I had my cats spayed and neutered here and I couldn’t be happier with how well everything went! Everyone I dealt with was very nice and drop off and pickup were quick and easy. Both of my cats recovered quickly and without any issues! Their prices are very reasonable, especially for all that’s included (chip, post-op meds, shots, etc). They did a great job with my cats and I’d definitely recommend them!

We have adopted both of our little fur babies here, they were very caring. The process was smoothly and they never pressured us. They inform us of different promotions that were going on and they helped us planned their check ups. The whole staff cares and they are sweet. Definitely would check them would if you are looking to adopt a new cat or/and dog 🐶 🐈‍⬛

We have been bringing our pets to them for years. They are just wonderful in every way. Staff professionalism & compassionate patience with the pets. Easily explain fees in advance of taking action. Fees are very reasonable, too. Saved the lives of more than a couple of our pets over the years, and gave us security regarding all others, especially our two current senior dogs. We love the Humane Society like family because they treat our pets with that much respect and compassion.

Genuinely upset at the rudeness of the lady on phone calls today. I called to make an appointment for my dog who I think has a UTI, upon asking for an appointment, I just wanted to verify that my pup would be okay to wait the 5 days until her appointment not even trying to get an earlier appointment, just wanting her advice, the lady snapped at me that she only had Wednesday availability and that I am welcome to take her elsewhere. I've spent hundreds of dollars here, and elsewhere I will go. I don't understand what warranted her rude and uncouth behavior, but how weird to get mad at someone for asking a genuine question.

We took our two new puppies to the Humane Society to be spayed and neutered. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Surgery went well, recovery has been smooth and the price was unbeatable!!

Picked a beautiful pup up a week ago today. A large dog named Bruce. We had him on a 14-day trial.He came to us, wormed, shots, chipped, smelly.We showered him with water and love. He is a wonderful dog! He did great in the shower!!Just to big for us. He smiles, hugs, and kisses you. He was great on leash, the kennel at night, well he whimpered and we laid on the floor beside him until he went to sleep.We had to return him because he is very strong.He played well with the toys we got him. He likes squeaky toys and the tug of war rope. He likes frisbee and tennis balls. He had the zoomies it was hilarious!He ate well, and he likes strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, tomatoes, bananas, and raw slices of sweet potatoes. We only gave him a little bit of each. We made him homemade chicken and rice, loved it!He let us know he had to potty by sitting by the back door. He did not bark all day or night. I hope someone will love him like we did.The facility is clean, and the staff was wonderful.

I had to take off work to pick my dogs up after being neutered because they had so much anxiety. First the told me to pick them up between 3:00 and 4:00 but then I got a call at 12:00 saying I needed to pick them up asap. Since they knew they both had anxiety they should have offered me the calming medicine when I picked them up. Instead, when I posted my concerns on their website they called me a few days later and offered to give me a script for calming medicine. Well by then I had delt with their anxiety and had bought treats that calm them. Other than that the fees were very reasonable and there was a week waiting on their schedule to get them in. They explained things very well about the procedure and what to expect. Overall my experience was satisfactory.

My experience with this organization spans many years as a volunteer, both working events and in the shelter working with the animals. I have adopted 3 times from here. I am truly puzzled how they get such high ratings. If you try to adopt or even meet a specific animal , you won’t get a return phone call or email -you’d better just show up and hope for the best-which of course you can’t do if they are in foster. Frequently their phone system doesn’t work properly (“press 2 for adoptions-nothing happens”) I am not just complaining-this has happened to me more than once in recent years under the current management. I know animal rescue well and this isn’t favorable to getting adopters to continue to support the organization or get animals in good homes. Sadly, I will no longer look at their adoptive animals, follow them on social media or donate. I’ve talked to other people who have tried to foster here and the response is pretty much the same -they do not have their act together. And they used to in past years for certain!

Went in to meet a specific dog listed for adoption - staff was friendly and efficient. They have a room to meet dogs. Application process was quick, reasonable adoption fees. Recommend for when you are seeking a new family member.

