This place is amazing. They took in my adult and baby guinea pigs. After meeting the owner, I KNOW they are in great hands. They have soooo many animals here. They do accept donations if you have any items to give them. Great selection on pet care items! All employees in the store were super friendly. I recommend this place over some of the more known companies. Thankyou guys for helping me!

I had no idea Leavenworth had such a great pet store! My son got his first bearded dragon from here today. First we called about a week before coming in and the owner told me everything I needed to know about bearded dragons and how to take care of them. He even saved me quite a bit of money by letting me know that I didn’t actually NEED all the things I thought I would need. When I went to the store, the woman who helped us was so patient with all of our questions and my children who kept wanting to hold every critter in the shop. She had other customers, the phone was ringing, and of course my demanding, excited kids, yet she never lost her patience! I was impressed. She was knowledgeable as well and helped guide us to the things we would actually need. You could tell she has a good relationship with the animals and actually cares about them.During these crazy times, it was refreshing to see such care, patience, knowledge, and genuine interest in helping their customers. I am definitely coming here again for all our pet care needs and if they don’t have it, they will order it. Yes, I know I could probably get it cheaper on Amazon but the service here is worth the possible little bit extra! Plus I know they won’t steer me wrong.They also let us hold baby hamsters, even though it was closing time and she still had all the animals to feed and clean up to do!

Ok first of all we went to the Fish Shack in Leavenworth Kansas , we took the lizard to An exotic animal doctor! They said that the lizard should’ve never been put in a 10 gallon tank you got us it can escape the heat or that heating pad you said to get. we did everything you said. because there’s no way for it to escape the heat the Poor babies cooked them selfs everything you guys said to do with this baby lizard both of them killed them. and now my baby is heart broken won’t stop crying this was her birthday present and all she wanted . We should’ve never listened especially to that old man that owns the store he is rude and heartless. even you said he was telling wrong.Im not rich but I spent 240$ for everything for her bearded dragon and she has nothing and is heartbroken. I will never recommend somebody coming here again. Unless they wanna lose their money and end up with no pet thank you so much for breaking a 15 year old heart and not to mention they both died within 24 to 48 hours Because your knowledge on how to take care of them and tell us how

Occasionally they have fancy shrimp, which I love and have bought a few yellows and reds. They are thriving. The owner is full of information and I’m sure he’ll be glad to help. I’ve bought some nice driftwood too. Do your research before buying any pet. Let your tank cycle, building up helpful bacteria before risking just dumping one in with starter juice. If they have what I need, I’m spending money here before driving to KC. Also with shrimp care, it’s absolutely imperative to drip accumulate when doing a water change.

I used to really love this store,it's tiny but had a unquie selection of fish I loved! And despite the hours changing to 4-7pm I still made a trip there just to see what they had in.Now with the recent change in who manages the fish section.(since there is a reptile/snake area and a fish area.) I am no longer big on going there,mainy because they have little to no fish leftI am sure once they order some more critters and actually fill up their shack and have a selection other then empty tanks to see it will be of more interest to me.I have see cool reptiles there but can't elaborate much I don't go up into the snake area often.!!

Absolutely love going here. They are extremely knowledgeable and love to help. We have gotten many fish from Bob and have not had a single issue with any of them. They can order you basically anything you're looking for and for a great price. By far, it's one of the best pet stores I've been to.

Small place, definitely small town feel. They have made a lot of improvements to the cleanliness and set up of the store. The owner is always there are willing to help with any questions and lend aid where he can. He takes pride in his work and animals. Also they get new fish in weekly.

One of the best local pet stores I've visited! I'm very impressed.The cages were very well maintained. They weren't overcrowded or dirty, and the animals were very active. I didn't see any signs of ill health in any of the critters. The animals were comfortable with humans, there was a staff owned rabbit which you could pet and the rats for sale were curious about passerby, and would try to get their attention.They had a very wide selection of both pets and products, catering especially to exotic animals. There weren't a lot of doc and cat supplies, though.

The place is disgusting. Cages and containers were pretty dirt, dust and spider webs every where, couldn't see half the animals cause the glass hadn't been wiped in who knows how long. Oh and my animal died after two days of being home, can't forget to mention that. And the owner acts like he doesn't give two sh*ts about it his job, when you think after so many years of doing this he'd know what he is doing. Guess Ill drive to the city for my pet needs now.

