I wrote the review below a LONG time ago but since then the people have changed and actually have really nice people there now and doing a great job with their seasonal department. Lots of flowers. And some things are comparable to Home Depot and Menards but Orchelens still has them beat on some prices. Best to compare!Their people skills are just not there. Never have been. I was a little upset with management because i found two items i wanted and one was in the wrong place and was the only one there. I kinda understand but when you have an attitude that my buisness is just not that important it really turns me off. And the wrong price tag was up so high you can't read anything but price. Its an okay place to go if you can't leave town but calling first is the best idea. Also the prices are higher than your bigger stores.

Every other time I’ve been here the Gardening customer service has been phenomenal. Scott and Patrick are always going above and beyond with their kindness and courtesy. But my last visit....purchased multiple heavy items and asked for assistance. Was told to pull up at the gate and they’d meet me. Since no one came around, I proceeded to load up the items myself. Once I put up my last plant, a female employee came around, just standing there, continued to watch me. Then asked for my receipt, scribbled on it, then said, “There you go.” She was heavy-set with a round, flat face. No greeting, no apology, no thank you.

We were about to check out and the woman at the register asked my daughter if she got to hold a baby chick, she hadn't and she told us that we could. My daughter loved it! They have always had what I needed and have been very friendly!

I bought my first ever zero turn mover from Home Base and I am so happy with the mower and the customer service. They delivered it for free (I live 15 miles outside of Ottawa) and found out that they will come to my house if I am ever in need of a repair. If they can't fix it at my house they will leave me a loner mower while it is in their shop. I'm so impressed with their service - Thank you Home Base!!

I bought an expensive item there yesterday. Today i had some issues with it. I was not happy. I called them and told them I was on my way. I was expecting a battle when I got there. To my surprise, I was met at the front door by the manager, the gal running the register and another guy ready to make things right. They couldn't have been more helpful. This may have been the best customer service I've ever received. I left happy and fully intend on returning to do business there again.

Horrible Bad Boy Mowers dealer. I purchased a 2021 Renegade here. Obtaining any kind of service or warranty work has proven to be nearly impossible. No technicians seem to ever be working. Of the two techs, store employees have told me not to let one of them touch my machine. Very discouraging to say the least.

Service is hit or miss. People in the gardening section are generally helpful and pleasant. Sometimes when I ask the employees in the store a question, they act like they'd rather do anything than help me. I have had multiple interactions where the employees were rude.

The staff has ALWAYS been super helpful. Manager Eric is awesome - even took my phone and figured out what my husband needed and walked down the list with him on the phone. He also walked me through doing the pantry shelves for my pantry and getting me every little piece I needed that I had not thought about. All the other employees have been amazing as well...as I go in multiple times a week due to renovating our home. They always go with me and help me find what I need. Thank you thank you for taking away the stress of searching nonstop and not making it home with what I really needed. And always being respectful!

Clean and well stocked store. Everywhere I went I ran into an employee who were all very kind and knowledgeable of all the products in their store. Tim checked us out at the register and was very friendly and polite. There was a young man in the garden center who helped me find down spout extensions, dont know what his name was. Store was not crowded and almost everyone was wearing a mask. I definently see myself shopping here again in the future.

I appreciate having a home improvement store in town. (Appreciate anything that keeps me from having to drive into the metro.) I don’t mind that prices are a bit higher since I’ve not wasted time and gas to go to Olathe. Every time I’ve been in, I’m asked repeatedly if I need help locating an item. During the virus, they’ve even taken my order over the phone and brought my purchase out to my truck. Great customer service!

There are a few "seasoned" gentlemen employed here that are pleasant to talk to and can walk you to any widget in the store. Not only do they ask what they can help you with; but also ask the application of the item and engage in intelligent conversation about it, offering alternatives if by the off chance the part is not available. I appreciate their customer service and the time they save me. I am getting ready to head into DIY to get some items for a plumbing project so I'll be going there a minimum of 3 times today! I appreciate the store hours too.

They had some nice corral gates we were looking at. Unfortunately they were not labeled correctly and pricing was everywhere. We went inside and asked about pricing and we were directed to the front. We went to approach a younger guy at the front and he was anything but happy to have to talk to anyone. He said he couldnt help us without a sku... that wasnt on the gates 🤦‍♀️. He acted like we were bothering him. It was my first time in and I will never go back.

I purchased a lawn mower and had a few issues with the machine. The general manager (Tim) and service manager (Melvin) did everything they could to make it right. They will even pickup and deliver if you happen run into an issue like this. This was a big deal for me since I live 40 minutes away from the store. Kudos Guys!

