We just spent our 14th wedding anniversary there at Hedricks. We stayed in the Ostrich room with hot tub. The staff are so kind, generous, and really care about the animals. The 2 tours we were in were super informational, and ALOT of fun! 5 star resort it is not, but the rooms are great, the Breakfast is good, and the guest service you receive is out of this world. This was our second time staying there, and loved it just as much as the first time. We will be back for many anniversaries to come. Thank you all for your commitment to the animals and your guests.

We just went for a day trip. We used the Sunflower app. They have set toour times on Saturday and Sunday. We made it for the 11:00 tour. I love that most of the animals are able to be petted. The lady that gave the tour made sure that everyone understood how to handle the animals. You could tell she loves her job and the animals. She would share information that showed each animal's personality.

This was a great stay! The B and B is surrounded by pens ad pastures of well loved and well tended exotic animals, some of them rare animals and some farm animals. I rode a camel, got kissed by a camel, fed animals treats and pet more of them than I can remember. Learned a lot on our tours and had fun. The only thing I want you to be aware of is that the B and B rooms are only accessible by stairs. It was a very memorable visit and I highly recommend it.(go to their website for photos. They're much better than mine.)

We did a farm tour with our 18 month old and it was so cool! The guide was so kind and we could tell that she had a special bond with all of the animals. The animals were all very friendly and well taken care of. Like literally every animal we met was the sweetest thing, from the adorable cat who greeted us to the giraffe and everything in between. It was so special to meet beautiful animals like zebras and porcupines and of course the kangaroos. We can't wait to come back and stay the night sometime. It's a wonderful place and the people there put a lot of love into caring for those sweet animals.

Everybody is friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to accommodate you. The food is delicious and much to choose from. Each room is uniquely decorated. The animals are absolutely amazing. Loved Eclipse and the goats. I told all my family they had to see this place. Our family had a great time. THE FAMILY AND STAFF WERE SO INCREDIBLY NICE. Every animal lover should stop and visit.

We stayed at Hedrick's Exotic Hotel for my boyfriends birthday. We are both animal lovers and so I decided this would be an interesting experience for us both. We stayed in "The Ostrich Room" and absolutely loved it. I picked this room because of the jacuzzi. I really liked all the little touches throughout the place. There were so many things to look at throughout the building and the variety of different animals to view and interact with was awesome. I especially liked the viewing room for the kangaroos. It was not just interesting to watch them but educational for me. I learned a lot of things I didn't know about the animals that were on this farm. They gave a small tour in the evening and then an extensive tour in the morning. The guides for both tours were amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids or to people that would like to have a unique experience. A big plus for any animal lover.

Positives:Our morning tour was amazing, as well as the pony and camel rides and the delicious breakfast. The animals seem to be well loved and cared for. Our child really enjoyed the interactive stay and all of the offerings of the farm/hotel.Negatives:Our evening tour guide knew very little about the animals and couldn't answer some basic questions that one would expect a guide to know. She said she'd only been working there a couple of months, but even that being the case I felt the management should provide her some fact sheets to use on her guides until she learns more about them. Our queen sized bed was very very uncomfortable and extremely noisy. If one person slightly shifted sleeping position, it woke our whole suite up. And because it was uncomfortable, there was a lot of shifting and barely any sleep... for anyone.I also would suggest some updates be done on the aesthetics and interior of the hotel. Keep the rustic look, but modernize and spruce it up a bit.Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!

Excellent animal tour! Haley, the daughter of the owners, gave us a tour and it was an experience we’ll remember with our three young kids for a loooooong time! With her Midwestern hospitality, she took us around the sprawling complex, told us all about the animals, allowed us to feed them, and let us stay for as long as we liked! It was well worth the hour or so we spent and if we didn’t need to head back to KC any sooner, we could’ve stayed longer! She was excellent with kids! We would definitely go again with family or friends!

It's a great time for all ages, better than a zoo because you get to interact with all the animals, really neat themed rooms that are spacious and comfortable. The tour guides were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderful hot breakfast with choice selection of various items. Kids enjoyed the camel ride. The location is very appropriate for the venue, convenient to highway and interstate, easy to find. Little pricey but overall a decent value for the experience. Have lots of land for the animals and could tell they were all very well taken care of and friendly. Benjamin the giraffe and Duchess the kangaroo were two of our favorites, very loveable and friendly.

Wow! We had a wonderful time. We took 3 teens and a grown child's family with a three year old and baby. The animals were so well loved and taken care of and friendly to all of us. Many of them were following us to be petted and given treats. Of course it is a working farm so yes, there is poop and an animal smell, I wouldn't expect less. The food was wonderful and the waffles were amazing. Great place, great stay, and great family get away.

