I rarely write reviews on Google but truly felt compelled to share my experience due to the consistent incredible service I have received at Rainbow Pet Hospital. An avid dog lover, I went to Dr. Overeem before I decided to adopt my black poodle Ziggy from a shelter. Free of charge, a staff member gave me all the information about the breed's characteristics, possible future medical issues and answered all my questions. After adopting, Ziggy has been a patient at Rainbow Pet Hospital for over three years now. They were incredibly understanding and patient of the anxiety issues my dog initially came with as well as some serious medical problems. Doc and the staff were able to properly diagnose a hereditary kidney disease and literally saved my dog's life by recommending and putting him on the proper kidney diet. When my dog got tired of the chicken flavor, they custom ordered a bag of liver flavor and even gave me a discount on the food. The staff goes way above and beyond to make sure you feel taken care of despite the heavy workload. They have been super attentive with me and Ziggy, have recommended financing options and treat me and Ziggy with so much love and care. I also love the fact that the hospital is a one stop shop for medical care and food but also dental work. They just finished Ziggy's dental cleaning and it all went great! Thank you for the tireless work you do daily for all our pets and treating them like your own.

The vet was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, but unfortunately the assistant was extremely rude to me before my appointment even began. I had asked if I needed to bring a urine sample with me and was told no. I have a dog who was a rescue from a breeding facility who would not go pee for the assistant, and the assistant was obviously frustrated by this and rolled her eyes. I told her she had just gone to the bathroom and she replied “Well why didn’t you bring a sample or stop her?” while rolling her eyes again. I explained to her I was told I didn’t need to bring a sample when I asked when setting my appointment. She condescendingly stated “Well if you’re doing a urine analysis, you kind of need, you know, urine?”. I was able to get my pup to provide a sample but was extremely disappointed by this lack of customer service. My pup is also super anxious due to being a breeding dog before we rescued her and I felt like I was accused for her lack of socialization and anxiety. I have had her for 3 months and she lived in this facility for her entire life (4 years). She has come along way in those 3 months, but still has a long way to go as we continue to work with her and train her. The care for my pet was good, but I felt like the customer service overall was lacking, which is disappointing when I am paying the bill. I felt like I was treated like I did not care for my pets appropriately, when I have been a crazy dog lady my entire life. The staff was sympathetic of my dogs needs, but did not try to relate with me or provide customer service for me whatsoever. Like I said, the vet was extremely knowledgeable which I’m grateful for, but otherwise the service was extremely lacking. I don’t know if it was just a bad day because there a tons of reviews commenting about how friendly the staff is. I wish I had a better experience!

Dr. Overeem and her staff are wonderful! My dog has been coming here since he was a puppy (he’s 4 now) and we love it here! My dog has a very sensitive stomach and they always help me discern when I need to bring him in. I can’t say enough good things! During Covid they’re during curbside 3 days a week. I’m so grateful to them and all they do to keep my baby happy and healthy!

Years ago before I had dogs, I was in a terrible situation taking care of my mom's digs while she was in the hospital, Nate was unbelievably helpful to a complete stranger on the phone & helped me immensely. When I moved back to KC with a dog, I knew immediately where I would go for all care. Always friendly & helpful. Rainbow Pet Hospital should always be your choice for pet care

I LOVE Rainbow Pet Hospital! The vet and staff truly care about your animals. You can tell they are interested in making sure pets get the care they need by offering everything at an affordable price. All of the products they sell are at a lower price than even 1-800- PET-MEDS. Above all the vet and staff are knowledgeable and offer the best possible care for your four legged family members. I am so glad I found them for my two dogs!

Rainbow Pet Hospital offers decent care at decent prices. I will say all of the other reviews that mention staff being rude are definitely accurate. We brought our cat here on several occasions and were talked down to, as well as the vet herself being quite condescending. We work really hard to take great care of our cat (grain-free organic food, always up to date on vaccinations, never ever outdoors, etc) and do not appreciate the condescending manner. Other reviews have replies that essentially say "Sorry, it was a really crazy day!"....but I can attest that the several times I was in there-- on not busy days-- the demeanors were the same. The staff needs to take on a more diplomatic manner when dealing with their patients and their owners.Since then, we have switched to Union Hill and have nothing but shining things to say about them. Great prices, will squeeze you in if they have time, and are so so so kind. You can tell they really care-- and they take the time to make sure their patients know.

