This animal shelter is amazing! I adopted a kitted on 7/28/22. The day before we found this place online with the cutest kitten and I new I had to get her. My boyfriend submitted the application online and they got back to us the same day about adopting the kitten. They told us she is a very sweet and affectionate cat so we payed them the money to hold her from being adopted by others. The next day I went and picked her up and they gave me cat food, toys and lots of treats for my new kitten. I didn’t even fully meet her or see her until I put her in my car and opened the carrier they gave me. I was immediately obsessed with her! They were 100% correct that she is so affectionate and the sweetest kitted she could be. The staff was so nice and I strongly recommend adopting from this business! Adopt don’t shop.

I am sure their services are great, but I have called three times to schedule an appointment to get feral cats spayed and neutered and they have yet to call back (I started calling them in December). I understand this is probably not their top priority, but it shouldn't take this long to just get a call back.

I adopted my cattle dog mix from this shelter in February and even though the learning curve was high (they told me she was potty trained -- she wasn't) I'm so thankful that I went here to get my baby!She is currently training to be a therapy dog, and by Fall, she should be fully certified.Additionally, through DNA testing, someone noticed that Miel looked like their dog. I hope I can get into contact with them soon. Miel might have a sibling! I didn't see the message until recently so I hope I can get a response from them.

I am a over the road truck driver and I stop by to pick up a dog. I named her Sasha for the first couple of weeks she was very nervous and didn’t like to be touched. The day I brought her home she hid in a box and watched the other dogs. When she saw how the other dogs around me she started to come to me for love. It took a few months before she would be willing to lay down and cuddle. Now I can’t go anywhere without her she has been by my side for a little over six months. I feel it’s been a blessing to watch her recover. I only wish she could tell me her story but she put all that behind her and is a very happy dog today.

We adopted 3 beautiful sweet amaxing kittens from here! Luna, Eggman and cuddle buddy ❤️ They took amazing care of all of the animals they were looking after and we Def love our three ❤️ thank you for helping us find our fur babies we love them so much!

Great place to adopt an animal. The staff is very friendly and passionate about the animals there. The place is very clean and organized. The prices are lower than the shelters in Topeka or Lawrence. I got my most recent dog (the black one in pic) from there and he has fit right in like he has ways been here. Highly recomend this place.

They are always so friendly . And have times for you to get shots for your four lagged family member at no cost . Do chipping of them . We had our to dogs chipped there when they did a free time. Cleopatra and weewee .

The people out there are the absolute best with the biggest hearts and they are absolutely wonderful they love the animals they love the people they love what they do and I think they should all be rewarded daily I think they're wonderful they do need more donations of time and money always but they need donations of supplies for the animals and to keep the place clean and you know toys and things for the pets to play with and just General Nutrition type things they have less there a better available to anyone who would inquire just give him a call or go in and look at the pets look at the animals they're beautiful very very beautiful and they're they're all loving animals and they need homes they all need good loving homes permanent ones good families everyone wants a family and they're no different they want a family too and they deserve it they're loving caring giving for forgiving creatures that just want to be loved so give yourself that gift take one home forever you'll never be lonesome and you'll always have a bestie!

I have been looking for a dog for a while now. When I saw one of the dogs online who had JUST been posted, I filled out an application immediately. When I was emailed with more about her, she sounded like the perfect fit. I live an hour away and work remotely, but due to the timeframe, I was unable to take immediate time off. I got time off that day at 4 to leave early and make it to my 5:30 appointment. My application had been approved and everything. I just received an email that they already adopted out the dog to someone who made it there first and it’s a first come first serve basis. This seems “basis” does not seem to be in best interest of the dog given now I cannot even be considered. The dog automatically goes to the family who happened to have the money and the freedom to make it there before me even though I did everything in my power to get there as soon as I can. Who knows if I would have been a better fit for the pup than the people who made it there first. As a young adult who is working hard, this has made it impossible for me to add a shelter pup to my home. The communication between me and the shelter was always pleasant, just bummed I (and other families in my shoes) have to miss out on opportunities because their policy is only in favor of the more privileged adopter.

Very helpful Staff. Beautiful Stone Building and Nice facility Inside as well. Located in Ottawa Kansas, about a 40 minute drive South on I-35 from Jo. Co. Kansas. Well worth the drive for me. I was able to Adopt a Beautiful little Beagle Mix and the Adoption Rates were very reasonable. Thanks Prairie Paws.

We adopted our puppy from Prairie Paws about 6 weeks ago. The facility and staff are amazing! We were having difficulty with getting our 85 lb dog accepting the antics of a extremely active and annoying baby sister. There were a couple of times we thought we might have to return her for her own safety which was something I only wanted to do as a last resort.I reached out to Prairie Paws and they were so wonderful with their time and their help! Kristina, their trainer called me and offered many tips that allowed us to work with both our existing dog and our new addition. It is still a work in process but knowing that I can contact them at any time if I need help is so reassuring.It is clear to see this is a shelter who is dedicated to finding the best home for their charges and are happy to help new adoptive parents. I can't say enough about how pleased I am that this is where we adopted our little girl from. Thank you Prairie Paws!

Visited Prairie Paws yesterday to pickup supplies for our shelter. They have a very extensive facility. The facility was very clean and didn't smell like an Animal Shelter. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist in anyway possible. Fortunately we weren't there to find a pet otherwise we could have easily have left with a new fur baby. Keep up the good work.

Vanessa was so helpful by offering to post it if I could email a pic and info about Jax. She was supportive just the same when he made it back to me. I'm grateful they are amazing here.

Wonderful staff and facility! Very clean and well maintained. Caring, educated and organized staff who assist you with everything along the way. Provided lots of helpful info when we adopted our dog, Grove Green (now named Quill!), and put us in touch with services that might be helpful down the line. We travelled two hours to adopt from this facility and would happily do it again.

My husband and I got our dog in 2020. The dog that we had wanted for a very long time. Older than we wanted but we were told previous owners couldn’t handle him because he did not do well with other dogs. We did not have any other dogs . The dog had so many health problems, health problems they had to have known about. We were the fifth home he had been to because we were told he doesn’t get along with others. It was clear to us that he DID get along with others. He was just very sick and needed medicine and added care. We noticed immediately he had lethargy and we never got to take him on walks. He was sick and had to be kept outside because of constant diarrhea and vomiting. Vet said he had a bacterial infection that we cleared with antibiotics alongside with possibly Cancer that he sadly passed in September 2021. Devastating loss for our family. Will not adopt from here again.

A great facility, very clean and quiet. We were given a guided tour through the cat rooms by a very helpful gentleman. We have adopted through this facility before by going online and looking through their cats. It was during lockdown so we never got to visit in person. But we Skyped, and all our questions were answered. Highly recommended.

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET YOUR PUP'S NAILS CLIPPED!!! We adopted our Lab mix from here in July, they were SUPER helpful in the adoption process. We then found out that they clip nails for donations!Y'all, when I say they are great with our dog, that is an understatement! Phoenix doesn't like people to mess with her paws or nails, but they are patient with her, give her lots of treats and love, and they clip them 1 by 1 slowly so she doesn't get stressed out.If she starts getting stressed and panting, they will stop clipping and let her go run a few laps in the playpen.When we adopted Phoe, she didn't like my husband. She was very scared of him and clung to my side. Dawn (the adoption specialist) gave us some training treats to take home, and gave my husband some tips to get her warm up to him. I think she likes him more than me now!!These folks are very nice and easy to work with. We make donations here any chance we get to make sure the shelter and the animals are taken care of.THANK YOU PRAIRIE PAWS!!!
