Dr. Carita Meyer at the Cat Clinic is fantastic. My 2yr old male cat, Porcini, was unwell over the weekend, vomiting a couple of times, eating/drinking very little, and keeping to himself. Even though the weather wreaked havoc with appts, I was able to get him in at Tues 4pm.This was my first visit to Blackbob Pet Hospital, and I came here because of several referrals from both cat/dog people I know. I was very impressed with the way the cat examining rooms are set up to minimize fear and help calm cats. They have cat toys, a climbing apparatus on the wall, and places for cats to hide. (My cat is a "hider" but still investigated everything.) Porcini was definitely calmer than he had been at our previous vet.The vet techs were professional, friendly and good with Porcini. Dr. Carita Meyer was awesome. She asked me many questions to find out what could be happening, examined him, and she came up with a treatment plan. We took bloodwork and discovered he had pancreatitis. After some IV fluids (he was dehydrated, too, from not drinking enough) and a shot to calm his tummy (pancreatitis can cause them a very painful tummy ache), we went home. Within an hour he had perked up and went to his water bowl and started drinking. He ate a spoonful of wet food and held it down. The next morning, it was like he was almost his old self! He was up and about, drinking and eating like normal, with no vomiting or apparent stomach upset. He even brought me his mouse to throw and play fetch with him!I thought the bill was fair, not cheap but not expensive, and prices were discussed beforehand. They took a lot of time with my pet, which I appreciated. Just a note, I did have to wait 20-25 min for the bloodwork to run, but I was told ahead of time & said I was ok to wait. I ended up spending about 2 hrs there, which was necessary. I wish my "people" doctor would be as thorough with my issues!Another thing that impressed me-- at EVERY other vet I've been to throughout my life, and I was bringing in my pet because of illness, not something routine--if my pet was close or past due on shots, other vets would push to get those done immediately even though my pet was there for illness. I mentioned this to the vet tech, and she thoughtfully explained that they don't believe in doing that, because the pet may feel worse or have an adverse reaction. I LOVE the fact that they are thinking about your pet, not making a few extra dollars. It would have been so easy, but they didn't do it.Dr Meyer also called the day after our visit to check on Porcini to be sure he was doing well, and see if I had any other questions. How great is that?Even though this place is a 30 min drive for me, I will be back because of the professional, great care here. Would definitely recommend for cats.

My cat was limping and needed an exam. He’s afraid of going to the vet and is a difficult patient . The cat clinic handled him like pros. The environment is calming and designed specifically for cats with individual rooms that are clean and have toys. They did an excellent job of working with my cat and I appreciate knowing I can bring him to a place that understands the unique needs of felines.

After 2 er visits and 1 regular vet visit (not here) these wonderful, empathetic humans said they would get my beloved Lucifer in to be seen. The doctor was so sweet, nice, caring, very communicative with me about everything that I needed to know, and even told me she has gone through the same thing with her cats. I couldn't save my kitty, but he is not in pain anymore. If you ever have to put your loved one down, go here. They are nothing short then amazing when it comes to comforting their clients during euthanasia of an animal. This is a far drive from where I live, but after having so many horrible experiences with other vets in town, I finally found my lifelong veterinarian here. I will gladly make the drive. Her tech was also amazingly compassionate, helpful, informative, and empathetic. My Lucifer went so peacefully and comfortably. They even sedated him before the final shot which I liked. So much more humane then what I experienced in 2020 with putting my 17 year old Mia down at another place. You will not be disappointed if you come here. 🤟🏼 RIH Lucifer

Not a big Google review guy, but I do have to give huge respect to the Blackbob Animal Hospital for their service today. (1.18.23) They really took the time to sit down and discuss with me the specific questions I had about about taking care of my cat, as well as making sure he was in tiptop shape. Really recommending these guys..after making a few phone calls today, they got me in the same day and the customer service was top-notch.

I was out of town and needed a refill for an important medication for my dog, and this clinic happily and quickly accommodated the transfer of refill.