Almost fogot why I stopped shopping here, today I remembered. This $12.99 36"x64" blind box, actually measured less than 30". The 5.6mi drive back to store for exchange was met with a joke "it extends" (it doesn't) and said "well it scans as 36" blinds". We brought our tape measure in store to verify to store employees. I'm surprised there hasn't been complaints like this before. Found a 36"x64"box which measured 38". Thinking this will do we walked to sales counter. Sales member said easier for him to do exchanges for store card members (we are not), so he needed drivers license to scan. Personally been in sales I know thats just his way of saying "I only know how to exchange one way".Sales members never said; sorry for this inconvenience or we'll be sure to take those off the shelves.

The customer service in this location leaves a lot to be desired. This is my 4th visit, I have never been greeted or asked if I would like any help. The last 2 visits I have been looking for an item advertised, it has not been available, store employees and management have no idea when it may arrive. I really would like to purchase the sale item. This store is approximately 65 miles, one way, from my home. This store is a small Home Depot type store and I am glad to have this in the general area but I don't really enjoy shopping thereThe next closest Home Base is 90 miles one way. Home Depot and Menards is approximately 90 miles one way also.

When a customer comes in to shop and politely asks a question with a smile to a sales associate, there is absolutely no reason at all for them to be down right rude and sarcastic. I just don't understand the hatred and rude nature of some of the employees at this location. While this store has a lot of the things I need, I believe I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. How about treating your customers with a little bit more respect?

My wife and I found water and pest damage around one of our windows that turned into gutting an 8' x 10' section of wall, in and out. Home Base had everything we needed to complete our repairs in stock with several options to choose from on most items. The lack of competition in the area is reflected in their prices though. Thankfully they offer a military/veteran's discount that offsets some of the mark up.

The store is fine and the people who work there are okay also, but the website is about the worse I've seen. Trying to get into the Ottawa Kansas store site and it keeps taking me to two different TX stores. Plus the product lacks valuable information like size, length and price.

It has been a long while almost a year since being here and today confirmed why we do not visit this place anymore!! We bought 4 blinds (3) sticker said 39"x64" they measured 38" 1/2"x 64. The the (1) with sticker of 36"x 64" we had to drive 11 miles total to go back and exchange due to fact that it measured 29" 1/2" on box. When we arrived, because I was a girl I was told "It extends" (which it does NOT)! Who ever put $12.99 blinds on display would have seen the difference, but instead we find the correct 36" blinds next to the 30" blinds! Needless to say we will never shop here again it had been a while for a reason. Before we had problems with asking questions and not getting any answers due to inexperienced help with NO one around to answer questions.

Excellent place for random parts and pieces for whatever home project you may have. And then some.Update: After working a bit more on houses the layout of the store is probably setup more for folks experienced with all the proper nouns, I am not one of those people. But after a couple of visits, it's not all too confusing.

Poor customer service never followed up on product on raincheck. Told me I didn't need to call, said they would call when item came in, but waited another month and no call. Another add came out listing the item so I called again they said they had no record of my name or raincheck but I had kept my receipt. Go to store pickup items finally, do some shopping while I'm there and the new items I was purchasing they tried to charge me full price instead of the discounted sale price in their add. Its bad when you have to explain to a business how to operate.

Went in to buy some lumber, needed a couple cuts. The “manager” tried to charge me $2 a cut on some 1x2s. My own fault for trying to shop here, never had a good experience since they opened. The staff are not very knowledgeable, aside from Don. My advice would be to shop our local lumber and hardware stores.

New address and name for the DIY store we had previously. It's a decent sized do it yourself store for a small town. I'm going to love it. The garden center is going to be absolutely huge. I'm so excited I can hardly wait, come on spring!!!

Great variety of parts and pieces in a lot of different departments.The prices tend to be a bit higher than you can find on the internet - but the parts are right there in your hands instead of waiting a few days.Plus, with the big selection of parts I can dry fit parts to make sure I have everything I need.

Bigger selection than the old store, but expensive prices as well. This chain has always had higher prices but, since the switch over, the prices seem to have gone even higher. Almost always short on the lumber I need. They do have the hard to find items for a small town but, there's almost always a premium price. Shop here only when other places in town don't have what I need. Sorry.

Went there on Wednesday the day after receiving the spring sales flyer. Of the 4 things I was shopping for they either had 0 or only one color of the items. The ceiling fan they said was in the back. After waiting for 25 minutes no fan. If you are going to have a sale make sure you have the merchandise.
