Great selection and pricing. Lots of sales. Everything was easy to find. There were 2 check out lanes open on a Saturday afternoon. Employees walking around everywhere and 2 lines that were a solid 15 minute wait. That was rediculous but other than that it was a good experiance.

The whole store seems to lack training and has been getting worse the last several years. For some reason getting hunting/fishing licenses printed off or even reprinted always seems to be a struggle since the store opened. It’s definitely getting worse. This last season on a couple occasions had employees tell me “we can’t do that here”. When I have needed a reprint and a new purchase. Try again several days later with a different employee and magically it’s possible. There’s a difference between not knowing how from lack of training and coming up with an excuse saying it’s not possible. Won’t get upset when somebody says they don’t know how and offer to find someone who does know. I’ll get upset when they try to say “we can’t do that here” when they absolutely can. With a outdoorsman population as large as Kansas has, training how to print/reprint should be prioritized way more than it has been in this store.

Hung up on several times while just trying to check the status of an application. Never asked my name or anything and was cut off every time I tried saying my name. Was hoping to get hired and give folks a better customer service experience, judging by these reviews we can all see they need it.

This is a great store if you're looking for anything sports related but especially perfect when looking for boys/men's clothing. Lots of options & great prices. This store is always clean & the staff is generally helpful. The customer service area can be iffy, but it appears to be due to under-staffing. All in all... a great place to shop.

Went to the store today to pick up a handgun i have been wanting for a few weeks, finally got the money together, over $1,000.00!!! They only had one guy working the counter, named STEVE..i stood there for 30+ minutes waiting for him while he finished up paperwork on a new gun purchase for someone else...no problem there. He told me 3 times that he would be with me "in a minute"... after a half hour of waiting, 2 other guys walked up to the counter and he walks right to them and says "what do you guys need?"...and starts helping them. They had been there for less than ONE MINUTE...i had been standing there for over a half hour and he just blew me off, so i drove to Cabelas and spent over $1,000.00 there! We looked at our bank statement, we spent $10,354.66 at Academy Sports last year...you would think we could get some service here and NOT get blown off!!

Tough to rate, I like the customer service and selection, in person only. I've been hung up on twice calling today and can't get someone to call and tell me I can come get my gun. (They're suppose to call you once approved) This is after 3 weeks. I'm guessing it's a staffing issue because I have no complaints about those I've dealt with in person. I will be back, just sad I can't get some questions answered via phone call.

Meet at the front door by friendly staff member hanging out for fliers for the store. A little disappointed in the amount of items not in stock (ammo & magazines), but it does appear they are starting to get some items back in stock.

It was evening, and due to weather it was probably not their usual crowd; however, all the employees remained positive, attentive, helpful, and sincere!I was truly shocked as it seems when it's slow, many times employees (at a variety of different stores) goof off, are inattentive, let their guard down, appear tired/bored/disinterested, and even act as if you are putting them out. That was NOT what I experienced at Academy, which was surprisingly nice to see for a change!The entire shopping process was impressive (despite being out of stock of a couple items I was hoping to purchase)!Their help, kindness, knowledge of product, teamwork, smiles, friendliness, and positive demeanor had me extremely pleased the entire shopping trip! I even asked the checker if there was a DM currently present due to the GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and how put together everything was...lol.From the greeting I received upon entering the doors, the immediate and ongoing assistance, friendliness, cleanliness, and organization of the store; to the customer service and patience during checkout, this is a well oiled machine that ALL companies should desire to replicate!Thank you for the wonderful shopping experience!

Recently shopped at this location and was impressed by the knowledge of Dylan about his entire department. He was training two new employees and still managed to give everyone one in one service! It was a busy morning and he kept it rolling like a well oiled machine. Ryan the manager was super helpful and thorough in helping us check out. Nice clean store with friendly employees.

The teenagers at the gun counter make it miserable to buy a gun. Their tablet is out of date worn out and they will not save the correct answers on a background check.Avoid this joke of a place

The employees here always appear happy, relaxed and helpful. Store is so clean and I love the Magellan line of clothing! Way better than Columbia and I own a lot of Columbia. Keep up the good work!

You had everything I needed for my fishing trip to Alaska. It was well worth the drive from Lawrence.It was a bit challenging to find someone to help me with questions, but I managed to get everything sorted out. Btw...It was great to see the ammo section well stocked again.

I went to get my pick-up order today after being notified that it was ready. Waited 15 minutes and decided to go in and see what the hold up was as the parking lot was vastly empty. I'm glad I did. No one was working the customer service desk and their device that tells them that a customer is waiting was left unattended at the service desk. The employee working at the entrance asked if I needed anything and I let him know the situation. I then find out that my order was not ready, thankfully it was only 2 bags of charcoal. This wouldn't have been a big deal normally. However, I am unable to walk or stand for any amount to time without pain due to an injury. I will not be using their service again, and will not shop there due to not being able to get what I need due to the lack of physical ability to shop in their store.

Wide variety of products to choose from. End of summer so I should have expected it, but heir sandal selection was pretty picked-over. Friendly staff, and clean store. No line to checkout so that was a pleasant surprise. Got what I needed and got out.

I went to the store to buy a handgun. Even though i had found the gun i wanted, they said they were out of stock, they told me to look online and check the box that says "Sold in-store only" ...i did that and every gun i looked at said "Ships to Store in 4-5 days". I called the store and they said "yeah, a 3rd party runs that site and its never accurate". So, the store is out of stock on everything and the website is not accurate?!?!?! Maybe you should STOCK THE ITEMS YOU CLAIM TO SELL AND GET A NEW WEBSITE DEVELOPER!

Came here to buy something for a school district. Had some issues with having the right tax exempt number. The manager acted like she could NOT be bothered with this. Would not come over and help. Would not offer solutions. Did not even speak to me as a customer. Literally gestured brushing me off from the distance.Might be great for a stop in and buy exactly what you know you need, but don't count on any service for an unusual situation. Staff doesn't seem to have the time or energy for that.The greater was very nice and a great smiling face to see when you walk in the door.
