We visited in early July for the day. Very green and beautiful. Stopped at the visitor’s center on the way in and the woman working the front desk was very kind and friendly, answering questions and making us feel welcome. I even purchased some t-shirts and stickers.Got to see Prairie dogs in Prairie Dog Town, so cute! Then drove around the lake. Campsites look so nice. Lots of large trees for shade. Seems like a great way to spend the weekend.Playground: Nice playground area nearby camping sites

Pleasantly surprised at how much I like this State Park! We didn't have reservations anywhere so just picked a place that had water/electric available. Prairie Dog is beautiful. This is mid September during the week. It was so quiet. Not many people were there. The sites in Shady Rest Campground are spacious. The staff worked with us to change sites. There are different campgrounds, each with it's own special niche. Ours was shady, on gravel, plenty of grass and room for dogs, backed up to woods and a patch of prairie grass. There are full sun sites up on a ridge, concrete pads, overlooking Keith Seibelius Reservoir...very nice but we wanted shade, so we moved...but it is very nice up there in Cedar Ridge Campground.. The prairie landscape along the way is just beautiful! In the State Park is a prairie dog colony where you can park on the side of the road and watch these cute little critters pop in and out of their holes. 6 wild turkeys walked through our campground daily. Private showers .....your usual campground type. You do have to pay an extra $5 a day to be in the park besides the camping fee.Don't miss this gem! I will post more pics once they are sorted out.

Clean and well-kept Kansas camping experience. The lake is up to full level and the grasses were brilliant green from recent rains. RV sites are large and dome include electricity and water. Yes, you have to buy a $5 daily pass - but this place is a bargain! Plenty of birds to hear and while the wind rustles the leaves this is a place to relax and reflect about all that is good with camping!

We stayed in one of the 2 cabins. Contained everything but towels and bedding otherwise stocked like a home. Beautiful lake with plenty of fish. Awesome place

Prairie Dog State Park is a beautiful, expansive park located near Sebelius Reservoir. With 11 campground areas offering everything from primitive tent accommodations to RV full hookup, you will find your perfect camping experience right here. We stayed on a pull thru water/50 amp electric site in the Prairie Dog Campground. It was spacious, long enough for our truck and travel trailer, and had a picnic table, a fire ring, and a stationary grill. The park offers a beach at the reservoir with a swimming area, a boat ramp, a fishing dock, a fish cleaning station, multiple picnic shelters, a lakeside pavilion with a community firepit, a basketball court, a volleyball area, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf baskets, an archery range, playgrounds for the kids, cabins, and shower houses/bathrooms as well as vault commodes. There is an on-site Adobe Home that was constructed in the late 1800s - very interesting to view. And, of course, Prairie Dog Town is the section of the park to view the prairie dogs and burrowing owls in their natural habitat.

Very nice, clean, and reasonably priced. It's beautiful and has abundant wildlife. I just wish they had more easily accessible bathrooms. Was quite the trek from where we were fishing. BYOS. The bathrooms have no soap which is much needed after worm guts/stink bait on your hands.

Beautiful state park with a reasonable camping fee. We did have to purchase a day pass as well, but it's only $25 for the year. 30 amp RV hookups with water, but no sewer. AT&T service is spotty, but Verizon is working well with the cell booster. Bathrooms are small, but clean. Downtown Norton is pretty close by and we were able to stock up on groceries at the local store. Overall, this is a great park! Seeing the prairie dogs was pretty neat too!

Nice quiet night, other than some storms. Lots of views of the lake. Lots of options for camping. Will cone back for again.Restrooms: Out house style bathroom with no electricity. Only used the one, but saw a few more with lights on as we drove around.Dog-friendliness: I saw a few people with dogs.Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas with views of the lake.

