Very helpful sales assistant helped me find what I needed. She was fantastic and knowledgeable.The rental guy rented out a trencher saying it could do 8 inches when it was only able to do 2, 3, and 4 inch for flower garden boarders. He didn't know how to work the machine because they had just got it from another store. He didn't think the flat rear tire would be an issue, but did fill it up at my insistence.When I discovered this after driving home with the machine. I called the number on the side of the machine. It rang their home office in Paola. They wanted me transferred to the Salina store, but I refused and insisted they verified what I had discovered that this machine intact couldn't trench 8". Then he told me I would have to take the issue to the store manager in Salina.When I drove almost 20 miles back to the store, I didn't get so much as an apology from the rental guy. He gave me my money back. I asked him about the larger trenches that would require a trailer rental. I was willing to pay the extra $60.00 to get the larger unit. However, I asked them to eat the trailer charge. Which I was told he couldn't do. So I said that was fine, I would go elsewhere.Before leaving, a friendly cashier took my number and a message for the store manager to give me a call.The guy called and was unsympathetic for my hour and half loss of time. He blamed the newness of the machine as to why his rental guy wrongly stated the depth capacity. He stated the machine was a recent acquisition, and they hadn't had time to take it out to do any trenching with it for themselves.He simply wanted to have me rent the bigger machine, which would have been another hour loss, not to mention 40 ish miles in a truck with these gas prices + trailer rental. That's a no-go.Your lack of familiarity with a machine is not your customer's issue.

When I first moved to Salina, I needed some hardware for my apartment and I lost a screw from my desk during the move. I took a matching screw into the store, an employee measured it for me and then walked me around until we found a suitable replacement. I would have been in there all afternoon trying to figure it out if they weren’t so helpful. Pricing is fair from what I can tell, and all of the employees seem friendly.

I shopped at this store today. The front end cashier acted like a Zombie. No greeting, No words exchanged,No, "the price of your purchase is", and no thank you.This is not the first time I've been dissapointioned in the service here at this "small town" retailer but this time is definitely the last time I'll stop in.

I had to rent an auger due to a main sewer problem . I had done extensive research about the issue and was willing to do myself instead of hiring a plumber. I picked up the auger in my van took it to my house witch is about 2 blocks away. Unloaded it began to use the auger upon my first run noticed the reverse was not working properly. Then I manually reversed it and finished up my use of the auger this way doing passes til the clog was gone . Upon my return I notified the check in gentlemen that the reverse was not working correctly. After an hour I was called and told the I had broken the switch, and now had to pay an additional 50.00 . This switch was faulty from my very first use and was not something that I would have noticed being that way. This was my first time renting this type of equipment so I had no clue what a proper switch even looked like. I was also informed that despite the switch being something used by every customer it not covered by the damage waver for being a normal wear item. I am extremely disappointed not being given a proper rental contract at time of renting. I am also disappointed that the red toggle that was never on the auger was blamed on me. (Some how lost and broke in a 2 block trip from the store in a van). The biggest upset was that I was told I was a liar by the employee working there. This event will change my outlook on this store. I hope in the future your rental department discloses to its customers to take photos of its equipment and to check it over before they leave the store.

Waters has always been the place to find that unique gift. I have shopped there many years starting out when it was on S. 9th St. Today I was in the store and it is being remodeled. I am asking if the owner will be selling the 2 old wooden parts bin. The big round one or the smaller square one. Thank you

Bought a set of ball valves that were overpriced to begin with, get to the register to pay and they were over 40% more expensive than the sticker on the shelf... Let them know about and waited 20 more minutes to have them mark the price down (they took it down 20% but couldn't honor the sticker price. This is when I noticed I could use another item, when I went to pay for this item I once again got charged an extra 40% of what the item was marked as. They clearly don't have it together on what the prices actually are. My time is worth more to me than going through this again on products that are marked up over 100% of retail price to begin with.Stores wonder why their customers rarely shop local anymore. People get sick of being having their time wasted and no one knows what the price actually is until they get up front.

Shopping here is great! But DO NOT RENT Their equipment. It is not tested before being rented out again. Rented a tiller it didn't work. Returned it and was told I would get a refund, never happened. Called and the "manager" in the rental department was rude and unprofessional.

I've rented heavy duty sewer snakes here. I've bought a huge variety of plants. They have a shelf by the lawn garden equipment and rentals with "clearance" items which are hugely discounted. I just love this place for tools, rentals, plants, and the list is endless. They have the best grass seed at the best prices in town as has no weeds with a 90 to 95% germination rate. The fine fescue which is what Kansas State University recommends. And so many surprise discounted items that aren't advertised. And the quality of the merchandise, along with the knowledgeable work force, makes it a great place to shop for a wide variety of items. I truly highly recommend this store.

A man on crutches came quickly to help me at the service counter, and quickly located the items I needed to fill my order. I was in search of Stihl chainsaw parts and garage door opener parts, and I was taken directly to them by the staff. I am very satisfied. It's nice to be helped by a staff that appreciates you. I highly reccomend this hardware store. I will be going back.

Went and rented a self-propelled tiller. The check-out process was simple. Morgan then directed where I should park around back and met me there. She proceeded to give me a brief intro on the machine and then helped load it. Upon bringing it back someone helped unload it. I was purchasing a rake, they were able to do the refund for my deposit and the sale of the rake in one transaction which was greatly appreciated. At other places it a go here for one and over to another place for the other. I will most definitely be coming back when I need a rental.

The garden center was much more extensive than I was expecting for this late in the season. Fruit trees fruit bushes perennials annuals the only thing they were really lacking at the moment for the out of season plants such as strawberries, tomatoes and all the other things that are popular from other places early on.

I gladly pay a little higher price here for the most helpful and friendly staff in town. Every employee is knowledgeable of their merchandise and it's location, which is a breath of fresh air when compared to the other big chain hardware type stores in town.
