Elaine has a true love for cats and puts the cats needs first. Most of the negative reviews are from people that are sour about not meeting the application requirements. There is an application process for a reason. She wants to make sure it would be a good fit and the cat will be in a forever home. I know first hand the heartbreak it causes when it doesn't work out. If you want to adopt from someone that truly cares for cats, I 100% recommend Purrfect Pets.

I tried to adopt Coconut for my elderly parents who recently lost their dog. And 2 years prior lost their cat, Tom. My parents are so loving to animals, and these JERKS had the audacity to say they would not let my parents adopt Coconut because the cat would most-likely outlive my parents.I got 2 previous cats from them.NEVER AGAIN!!!JERKS!!!!!!

They shut me up and wouldn't let me adopt a cat, simply because my girlfriend wasn't 21. How does my partner affect my ability to care for an animal. Are parents banned from adopting too? Their kids aren't 21. What a joke.

We recently adopted a kitten who we adore! The facility was clean and the cats well cared for. I appreciate the adoption application making sure that new owners wont declaw as this is a harmful practice, as well as ensuring the cats will always be indoors. Our new baby is healthy and happy, and getting along great with our older cat. I would 100% recommend this rescue and would absolutely adopt from here again!

Hey I personally think this organization has the right to question people’s motives who want to adopt a kitty from them. They have to ensure their meows are leaving a safe and healthy home with them and MOVING UP. Not downgrading. Just saying. I’m a cat lover and obviously this agency is as well.

Elaine wouldn't let me adopt a kitten due to a misunderstanding about the kitten not going outside. I'm in a 3rd story apartment! She told me the cat was a lap cat, so I thought maybe the cat COULD join me on my porch, if she felt comfortable. The fact that she wouldn't respond via call, text or email to discuss, was totally unprofessional. All I wanted was a pet for me (an experienced pet owner) and my son to take care of. On to a better place...

Elaine refused to consider me for adopting a cat, plain and simply because "we normally don’t adopt to people who have multiple roommates." If you can fit into this organization's absurd adoption policies, best of luck to you. I can only hope the pets they have are able to find a home.

I adopted Impurrator Furriosa (formerly Bernadette) at Purrfect Pets in 2018. They processed the application quickly and let me know asap when they had a kitten that was a good fit for me (I was looking for a long haired kitten). She has grown to be a wonderful companion and a beautiful cat!

If I could give a zero star I would. First I called before visiting asking about a specific kitten that was pictured on line, Kimberly answered my call and proceeded to tell me unfortunately that kitten had been already adopted. She did send me via text a picture of 5 kitties, all brothers and sisters that would arrive the following day about 1 pm. I gave her my name and told her we (my husband, myself, 2 kids ages 13 & 15) would be there. Arriving at noon Elaine opened the door, I explained that I talked with Kimberly about the cats. Very rudely she shared that an appointment was set up at 12:30 for someone else to see the kittens. She was very adamant about not letting people visit unless they were planning to adopt, so the kittens didn’t get scared, which I found odd considering the location of their facility is inside a very popular mall. She did let us go back to see the kittens, we were very interested in two. She told us the kittens were sick but let us handle them regardless. While in the back room we noticed a young thin cat soiled in dried feces freely walking around while all the other cats were in cages. That was a definite turn off but we were still interested in adopting. I filled out the adoption application honestly. We currently do have dogs and wanted to expand our family with 2 kitties. We live in a nice sized home in Olathe. I wrote that they would be indoor cats. Another question arose about declawing the cats, I have very mixed feelings about declawing. So she proceeded to explain the declawing process, so I asked is it wrong to declaw an indoor cat. She looked up and gave me a look of disgust and told me to do my research. I guess that was my answer. Elaine told me that she would have to call our vet to verify that we used one. Later that day via text she explained that these kittens would probably not adjust well with dogs also they would not release them if they were going to be declawed. My husband called up there and explained that we would not declaw kittens, rudely she replied with the kittens not fit to be around dogs, plus they currently don’t have ANY cats available at this time that would be compatible with dogs. I thought that to be very strange considering they probably had at least 30 cats in their facility. We have a King George Cavalier and a maultese/Yorky, very chill dogs.I grew up with dogs and cats my whole life and have never had this to be a problem. Basically they signed off saying “Good luck in your search for the perfect kittens.”I think they should hang a sign on their front window. ADOPTION ONLY TO A DOG FREE HOME!I truly think they should rethink their location and all around mission. Animals should go to people that will care and love them. There are plenty of other places/shelters.Don’t waste your time here, adopt elsewhere!