I had a pomeranian named Amy with a collapsed trachea issue that started bothering her over the summer, but was a growing issue over the winter and into spring. During a visit regarding her honking cough where she was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea, the doctor told me about a hydrocodone pill that she could prescribe for Amy, but it took time to order so we should do so now to get it in. I agreed to this and they told me they would order it. We returned for appointment after appointment and Amy's honking cough stayed, but there was never any urgency from Blackbob Pet Hospital to get back to me or answer my questions regarding the hydrocodone pill, despite me telling doctors and techs repeatedly that my dog was struggling at home and coughing a lot.I had to go out of town for work and I left my pomeranian in their care for boarding. They let her bark the entire time I was gone and didn't think to tell me at all until I picked her up and I could hear her frantic, honking choking bark from lobby. I asked if the barking was Amy and if she had been barking the entire time. The young tech with the straight brown hair laughed and said, and i quote: "yea, but the barking is like music, we don't even notice it!" I got Amy home and she was honking, gasping, choking for air and struggling to breathe. This continued into the night, and she was choking more than ever before, so I took her to Blue Pearl. The Blue Pearl doctor gave her a hydrocodone pill and an antibiotic to get her inflammation from the barking down so she could finally move some air. It provided her relief and we were finally able to get through a night peacefully. What I want to know is why didn't Black Bob Hospital notice any of this when she was under their care for three days? Why didn't any pet professional who knew about my dogs collapsed trachea think to do anything? Why didn't anyone tell me?The next day after our Blue Pearl visit, I tried again to get an update from Black Bob pet Hospital to find out when the hydrocodone pills would be arriving for my dog. I had been calling constantly, trying to figure out why it was taking so long, and I kept being given such a tremendous cold shoulder and run around... ?? Come to find out, BBPH had never put in the order for the hydrocodone pills despite me asking repeatedly and that now they would have to submit a written order and snail mail it to this one specific pharmacy because of the pills controlled substance status. I was informed this could take several additional days.Over the next several days of waiting, I had to watch my dog gasp, choke, wheeze, and struggle for air. I tried using a humidifier, I tried holding her in the bathroom and running the shower to help, I tried feeding her warm honey. Nothing helped. I never cried so much in my life watching her sit there and suffocate because this hospital promised us help and then ignored us and acted annoyed with me when I would call and try to get answers. My dog had so much life in her before that last visit to Black Bob Pet Hospital, she seemed like one of those indestructible type of dogs who would last forever. I gave up trying to get help for her on mothers day 2023 and ended up taking her to another emergency ER in Overland Park to be put down. I was told repeatedly that a collapsed trachea isn't supposed to be a death sentence diagnosis, so why wouldn't anyone help?! Black Bob Pet Hosital killed my dog by being completely negligent, ignoring her medical issues AND ME, not ordering medications in a timely manner, not alerting me at all that she was barking non-stop while boarded, and they acted like I was drug seeking or something for trying to secure medications that they had recommended to me. After I put my dog down, I received a crappy little "sorry about your pet" postcard in the mail, and I threw that soulless gesture in the trash immediately. This "shrug. you're on your own" type treatment was isolating, cruel, traumatic, and painful for both me and my dog to have her suffer that way. Amy deserved better.

We have used Blackbob Pet Hospital for nearly 20 years for our furbabies. We have always received excellent and swift service from checkups to needed care. Everyone there was loving and caring to our dogs. I highly recommend them. From a loving furbaby mom!

This is where I bring my cats, and the staff is SO sweet to them. They're so kind, and will work with you to find the most affordable but effective treatment options. My kitten, Polaris, loves being there, and rolls around playing with toys in their kitten-friendly exam room! Great place, great folks. Can't speak highly enough of them!

Blackbob Pet Hospital was able to see my dog on an emergency basis when my normal vet was booked. The entire staff was extremely helpful and polite. I was very impressed with Dr. Casey Meyer. My initial visit was thorough and he explained his treatment plan. The office followed up the next day with me and I explained my dog had not progressed from the previous day. They encouraged me to bring him back and have him checked. I saw Dr. Meyer while in the waiting room and he was genuinely concerned for my dog. The visit on the second day was with a different vet but again I was impressed with her treatment and concern for my dog. My dog was seen two times in as many days by this pet hospital even though I was not a regular client. I was truly impressed with their care and concern. I appreciate their willingness to see my dog and I would highly recommend their services.

The schedule was full, but I needed my dog to be seen by the Doctor. They suggested I leave the dog with them so they could fit me in. My dog’s problem was attended to and they did a very professional job.

Great hospital and veterinarians. Very caring and took good care of all the issues we’ve had with our small dog. Our dog had surgery for his teeth and abscess twice with awesome results. Also boarded him in the medical boarding with no issues.

I have been boarding my dogs here for a couple of years now when I need to leave town. Each time, I feel very grateful for the staff. They are kind and helpful and really seem to enjoy their jobs. And they seem to love dogs! It makes me feel good about leaving them . And most importantly my dogs seem very comfortable there.