We went to the farm at Hedrick's Bed and Breakfast in Sterling, Wednesday, on a tour around it, and it was so fun! I got to see some ostriches, which kinda freaked me out. And I got to see the kangaroos, which were so soft, and I got to feed them too, which was amazing! Then we got to see porcupines, which were so cute! The big male Dromedary Camel was kind of interesting to watch. That big airsac that he had was kind of gross, though. The giraffe was cool, and he drooled on a couple friends of mine, which was kind of funny. The zebra was pretty cool too. Then we went to see llamas and alpacas, which were interesting. Then to the miniature ponies, which were so adorable! Then the female camels, which were quite a bit better than the male camel. 😁 And then the deer. The one that rammed into the fence was pretty funny. Then we went to see the emus, which were also pretty funny. Then we got ready to leave, and the little baby goat tried to follow us out of the driveway as we were leaving the farm. It was really heartbreaking, cause we could here him bleating /crying, and that made the whole van start crying, cause it was really heartbreaking for us to leave him just bleating/crying as we left the farm. It was so sad. 😪 We all wanted to take him home with us, but we knew that would be stealing, so we didn't. Other than that, I think the kangaroos were my favorite animal there, because I've never gotten to touch a kangaroo in my life before, and it was so, so, very soft. I loved the farm! I give it 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Fun, Fun, Fun!Rooms are very clean and beautiful! It is a working farm so the common areas won't be a clean as the rooms. The breakfast is definately better than most hotels but not really what I would call B&B quality. You don't come for the rooms or food though. You come to watch these critters and learn about them from very knowledgable staff. Then you come back again and again...The only down side is that is a little pricey. That hasn't stopped us yet though!

Animal lovers, this is your place!!! My family and I stayed one night. This includes an evening tour, breakfast, a morning tour and camel rides (or pony rides for kids under 60 lbs). It was very hot when we arrived, and the animals were feeling the heat as much as we were. When a cold front came in that evening, all the animals perked up and became much more active, so try to visit in spring or fall when it's not so hot. The tours included feeding treats to/petting giraffes and kangaroos! In the morning, we bottle feed baby camels. As guests, we we're allowed to visit and pet the animals as much as we wanted, without entering the pens. Many of the animals are quite tame and friendly, and love attention, they come right up to the fence to be petted. My daughter and I spent hours petting Ben the super friendly giraffe, zebras, donkeys, camels, horses, goats, sheep, and other exotic animals. Ostriches and emus are fun to watch, but they bite. Bison and elk were also fun to watch but had no interest in being petted. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, especially our morning tour guide, Cole. Breakfast was delicious! It included fresh made french toast that was amazing! The farm also does tours by appointment, which would be fun, but I highly recommend staying at the B&B for anyone who really loves to interact with animals.

By far the best little zoo in Kansas. My whole family loved every minute and animal. The baby camels and the giraffe stole my heart. They keep it super clean and the animals are very happy. Great place for school trips!

We had made reservations at a hotel in Hutchinson Ks. When we arrived at 12:30 in the morning the hotel that we had booked and paid for didn’t have the correct rooms for our family. All other hotels in a 40 mile radius were booked because of baseball tournaments. My mother n law found the Hedricks Bed and Breakfast. We called them at 2:30am and told them our story, they said come ahead I will unlock the rooms and have them ready. When we arrived we went in and our family group of 11 all had nice beds to sleep in! When we woke up the next morning we were in awe and amazed with what we saw. There was a giraffe out our bedroom window and biscuits and gravy in dining room!! My kids had such an amazing time with all the animals. After our day of exploring in Hutchinson it was so nice to come back to our room and sit on the balcony and watch all the animals! There was a nice playground for the kids to play in and a game room full of board games. There was no tv it was all about family and that was my favorite part! We will be back for sure! Thanks again for helping a stranded family have such an amazing time!

This is a great place to stay for a night! Check in and checkout are a breeze. The rooms are very spacious, and being on the bottom floor, we couldn't hear any noise from the floor above us. Our stay included 2 tours, pony and camel rides, an evening snack, and breakfast. We spent time feeding giraffes and kangaroos, as well as petting goats, zebras, donkey's, llamas, camels, and more. The guides are knowledgable and encourage interaction with the animals. All of the animals are very tame, they do warn against the pecking ostriches and nippy zebras, though. We had 14 people in our group, ranging from 4 months old to 54 and there was something for everyone to do. The grounds have a playground and sand box to keep busy children occupied while waiting their turn for a pony or camel ride. We plan on visiting again, and I strongly recommend this place!

Best,,absolutely the best , venue for a child's birthday party in all of Kansas. Not to shabby for an adult either. I could rave about it all, but the staff take things personal, and will go above and beyond to make a great experience for your family. Beautiful place. None better.

My hubby took me for my 50th birthday. We stayed in the ostrich room. The hot tub was AMAZING. The room was comfortable, inviting and perfect for our couple's get away.It was decorated and accented perfectly for the theme. It wasn't tacky or over done.

Great rustic place (it's a real working farm). Great interaction with animals including exotics like giraffes, camels, kangaroos, among others. Breakfast was good and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Third time we have stayed here during the fair and plan on doing it again next year.

What a neat place! I don't know of anywhere else that I can see Camels and Zebra, Llama, Emu, Goats, Ducks, and Geese, Donkeys even Giraffes you name it. All kinds of exotic animals. Beautiful rooms Interiors are modeled after the animals. A stay in one of their Suites includes a tour of the grounds. And wow where can you say this... It also includes camel rides. This place is super easy to find head south just off of 96 Highway right before you get to the little town of Nickerson Kansas.Love It.