My husband and I recently found a stray kitten in our backyard that desperately needed help. She was starving and shivering in the cold. We knew that we had to help her. We really struggled with the idea of keeping the kitten but ultimately we decided that it was best to find a suitable place for her since we already have two rescue cats that struggle with their own issues. We did not want to rehome her on the internet because we had no way to ensure she would be safe and that was our utmost priority. We searched multiple local rescues and shelters, all were full. Purrfect Pets was by far the most responsive and compassionate facility that we found! They were able to help us by taking in the sweet kitten. My husband and I were quite sad on the way to drop her off because we had admittedly gotten quite attached to her in the short time we had her but once we arrived to meet Elaine we felt so at ease! We knew that this sweet girl would be treated with the utmost care. I love that there is an extensive adoption application and in-depth vetting of potential adopters. I have complete confidence that she will be going to a perfect and lifelong home. The Purrfect Pets staff was absolutely amazing. I will definitely support them in the future and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

The cats and kittens go through a thorough check when surrendered. The rooms and cages are clean and not over populated.

I do not recommended wasting your time with this place at all. They place their political agenda over the well-being of the cats. If you say you might declaw the cats in the future then they won't even consider letting you adopt like it's torture to the cats or something. I have had cats berfore that have been declawed because I lived in an apparment with expensive furture. They lived well into their early 20s and they were indoor cats. My application was completely truthful and they still didn't even call or contact. I was told that I had been sent an email about my application, but I never received one.

We adopted our beautiful kitty at the Purrfect Pets rescue ... actually, we volunteered to foster her, quickly fell in love, and decided we wanted her to be ours forever! Please consider adopting your own rescue cat or kitten!

I understand why we are not allowed in and got to watch whoever was working trying to work while the kitten was constantly wanting him to play. The worker was getting up every couple of minutes and it was adorable to watch

Very selective. Would try a shelter first. Not a great experience and felt judged in a way. They didn’t feel comfortable with me adopting a cat because I live in an apartment.

Absolutely absurd reason for not letting us get a kitten. They declined us simply because we allow our cat on the balcony, I mean are you serious?!?

If I could give them zero starts I would because they are so rude and wrongfully accused me of lying. Elaine wouldn’t even let me look at the available cats. She was was very condescending and demeaning. She was asking me about my home ownership and I understand that part but this lady wanted to know too much personal information and it was insane. She called me dishonest about my living situation when my dead grandpa owned my house which was given to me from my parents. Like lady did you want to see the title? I know the commitment of owning a cat I already have one and I want another. Elaine thinks I am lying and will put my cat in a shelter or let it go. If she would of read my application I clearly stated that’s something I would never do regardless of how the kitty is. I will just pray for those cats and I hope they will go in a good home (a forever home) because it doesn’t seem like that’s what they want for those kittens.

I had to surrender a stray mom cat and her kittens because I wasn't allowed to have them at my home. Elaine was very responsive and very kind. When I dropped off the kitties, she asked great questions and assured me that they would find them great homes. She made me feel a lot better about my decision to surrender them and made me believe they would be well taken care of and great homes will be found for them.

WELL....I can honestly say that those bad reviews should all be IGNORED!!! I had the best experience with the owner and staff and can say that I am now the proud owner and lover of 2 adorable/sweet/affectionate/and healthy male and female 9 month old siblings! These 2 kittens were in the shelter since they were 2 months old and they must have been given a lot of love and attention these past 7 months as these are great kittens! These kittens came neutered/spayed/with age appropriate tests and shots and worming PLUS a free wellness exam at a local vet clinic. Purrfect Pets is very selective who they allow to adopt their animals for good reason so of course people will write bad reviews when they are turned away. I highly recommend this facility - they will treat you like family!