I've been bringing my cats to Doc and her staff for many years, and I'll be doing so until they retire or I expire. I know they care deeply about all the animals they treat, whether it's a new patient or one they've known for decades. I trust them implicitly to use their expertise for diagnosis and treatment or to give the best advice possible for home treatment. The fees they charge are so reasonable, it's obvious they do what they do because their hearts are in it. I can't say enough good things about Rainbow Pet Hospital.

This place was recommended to me by two different people who are both serious animal lovers. I now know why. I brought my baby here because after his long 20 year life it was time for the next stage. I love him very much and the process could not have been any smoother. They also offer cremation. I appreciate the compassionate service I received and will be bringing my 2 year old cat here for care from now on!

I’ve given rainbow pet hospital many chances but time and time again I was disappointed and eventually angry at how unprofessional they are, to the point that I switched vets. My cat absolutely hates the vet. He is a very difficult cat when he gets there, I’ll admit, but that’s just who he is. It’s so bad that sometimes the vets can’t even give him his shots. Me and my cat already have anxiety about the vet, so the veterinarians’ snide, rude comments about my cat’s behavior every time don’t make it better. He’s a cat! I understand their job is hard and wrangling a cat who turns feral the second he steps in the door is tough - but vets are here to help. What am I supposed to do? Because he’s so difficult at the vet, it’s been hard for me to make sure he’s on time with his shots. This last time, they sent me home a couple times with meds to make him drowsy so they could actually administer the shots. Well, it didn’t work. I don’t know why, I gave him the meds as directed. Instead of helping me come up with some solutions, they flat-out said, sorry we can’t help you. Are doctors here to help or criticize? I felt completely helpless. So just screw me, right? All I want is to make sure my cat is healthy. Thanks a lot, Dr. Overeem.My sister is also switching vets because of her experience. She had moved to a different city for a year and is preparing to move back this summer. She called to re-establish care there and instead of a friendly, helpful response on the phone, she got a judgmental, rude person who criticized her because the records reflected the last time her cats had gotten their shots there was before 2020. It just seems this veterinarian will only help you if your pet is perfect with zero issues. Guess what, that’s not how life works. I didn’t even mean to write this long review but I can’t stress how unprofessional this place is.

My Dorkie boy, half Dachshund and half Yorkie, will be 14 on the 23rd of February of this year. In his advanced age he has developed some intense allergies that effect his skin. I have been trying to find a vet that could help make him comfortable and was reasonably priced. I am so happy I found Dr. Overeem and her team. She was very thorough with Eeyore, and is extremely competent. I feel like she really listened to me and my concerns while being very gentle with him. The doctor came up with a plan we are very confident in and I believe will really improve my fur baby's life. I have no doubt she will be Ore's vet for the rest of his days and if I ever get any other pups, they will be patients of the Rainbow Pet Hospital too.

Remember when medical care was by a doctor who cared? Well at this vet you get just that kind of care. The Doc thinks in and outside the box. She is a realist, a pragmatist and one of the most caring people - your pets could not be in better hands. The staff if phenomenal too! They all make you feel like going there welcomes you into their family. This is a small clinic where you are NOT a number. The food is priced right and they are always expanding their services and knowledge. I just wish you could still find MDs with this type of dedication and personality.

