I didn't stay at the hotel, but I took a tour of the tunnels below, and after the tours, they let me peek into the rooms upstairs. The tour was in two different sections with one guide on the first half of the tour from the antique shop across the street. In the second half, a young lady took us on tour from the wolf hotel side. She is also a paranormal investigator and does tours and stories of the paranormal experience within the tunnels. Well worth the time which took 2 hours and lots of interesting stories and things to see.

The hotel and attached speakeasy, The Underground, are really neat. We attended the comedy show the night before and it was a packed house! We would come again for that and other special events the hotel has. Keep up the great hospitality!Food & drinks: You have to do The Underground speakeasy while you are here.

We had a wonderful overnight stop at the Historic Wolf Hotel and really enjoyed having an entire suite to ourselves - the Elvis theme was a real plus! We had fun visiting the underground speakeasy in the evening and want to thank Chris again for his hospitality (and for recommending the Seelye mansion at our next stop in Abilene - we loved it). Thanks for a very warm welcome to Kansas; we hope we can come back to stay with you guys again sometime soon!

I'll never book here again. I made this reservation 2 days before my arrival, which was already past their 7-day cancellation window. I was really looking forward to the expected 60 degree weather, and staying in the beautiful hotel. The morning of my arrival, before I drove 8 hours to get there, the weather report changed drastically and a massive storm with tornadoes were expected, which would have put me in danger for my drive home. I contacted the property immediately, and they were not willing to give me a refund, even though I checked their availability and they were not fully booked. Their cancellation policy states that they request that if you are feeling ill, stay home, and they "will work with you," but after speaking with their staff member, Chris, they would not make an exception for an expected natural disaster out of my control. He began giving me a very rude attitude, and I have all the communication documented because it was all via text message. Chris finally offered me a gift certificate, but I explained that this weekend was the only time this year I would be able to do this trip, and I'm due to give birth in September, so I will certainly not be able to do an 8 hour road trip any time soon after that. I asked him many times for a refund due to a natural disaster and explained that if he is not willing to provide that, I will put a claim in with my credit card company and they will be in contact with him. He did not respond, so I filed claims with my credit card company which guarantees reimbursement for travel cancelled due to natural disasters. It's a good thing I cancelled my trip, because there were 6 tornadoes the day I was supposed to be driving back. If anyone is interested in seeing this communication, I'm happy to add photos of the text screenshots to this review.

This place is amazing! The rooms were clean and so comfy and cozy. In fact, the entire place is comfy and cozy. The staff was beyond amazing (I cannot stress this enough) and accommodating. It was really cool that we had the place to ourselves. The kitchen area is so cool and it felt like you were home. I would definitely stay here again!

This place is so cool! My husband and I wanted a quick get away and this was great! Toured the tunnels and It was all wonderful! This place is full of history. The room at the manor was nice too. The house is beautiful and full of gorgeous antiques too. Had a quiet time on the porch and was quiet and peaceful. Just what I needed. Highly recommend you check it out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the historic wolf hotel. It is beautifully renovated, yet perfectly preserved. Beth was kind enough to take us through the underground tunnels, which are a must-see. The underground saloon is too cool and the parlor and kitchen make for a welcome place to relax. We stopped here on a cross-country road trip, but will certainly return if we are in Kansas again. Book a room here!

The underground tour was interesting & informative. It was a great way to start to our stay at the hotel. The people/staff were all very friendly and the hotel is rich in history. We stayed in the Elvis Suite (A+)so we had our own sitting room area, little dining area, kitchenette & private bathroom. The rest of the rooms share one nice bathroom. Everyone staying also shares a lovely big family room and a serve-yourself breakfast room with lots of seating for eating/visiting/card games etc. We had a great PARANORMAL experience- successful dowsing rods/ Estes Method & a 45+ minute yes/no flashlight session. All very positive- no negativity.

My husband and I are riding our bicycles across the United States and we found this wonderful historic hotel with lots of places to relax, wonderful kitchen area where you can cook your own food, lots of history within the hotel. The room was big, clean and comfortable especially the bed. We can't say enough good things about this place!

We stayed in "The Wedding Room" for my birthday. It was such a relaxing place to get away for the night. I absolutely loved the decor in all of the rooms and all the little personal touches. The bed was also extremely comfortable and the place was very clean. You can tell that a lot of thought and care goes into this place. I would highly recommend The Historic Wolf Hotel to anyone either needing a place to stay or wanting an unique experience. I know the place is known for some of it's "ghosts" activities. I unfortunately did not get to experience this during our stay. Maybe they all went out for their own little vacation. 😊

Chris, the owner, is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. This is an old hotel that has been remodeled and in my opinion, the decor is beautiful. It’s located right next to highway 56/96 so it’s really easy to get to. With the highway right next to the building and a railroad track about half a block away it is a little noisy but that’s the only downside. I had a wonderful experience here and would love to stay again. Five stars!

