Very interesting, historical location with monuments & lookout area. Numerous plaques describing events that took place at the site. It sits on the North end of Pawnee Rock, KS. A lot of history in this area. It sits on the highest point in the area, for visibility, to be able to see incoming threats in a time of war. You can go up a winding staircase to the top of the building area & see for many miles in any direction. It's a must-see for anyone, with some light hiking areas around the Rock. It's a really neat place to visit & learn about the area & time when it was built. Highly Recommended for anyone to check out!!!

Very clean except for the impossible to get tiny shards of broken glass. There was a guy on a horse too. Great photo opp

It's not the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone but this place is pretty cool. The local story is, during its era, it was used to spot Indian movement and alert Fort Larned if needed. It was also the meeting point of all of the local tribes. Lot's of battles fought near here. They say bones are still found in the area. Great place to picnic with a great view.

Neat spot to pull over for a break if traveling through the area, otherwise not worth driving out of the way for. Only really accessible in a car. I tried to pull my camper in and while I barely squeezed it in I probably wouldn't do it again. There is a narrow gate with an immediate 90° turn that is very difficult to navigate with any kind of long rig.

Looking westward from Pawnee Rock in 1846 the ground as far as the horizontal was covered with roaming bison.

This place was way cooler than I was led to believe! The history of the site makes it worth a stop if you're in the area. The platform and monument is cool, but the amazing thing is seeing the names of all the travelers who came through on the Santa Fe Trail. The rock face is completely covered in names. There is a really nice picnic area, but no restrooms. There is also a nice path with plaques describing about the history of Pawnee Rock.

I drove upon a historical marker and followed it here. What a beautiful serene place this is. You are free to get out and walk around as you please. There are no restrooms. there is a picnic area with a grill. You are able to go up on the memorial and view from above the city below. Absolutely breathtaking I enjoyed this very much. Free of charge

Enjoyed visiting and standing where people have stood for hundreds if not thousands of years. The views of the surrounding prairie are magnificent. The history markers do a great job of telling the significance of Pawnee Rock, though some have been vandalized. Seeing the graffiti of travelers from the 1870's was interesting as well.

Historic landmark. The rock has been altered over the years and the plaques describing the history and scenery are in need of repair. One looked like it had bullets holes in it. But it's interesting in that it juts out of the prairie and was a meeting place for the Pawnee people. Great views.