It's been almost 2 years since my original post (see below) and I wanted to add what my subsequent experience with this pet hospital. We had sibling kitties that were getting old and had thyroid and other issues progress as they neared the end of their lives recently. Dr. Overeem, or Doc as we now call her, and her partner Tracy, are hands down the most compassionate and caring, competent expert caregivers I've ever experienced in my 45 years of having cats. The staff has always been kind and thoughtful., too. We called many, many times for advice, last minute emergency appointments, and sometimes what turned out to be false emergencies but were always called back by Doc many times much later than office closing time. Things can be touch and go with older cats but Doc and Tracy never turned us away. Always and tirelessly caring, compassionate and accommodating. Just truly amazing. One visit was a super cold day with howling winds and minus teens chill temperature outside. Upon leaving I had to make two trips to my car because I use a big airline dog carrier for the two cats. Before I could get back inside for my cat and carrier, Tracy - with no coat on - is at my car door with the cat and carrier (about 30 awkward lbs) just to help my younger body not to make an extra trip. Truly appreciate these lovely gentle people and the compassionate help they give day in and day out. Doc works her butt off!! They both do!! Doc has super steady hands and did all procedures like drawing blood out of tiny cat veins, taking blood pressure, etc. Amazingly, costs are super reasonable, too. Doc personally euthanized our two elderly cats within 6 months of each other. Doc had a tear and hugs for us. My husband and I love these two so much and can't thank them enough for their loving care of our cats and us, too. As long as we have cats we will continue to drive from Red Bridge for all our pet health needs to Rainbow Pet Hospital. Thank youSaved my cat's life. My other vet didn't do a complete blood panel opting for only using in house less accurate equipment that showed kidney failure after keeping him on too high a dose of thyroid medication. Rainbow Animal Hospital sent my cat's blood sample out to a lab and this showed different results than my old vet. Rainbow stabilized my cat and decreased thyroided medication and my cat is doing so much better. My old vet was treating for a false diagnosis that was killing him. So glad I found Rainbow through a friend! Thank you Rainbow team.

I have taken my dog to Rainbow for multiple years. Over a year ago my 16 year old dog stopped using his back right leg. The staff at Rainbow got him in quickly and suggested cold laser therapy. We've been doing it for over a year, every other week, and he is walking as well as he did before. I would recommend this vet hospital to anyone as they are very caring and helpful. My dog wouldn't be living his best life right now if it weren't for Rainbow.

I can't say enough about how great Rainbow Pet Hospital is, the Doctor, the staff... all really care about their furry clients and their owners. I have been going to this vet since the early 1980's and she has taken fantastic care of my animals. If you want a vet who thinks of animals as a calling and not just a pay check this is the vet for you!

I've been bringing my Nibbles here since I got him (almost 6 years ago) and Blackberry since I got her (1 year ago). I have never had a bad experience here. Doc is like a vet machine, nothing fazes her, my Nibs is very aggressive with anyone he doesn't know and he has been known to just grab on to her hand with his claws and draw blood. Doc doesn't even flinch!!! The staff and Doc are all very no nonsense. They understand how important our furkids are to us, but they also see them as actual people. You're going to get a stern talking to at the doctor if you go in for surgery but didn't fast, and you're going to get side-eyed if you go in for your furkids yearly checkup with no stool sample.They are very accommodating and I must admit that I have been THAT pet parent that calls every 5 seconds to check on their furchild, and I've also been that pet parent that goes to "visit" their furchild when they're going to be in there for an extended period of time. When I went to visit Blackberry they were very nice and I only had to wait about 10 minutes even though it was close to closing time and it was super busy.I, for one, appreciate their no nonsense attitude and the level of care they show to everyone (human and 4-legged friends alike).

I have 2 dogs for 5 years and rainbow pet is our primary vet. 1 of my dogs is a bit aggressive, but they take the time to listen and do the precautions needed to accommodate my dog and i. (My dog, really, is a love bug.(When scared, nervous, intimidated ; hes aggressive.))

My Great Pyrenees Kane needed his annual check up and shots. Dr. V was excellent as well as her techs. One female and a male. The male tech was very strong. My dog doesnt like getting his shots.

They are always able to accommodate us at the last minute for our 2 dogs' emergencies and accidents. Staff always recognize us humans and our dogs, and the dogs don't freak out when they get there. Very reasonable prices as well.