Wow this place is nasty. Smells like natural gas mixed with dead animal. The cages are absolutely disgusting and there was a very small selection. The beta tanks were the worst part...covered in some weird, thick stuff running down the sides. The older guy was super nice but man...that place needs a serious cleaning and some organizing. Will never go again.

Went in to buy tank starter, since I’ve done my research and I don’t want to kill any fish. Anybody who has done research on the nitrate/ammonia cycle in a fish tank knows you need bacteria to get a healthy tank that won’t kill fish right when you put them in.Needless to say, he missed out on a sale today.He told me I didn’t need anything except to setup my tank for 48 hours, which is false information. He insisted he knew what he was talking about because he has a doctorate in zoology.I won’t be back. He’s been rude in the past when I had a question about snakes, and gave me false information then too.

I have been to this shop about 4 different times in the last 10 years and each time the older man there is unfriendly and grouchy and for heaven's sake don't bring any children in there. He grouchily yelled at my child just because they literally touched an aquarium while showing each other a fish!!! Seriously????? Absolutely no fun if you can enjoy yourself while looking for a pet.

Amazing pet store! Jim and Bob are great with customer satisfaction and if I have a problem with one of my pets, they always have an answer that works. Reasonably priced. recently they have added many new exhibits that are extremely awesome! I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I bought a Female Teddy bear hamster a year and a half ago, she turned out to be a awesome pet, had allot of personality, Love her allot. But recently I stepped in there to buy another Male hamster, they had none in stock, so the owner told me no problem he will order me one, it will be in in 7 days, he also told me he will call me when the hamster comes in, took down my information and I walked out. 10 days later no call from them, I had to call them up, it seems they forgot about my hamster...he told me that Male hamster are rare, and hard to get, told me he'll place the order again, now have to wait longer to get a hamster...

Been going here since they opened their original location in downtown LV. What the staff lack in personality they make up for in dependability and knowledge. I've purchased a haitian brown tarantula, a water dragon, angle fish, alge eaters, corys, chilchids, crickets, and frozen mice from here. All my animals were healthy and went on to thrive. At one point in time I had to re-home my large python because I was moving, the older gentlemen in the store told me how good she looked and that they would be happy to care for her. The store itself is a little rough around the edges but all enclosures are adequately taken care of. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

I love Bob, he is full of information. Everyone else that works there isn't bad. You have to catch the older gentleman in a good mood, the last few times I've been in he's been really short.

Well for me just a little small place that I didn't know exist they carry a little bit of stuff. Not too bad I'm a little shop for a little small town it's just a shame that Leavenworth didn't have a bigger store that had more of a selection.

My fresh water fish have a COMMON infection called columnaris. I need 2 antibiotics to treat them. I called to see if this store happened to carry them. I never dreamed that someone so rude answer. He proceeded to tell me he has a doctorates in zoology. Then told me about ick. I told him it wasn't ick, I've dealt with that before. Keep in mind he's being condescending and hateful the entire time. For the life of me I couldn't recall the official name of the bacterial infection my fish have, only is sometimes referred to as black saddle. He told me he had never heard of it, fair enough. Then I remembered, it's columnaris! He proceeded to tell me it'd be one in thousand to one in a million odds that my fish had this rare disease. It's a common fresh water bacterial infection! I had already spoke to shops closer to me who knew exactly what I was speaking of but either didn't carry those meds or were currently out of both or only had one. This is a fresh shipment of fish that I'm desperately trying to keep alive. I was willing to drive all the way to his shop if he had what I needed. All he had to tell me is that he didn't have what I needed. I should've read the reviews before I wasted my time.

Cool little store. They have everything you possibly can need. From a itty bitty transparent anole or gecko to a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex, they have the food to feed almost anything and everything . My gay brother goes in there from time to time and gets a gerbil. 😆🤔💯 they seriously got anything and everything in there for a little itty bitty 7-Eleven convenience store. Very friendly staff

We have are dog groomed there and they do a fine job, she is happy and clean when we pick her up. Their groomer is wonderful, location is ideal and the price is competitive.

Wouldnt buy fish they all seem to either be dead or dieing. Not much for reptiles either. But for the most part you can get food.

Sold me a small tub of 50 mealworms and only got 12. Called to ask and the lady said that they sell them with 36 in them which is false advertisement. I will not go here again!

The store is gross, employee was rude and clueless. Didn't even acknowledge that I was there and when i asked a question they acted like I was dumb and didn't know what I was talking about. It's very small and crowded. I will never go back.