Whether you’re a history buff, a bar goer, or an antique fanatic, this is the spot for you! While your stay will be more than comfortable, you never forget that you’re in a piece of living history. The fabulous hospitality, on-site bar, and easy to access kitchen make this the perfect weekend get away. The underground tour is an absolute must- full of history, fun facts, and interesting stories- it really brings this place to life. Thank you again to all the staff for the wonderful hospitality, and keeping this place alive!

Historic old hotel, well restored to original woodwork and ambience. A good selection of self serve breakfast items. Full kitchen if you want to prepare a snack or meal. The rooms are at the top of some pretty steep interior stairs, but there is a lift available. We stayed 2 nights and recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

It is worth your while to drive out of your way to stay at this magnificent historic hotel. Chris, owner/operator has made sure that everything regarding your stay will be an unforgettable experience. Super comfortable beds await in beautifully decorated rooms. The common space parlor can't be resisted, as well as the kitchen. The speakeasy bar is the cherry on the top of this " must do" experience !

One of the best stays I’ve had. No breakfast every morning was a downer but overall the rooms are clean with comfy beds. The place itself is amazing it’s like sleeping in an antique museum. The owner Chris bends over backwards to make you happy. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Was finally able to stop by the Underground. Amazing! Loved the experience! Small town charm all the way. Also attended a birthday party in the room upstairs. Chris has done a fantastic job of making the entire building worth every moment you spend there. Definitely recommend to anyone!

I booked this hotel for my parents on their way south. They loved it! The owner bent over backward to make them comfortable, even getting food sent to their room long after the sidewalks had been rolled up for the night. They spent a lot of time taking pictures and touring around to see all the antiques and enjoy the history of the place. Definitely recommend very highly.

The owner and staff were very nice. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast room had everything you would need to make a bite to eat. The little bar in the basement was awesome. Great speak-easy theme. All together it was a great place to unwind and relax.

We visited with a group tour. We toured the Hotel, as well as the Underground Tunnels. It was EXCELLENT! Chris was phenomenal in his story-telling and his passion shines through. I encourage all to make this trip, no matter how far. It’s definitely worth it!!!

I wasn’t going to write a bad review, but since the booking agent asked me to write one, I did and told my experience while visiting this hotel. Once the review hit the web, I received a text from the hotel owner calling me a Hag and that I should be ashamed. I’m not trying to put this man in jeopardy but I did write the truth about our room there. I feel like I’m being harassed by the hotel owner just because I wrote the review. I thought I lived in America where freedom of speech is allowed!

If I could give a ten star rating, I would. However, if you are looking for an extraordinary hotel within the Great Bend area, I highly recommend this quaint little inn in Ellinwood. Just 10 minutes east of Great Bend, this place has 5 rooms with each having individual character. (They also have another building with 8 additional rooms.) Our room, (the wedding room), took on an early twentieth century feel with modern accessories including a four poster bed, flat screen tv, and a private bath. At the end of the hall there is a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table and simple food stuffs available. A common room with overstuffed loveseats and another TV and wi-fi is across from the kitchen. A common bath with a walk-in shower, also sits at the end of the hall. It was so much more of an amazing experience than staying at a run-of-the-mill hotel with rooms that have no character. The owner, Chris, took amazing care of us and made sure that we had everything we needed. He even made sure we slept well the next morning.

Neat old building & lovely rooms - I definitely recommend the themed suite with kitchenette, dining, and living room! Community breakfast area is stocked and the parlor provides good visiting space if you don't get the suite. Chris is an excellent host and the period dinner is nice, too. Don't forget to tour the underground city!

The tour of the hotel was awesome. Seeing the underground tunnels and hearing the history was very interesting. The hotel had nice rooms and a great parlor and kitchen area. Spent some time in the saloon under the hotel which was fun to relive a part of history.

This historic hotel was a perfect stay for our client, touring comedian Andy Hartley, after a nearby performance! The room was a great "Victorian bedroom" and the staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the property and surrounding area. Thank you for taking such great care of our client, and we look forward to staying with you again!

Enjoyed the suite and in-room furnished snacks. The bar in the basement was unique. I did enjoy it too. I am used to a quiet home and found the truck traffic very disturbing. Some type of soundproofing is needed on the whole side next to highway 56.
