tip just because I'm not a jerk.

I took my dog in this week for grooming. I had taken him here in December and was happy with the service and the cut. This week not so much. Something has changed with how this place is run in the last 3 months. Much different feel from the moment I made the appointment. What I understood from my previous experience is that you make an appointment for a specific time and the dog would be groomed close to that time. This week my dog sat in a kennel for a least 4 hours before he was worked on. The groomer called me before she started and asked how I wanted him cut. That was all written and covered in our first appointment, but oh well, I told her what I wanted. Not sure she heard me though because she did the opposite as I had asked for on his beard. Not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker was his long wait in a kennel. It was obvious that he was not taken outside during his long stay by his urgency to pee all over their sidewalk the moment we walked outside. Also, the groomer was very aggessive with his toe nail trimmer, or I so guess. My poor dog could barely walk when he got home. I called the groomer immediately after I got home to find out what happened, but she didn't feel it necessary to return my call. I left a message today for the ower to call me back, but again no one took the time to call me back.My dog was so traumatized by the experience that he was dispondant the rest of the day. I am obviously never going to bring him back to this place.

It's hard to rate a service that I wasn't able to fully observe. I have seen other reviews saying that the grooming was wrong, the dog was bitten, or things were damaged or missing. I can say that the boarding service was acceptable, in that my dog came back home healthy and safe. She did drink almost a full bowl of water as soon as she got home, but anytime a dog is in a new place they can be finicky or stressed and throw off eating/drinking/normal behaviors.The grooming, for what I expected for $30 or more was subpar. She didn't seem any cleaner, but if she was bathed Saturday and played with other dogs for two days then it's pretty understandable. Her nails were only clipped on one foot. If she seemed stressed by the process and they stopped then I would understand that, but maybe figure out a better way to handle it. The only thing I could not handle was that she smelled like she had been doused in perfume. Maybe it was to make her seem more recently bathed, but it was definitely overpowering.Overall, pretty average service. Good boarding, grooming needs improvement.

The Dirty Dog facility is HUGE with indoor & outdoor play areas. Perfect for both my fur babies to run & play with their furry friends. Mandi & her staff keep the place super clean & I appreciate that they are ensure all their clients are up to date in their vaccinations. I won’t take my babies any where when I need to board them.

Great place for my dog to socialize and learn! He is a much different and much better dog now that I've been bringing him to The Dirty Dog for daycare. They are also the only ones I know that my dog would allow to trim his nails... that alone is worth it!Pros:Great environment for all temperaments of dogs, classes will have dogs of similar behaviors, bad behavior is corrected the right way, good behavior is rewarded.Staff is wonderful and truly cares about the dogs in their care. Facilities are amazing for the doggie daycare TAKE A TOUR!!Any questions I ever have, I ask via Facebook messenger, they are prompt to respond and know my dog and his needs very well, even though I only bring him a few times a month.Cons:Occasionally they seem understaffed to the point of employees seeming overwhelmed, but they all have great composure in those instances, and remain truly professional... but I could tell they need more help.Keep up the good work! I am very happy I've decided to bring Ghost to you!

We've always been comfortable leaving our dog with the staff at Dirty Dog, they are kind. Our dog does like the dryers when bathed and they are patient waiting for her to air dry after her bathes.