They were amazing! My vet quoted me almost 600 dollars for my puppy to get spayed. I reached out to multiple places but Peggy was so great. She helped me get her registered and ready for her appointment. On the day of I brought her in and she went crazy trying to get to a house at who’s name might be George. My dog tried (unsuccessfully) to jump the counter to meet George and sent everything from the counter flying - a jar of pens, a box of Kleenex, a sign etc. I was so embarrassed but they didn’t skip a beat! The lady said “sooo calming meds when she goes home?”. Of course I agreed lol. They gave me all the aftercare instructions, answered all of my questions and it only cost me 160.00 !!! I would totally recommend their services and employees to anyone!! You have to plan though, don’t call for a quick appointment cause it’s not easy for all they do. Her incision is healing nicely. The medications they gave were effective but not oversedating. They worried about her pain, her rest and recovery. After the incident in the lobby, they said she crated well and called her “a sweet girl”. They truly have our pets in their hearts. I am indebted to them for everything. I did buy her a different “cone of shame” off Amazon so she could access her food/water bowls and not hit every stair on the way up lol.

Staff takes excellent care of their animals yet the woman in charge of allowing folks to go through orientation isn't accommodating and is literally condescending to those who want to come in and give the animals love and just take care of the basics. Very sad affair for those who live close by and want to help

WOW! This little building is so full of love. From the shelter staff to the vet staff you can just tell that they go above and beyond. This organization provides incredible support (vaccinations, spay/neuters, food, and more!) to the KCK residents and beyond. I am super proud to be a supporter!

Truly a blessing to the animal community! My cat was ill about a year ago. I had no money to pay his medical costs. In tears, I called this place after being turned away from every other vet practice around town. After explaining my cat's condition and my concerns, they told me to bring him in first thing the next morning. I explained, again, my financial situation. Their response? They told me they would work with me in any possible way. Relieved beyond words, I brought my cat in the next morning. They had him healthy and happy by the afternoon. I was, literally, blown away with their level of care and concern. The veteranarian spent a half hour with me and my cat upon pick-up, making sure I knew how to administer medication and how to provide him with after-care. She answered any and all questions patiently. I would recommend the Humane Society to anybody. They were there for my cat and me at the time I most needed - thank you!

They were amazing considering the reason I had to go. My oldest dog was having seizures and had to be put down. They were very kind, considerate, and made sure I knew every part of the process.

After alot of research on where and how to adopt a kitten the Humane Society of Greater KC was the perfect place for me. I had terrible experiences at KC Pet Project and Whiskers Cat Cafe and was about to give up when I met Marcy at the Humane Society. She was accommodating so kind and made sure to help me in any way. I now have an adorable and loving kitten thanks to her and everyone there. This is the place to get your furry friend you won't regret it 😊

I am so grateful to the staff for getting me an appointment and treating my pup. I really appreciated the advice I received. It was honest and didn't make them more $$$ like some vets tend to push. My 18 year old Pomeranian went from barely standing to back to his feisty self in a few days and I'm so glad I get to spend more time with him.

We took our new dog to be spayed. They were so nice, and the customer service was excellent. I would prefer to take my pets to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City then a Vet. Took our border collie here for one of their packages of immunizations. They were incredibly prompt and courteous. Gizmo is very particular with who he will go with by himself and he has zero issues with the staff here. Will be using them again for sure!

Love the employees at the Humane Society! My little Willie got his first puppy shots here, then I brought him back to get neutered! Believe me he’s my little heart throb! My husband of 50 yrs passed away in August this year, I was devastated, I didn’t know how I could go on! Then my grand daughter did a amazing thing and bought Willie for me, my life changed! If people don’t believe that these little pets can change a persons life they have never opened their hearts to find out! Please adopt a pet and trust their needs to this humane society, they are very loving, caring people! I would not take my little Willie just any place, only the best! That’s where I took him! Willie has recuperated just fine , no issues! Trust them you won’t be sorry!