Blackbob Pet Hospital let my dog die.I don't think I once had a good moment with Blackbob Pet Hospital. In fact, it should not be called a "Hospital" at all because they could care less. Let's start with my issues. We took my dog (and if BPH is reading this, you'll know him) Einstein there on Friday June 7th. Dr. Weingartner checked him out and said blood work was fine, his pee was fine and for some reason, his sperm count was high... yet his X-rays showed that his lungs were "fuzzy". She promised to call us back before the end of the day to see if a specialist could look at the x-rays. Well, come 4:50PM when we called the place and DROVE BY with them NOT being busy, did we ever get an answer. All we got was that everything was okay with Einstein.Flashforward to 5:30 when we're driving to Blue Pearl to take Einstein in because we notice he is struggling for breath. At BP I didn't even get a proper chance to say goodbye to him, just a "see you soon" because I didn't think anything was going to happen. Einstein passed away the next morning and the last images I'll have of him are the staff of BP beating on his chest to revive him. In my opinion, Dr. Weingartner sent Einstein to die. She could have done something for him. We had a happy dog before an hour of testing under her care, and once we brought him home, he was out of it. That wasn't my dog. He didn't wag his tail when he saw my mother, he seemed like he didn't even know where he was. What did you staff do to my dog? The entire staff of BPH could have found something wrong with him over the past year. We'll never know what the hell happened but I'm taking you all into full responsibility. I don't need sympathy, I just want you all to know what you did and for you to feel some sort of guilt over the pain you all have caused a family. This was the worst pet clinic I would have ever taken a dog. From vet tech Dawn being afraid of him for an incident she could have prevented to Dr. Hughs getting mad when he was a puppy that we never trained him...it's you all who need training. Einstein was the best dog in the world, and I can never get him back and the pain still lingers. It's taken me almost a month to write this and finally I can get this all off my chest.

The clinic is qualified to deworm the animals, brush them and upsell their products/services but they are not qualified or capable to treat animals with health issues. If the medicine they prescribe does not work, the veterinarian will give your animal a higher dose of the same medicine that does not work. The result is more issues and complications. I wish I never trusted this clinic.

I don't have enough words to express my appreciation for Blackbob Pet Hospital. We started bringing our black lab here when he was a puppy and when he was diagnosed with lymphoma at 7 yrs old, the compassion and support we received was like nothing I've ever experienced. From Dr Casey Meyer and Dr Doyle to the AMAZING vet techs, Stephanie, Ann and KC and all the other wonderful staff. We felt surrounded by people who loved our boy as much as we did. Because of them, we were able to get more time with our crazy BoBo and memories that we will cherish the rest of our lives. Your pet is in great hands with this clinic and we were so fortunate to have had them in our corner.

I've seen several different Vets over the years and have liked them all. They treat my dogs and me like family. The vet techs are awesome with my dogs, showering them with kisses and don't seem to mind if they get jumped on by my rowdy girl. We've had several hard decisions to deal with over the years and Blackbob Vet has helped us through each one.

Our dog is disabled in her hind legs. It makes it hard for her to get around, especially on hard floors like at a vet's office and due to her size I'm unable to carry her around. She also likes to be very vocal about her excitement (she loves the vet's office) so she can be quite the handful. The staff was all very kind to us. They also got us right into a room so my dog wasn't having to slip around the waiting room. The staff and Dr. Doyle were all very attentive and kind. When it came time to check out, they allowed us to stay in the exam room so we didn't have to move my dog around a lot. The staff and Dr. Doyle also took the time to talk to my young son whom I had to bring to the appointment. He was just as excited and vocal as my dog. All these little extra shows of kindness really helped make a stressful (at least for me) situation a lot easier. I am forever grateful for how kind the staff is to my dog and my family.

We've been taking our pets to them for a little over 8 years now! We have even moved about 30 minutes away and still continue to take them there even though there is a veterinarian with good reviews less than 5 minutes from our new home. They are always amazing. We trust them completely with our loved ones. We've had great experiences with the front desk, the vet techs and the doctors. I know our pets are in good hands if I need to leave any of them there while at work or overnight.

We love them here! They truly care for our pets. They always take our calls. If we have to wait it isn’t long. My dogs have been boarded here and the staff truly loves them. I’ve called to check on our Pets and no problem reading off the notes me. We love the groomer, worth the wait! We had a dog pass away and they were right there to support me and my family. They truly are the best! We wouldn’t go anywhere else.

My puppy, Lucy, got into the cats’ litter (dogs can be so gross sometimes!) and it made her very sick. Blackbob Pet Hospital was able to get her in within two hours. They were all so understanding and great with her and us, I was worried I would be lectured for not watching my puppy more closely. They gave her treatment and she is going to be just fine. In fact, we just got home and she’s already back to trying to gnaw my arm off. 😉Reasonable pricing too. We will be bringing her back here for her well visits and puppy vaccines, and our cats as well. Thank you to Dr. Anderson and his team for taking such good care of our Lucy girl! ❤️

I am very glad I chose this vet. Moving from Texas we had a vet that cared about their patients and didn't aim to financially take advantage of the customers. We found the same here in Kansas. I called around to several vets before deciding on this one. All of the staff was great. Especially Lexi!! She took time to answer all of our questions and was very patient. We never once felt rushed or like they were trying to take advantage of us. I am very happy we chose them! They treated our furbaby with love.

Blackbob Pet Hospital really cares about their furry patients. I especially like the fact that they have a separate Cat clinic & entrance for kitties that might not like the furry flurry of dogs. They've helped me with my older cat that has health issues with empathy and genuine TLC. All the staff is very kind & welcoming - you can see they all care!