We’ve gotten 2 kitties from Purrfect Pets and referred friends and we are all very happy with them. We’ve also stopped in many times just to see the kitties. Anyone who has cats knows they can get stressed with a lot of people/activity so we didn’t take offense that only people who were serious about adopting were allowed in back. If you want to just see kitties, there are 2 rooms with windows up front. I also know not all cats do well with little kids so instead of being angry they didn’t adopt to you, please consider being grateful they didn’t let you adopt a cat that wouldn’t a good fit in your home. Their reason for being there is to find good homes for these kitties and it would cause heartbreak for all if it didn’t work out.

I adopted 2 cats from here 11 years ago & found them to be very caring & made sure that they found great homes for all their cats. They are very clean & caring with all of the cats. This is absolutely where will go again if I adopt any other cats. Excellent place to adopt from.

We adopted two kittens here. Beware all the cats are sick. Ours were sick and we couldn't have them for a week. We've had them now for a about four months maybe longer. Still sick. We've spent at least $1,000 at the vet. The first free visit to vet by perfect pet we discovered that the kittens were barn cats. Free I might ad. We paid $300 for them at perfect pet. Flipping kittens. Again, beware you'll get sick cats they may get your family sick along with your other pets

Not kid friendly at all. The woman told me that no one under 7 should have a cat than told me about all the cats they were having a problem adopting out because they were black. We were specifically looking for a black cat and even though they had several, the woman refused to show us any. I would not recommend this place whether you have children or not.We went to Greats Plains SPCA in Merriam, where we adopted our last cat, and immediately found the cat we brought home that same day. We were seriously looking to adopt a cat and I can't believe that because we have children we somehow wouldn't be a good home.

I had to twist the lady's arm to even get her to let me look at the cats here. I understand only wanting serious potential adopters back there with the kittens, but I'm not some gaggle of little girls just wanting to pet kittens. I had read online that their "inventory", if you will, of cats is often not up to date, so I took time off work and drove to the mall, which I hate due to my anxiety, just to get a feel for the place and see if anyone jumped out at me. I made it clear I had every intention of adopting a cat or kitten the coming Monday (in 4 days) when my husband is off work, and she basically said then come back then or pay the adoption fee today (without input from my husband on which one). She seemed really aggressive, defensive, and I kinda got the feeling she didn't want to adopt out any of these cats as she made absolutely zero effort to talk to me about the animals.I just lost an elderly cat earlier this week that I'm heartbroken over and I told her that the reason we are looking to adopt is so that his sister isn't companionless. At the mere idea that we already had another cat in the home (without knowing anything about her or bothering to ask) she looked scandalized. She let me see the kittens but the second I turned around to ask her a question she was gone. I guess all the info I need is where they are housed (piles and piles of kittens in stinky boxes) and what they look like. She obviously thought I wasn't serious and had tricked her into letting me see the kittens. The other reviews here tell me it's not just my anxiety talking, which I truly had wondered.

My wife and I have fostered cats and kittens for Purrfect Pets for several years. It is unfortunate that some people have felt the need to post negative reviews. We have seen first hand the amount of love, time and energy that the owner Elaine and her volunteers put in caring for the cats and kittens. I have no idea how many cats and kittens that Elaine has taken in so that they could have a chance to live out a happy life in a loving forever home. Please remember that this is a non profit, no kill, volunteer based adoption center. Elaine and her volunteers spend many many many tireless hours caring for the cats and kittens. They do everything in their power to be sure the cats and kittens are as healthy as possible and that every kitty has the best chance they can to be placed in a loving forever home.Elaine is sincerely dedicated to taking the best possible care of every kitty that she can. It would be much easier just to let anyone adopt any kitty that they want. But not all kittys are a good fit for all homes. Elaine and her volunteers get to know the kittys and do their best to judge what type of home would be best for each kitty and which kitty the adopter would be most happy with. There are two things that some people do not understand. The application process is an attempt to place the kitty in a good home environment and for the adopter to be as happy as possible with their kitty. Also living in the adoption center can be stressful for some cats and only allowing serious adopters to handle the kittys is necessary to ensure the kittys stay as happy and healthy as possible.I am amazed at how low the adoption fees are considering the costs of veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neutering, food, litter, rent, utilities etc.So if you are looking for a cat or kitten please make an appointment and visit Purrfect Pets. Hopefully you will be happy you did and hopefully a cat or kitten will have a loving forever home with you.