When you enter the park, you have to stop and buy a $5 park pass which is in addition to the camping fee. We were there for 2 weekday nights in July 2023. The park was immaculately clean. It was also quite quiet. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. This is a beautiful, well maintained campground on the north side of reservoir. The campground has easy access to the lake. This state park is large. We had a "prime" site, which I guess is because it's a pull-through. Our site, and the others in the Prairie Dog campground section, have water and electricity. Our site was large and well shaded. We stayed in the Prairie Dog campground, but there are other campgrounds in the park with more secluded sites near the lake. It does appear that locals reserve slots for a maximum period of time & just leave their trailers during the week. Not much hiking here. There's only one trail in the park (an open, exposed 1.5 mile nature trail). We would definitely come back. We camped at Prairie Dog State Park in a Travel Trailer

Beautiful state park. If you have kids, or if you don't, make sure to stop by the prairie dog town. It's fun to watch them run around. There is some great fishing at the lake as well.

Here in late December hunting pheasant. The state park is empty for the most part, we appear to be the only ones here. The only constant sound is the din of thousands and thousands of migrating snow geese . Only $19 a night for electricity, and water/dump located centrally. LTE here allows streaming video with both Verizon and AT$T. Looking forward to 3-8 inches of snow tonight!UPDATE: Haven’t seen a snowplow making for difficult travel, but boy is it pretty here after a snowfall. The snow geese are very active, (seen in the water), and lots of mule deer are moving as well.

Fun park. We had to go in town to receive our park pass for $10. Then we paid to camp on top of that but beautiful place!

This state park just added a new campground high up from their others. Even though it wasn't shady, I chose this new campground for my RV motorhome stay instead of the lower area because this new one was almost empty with just one other RV'r, plenty of space between sites, and a nice view...and the sites were brand new (Aug 2018), with full hookups for RVs. I will still give 5 stars because the bugs weren't the park's fault. I tried to enjoy riding my bicycle but instantly was covered with mosquitoes and biting flies that hurt and itched for weeks. I don't know what months they're that bad, but August was not good. The man at the check-in counter was extremely helpful and friendly. Nice place.

This is by far one of the nicest state parks i have ever been to! The beauty of the landscape was breathtaking. The little prarie dogs just melted your heart. The school house tour is superb and the adobe house tour is not to be missed!! The campgrounds are wonderful! And the tent sites i will admit, i was jealous of! I was in a camper and i wished i had brought my tent as their sites have more room between the others it was a dream come true! The restrooms were well kept and very nice as well. This will be a yearly trip now!

Awesome park! I went middle of April and was the only tent camper, but it was a really cool property and setup well even without any staff working yet.

We come to this park just about every year. We like coming here to camp and enjoy the lake. One big issue we had was the bathrooms and shower houses were not clean. In the past these were cleaned daily. It looked like no one had cleaned in many days. Plus they were not cleaned during out 3 day stay. To add only two of the showers were operable making the line to shower longer as well. Despite the bathroom issue the camps were well kept. I love the new disc golf course!!

Nice State park, well maintained, and lots of cute prairie dogs! Stayed at the campground and was a great place to stop for the night.Restrooms: Pretty standard for a state park. Clean, but not on the same level as private RV parks.

Earlier this summer I went camping and was confronted by couple people that ruined my camping. I told the office about what happened and they instantly took care of it. Now I'm back and enjoying camping. The park manager and staff are awesome for keeping this a friendly park and not allowing bad people ruin people's relaxing camping enjoyment. Thanks so very much for keeping this a enjoyable and relaxing park too come to.

Fun park. Just be clear what amenities you get so you don't end up surprised. Beautiful lake, nice basketball courts, disc golf will be cool when completed, beach is a little muddy but fun. The Prairie dogs greet you as you enter. Cottonwood cabin was nice.

This a hidden treasure. We stayed only one night as we were passing through from I 80 to I 70. We have a class c, huge paved sites, full hook ups, shady areas, reservoir views. You must pay $5 for a state park pass, then I think it was $24 per night. We got there after hours, so we used a very easy check-in process. Nice big dump station on the way out. We would definitely stay again, if we are in that neighborhood 😉.

We love coming here to camp! The sites are really nice and the people are friendly. Large park area for the kids to play at too! My only complaint this last trip is the bathrooms/shower. Normally this place is immaculate but not this time! We even called and complained to let them know and this is now day 2 of the showers looking like an outhouse.

Basketball court even has free balls to use.Restrooms: Clean and well keptPicnic area: Lots of picnic areas with great views of the lake