I made an appointment to visit the cats here with the intent to adopt. After I filled out their forms, the woman working informed me that they don't let college students adopt cats. But she said it in a really confusing way like "we don't recommend students adopt," just not very direct about their policy. While I understand that they're trying to ensure the cats' well-being and decrease the likelihood of future abandonment, they should have advertised that they will only cater to certain groups of people. I am 23, in my last year of college, have future employment, and told them I was serious about adopting. If you are a student, I would not recommend that you waste your time here.p.s. couldn't even look at the kitties :(

I adopted a kitty about three months ago, and I now own a beautiful sweet companion. I have not experienced any of the negative occurances of other reviewers. My kitty was already spayed and front declawed, but I did notice there was a statement about declaring in the contract which I was told didn't apply to me since she was already declawed. My kitty is STRICTLY an indoor cat so she wouldn't need claws for protection.I have asked several times if I could contact the previous owner for history information about my kitty, but it seems. That they refuse to grant my request, or even to notify me of their decision! I only wanted to learn about my new pet's life, (18 months), prior to me obtaining her? Otherwise, everything has been wonderful.Onl

I understand what this organization is trying to do but they don’t have very good business practices. We picked out 2 kittens and my kids were so excited. We bought collars, name tags, beds, toys etc. They sent us videos and pics of the kittens for about a week and a half. Then when I asked when they would be ready to go home they said more information was needing in my past cat ownership. I told them I had an indoor/outdoor cat whom we loved and he ran away. I explained that these kittens would be indoor only and I would get a microchip. They said they could no longer adopt the kittens to us. We were heartbroken. Their application process needs to be looked at. They are promising cats and then changing their minds.

I am planning a third adoption from Purrfect Pets, having just lost my first such cat from an adoption at Metcalf South 20 years ago!The founder of this agency is the best advocate of proper cat ownership in the midwest. She takes each animal in, as her own, and sees to it that it is sent out into a safe, loving world. If you intend to let your cat outside to face the dangers, or plan to amputate it’s digits GO SOMEPLACE ELSE!

If I could do a negative star would. My grandchildren and I feel in love with 2 kittens who were siblings. I filled out the adoption papers and the woman became very upset when I said that I had declawed my previous cats. I assured her I was open to not doing it and she said she would let me know. After not hearing anything for 4 days I went over and one of the kittens was gone and another lady told me they were waiting for someone to pick up the remaining sibling.I then talked to who I assume was the owner. She told me because I had previously declawed my cats she wouldn't let me have a kitten. I asked her why she didn't tell me this when I was originally there. I then asked her if.she had contacted my vet and why she hadn't let me know I wasn't going to be able to adopt the kittens. She said no as far as calling my vet that I wasn't a responsible pet owner which is really far from the truth. I actually had given my cat fluids subq. When he started into kidney failure. Does that sound like an indifferent pet owner. Then she said that she had sent me an email and when told i never received it she very rudely asked if i ever read my emails. She has to be one of the rudest people I've encountered in a long time.I then adopted 2 kittens who were brothers from Kitty City KC. They were fabulous, even when I told them about declawing past cats. We discussed it and i am in process of training them to use a scratching post. Seeing how close my guys are couldn't imagine splitting up siblings. Happy to have my guys. Thank you Kitty City KC😻
