Good selection.. except for garden plants.. The ones on the shelf looked as if they hadn't been watered since they left the nursery. I did manage to try and salvage 3 tomato plants.. would have bought more but they looked to be a waste of money.

If you want employees to treat you poorly and ignore your questions. They will let you wait for at least 20 minutes for a locked cabinet and then take the $4 item to customer service where you can wait for another 10. Perfect place if you got a lot of time on your hands

I have horrible social anxiety so I rely heavily on pickup/delivery. Did a delivery today with specific items I needed to cook Dinner. Of course a loaf of bread from the bakery is missing from my order. I don't care to come in for the reasons listed, however that's no one's business so I believe customers do delivery for various reasons. I called and called and I was understandably annoyed, because no one EVER answers. So now I've called 8 times, before finally calling customer service to page someone to actually answer the phone. Which is ironic that they tell pickup customers to call when they are there if they don't check-in thru the app.So no bread and I had to now do another delivery order paying an additional $10 plus a tip for my missing loaf of bread.Thank you so much walmart for not doing the most simplest of things, such as double checking orders going out the door. So, now I get the pleasure of tipping someone twice and paying extra for more deliveries!!! Why not right, no skin off their bottoms as clearly they dont care.Let me slow clap, because of the ridiculousness of this whole situation. The most annoying is finally getting someone on the phone and requesting the tip and any fees incurred be refunded. Of course that's not an option, even though clearly it was their fault.So to be crystal clear, not only did they carelessly dispense my incomplete order, but I also get to pay extra for them not making sure orders are whole and complete.Yippee thanks Walmart. What a gem! Avoid!!!! Seriously make the extra trip to Coffeyville, Independence needs to get themselves together cause ridiculous! And this isn't the first time I've had an issue. So yeah expect issues. Nothing is smooth with this place.

if i could leave no stars i 100% would. yesterday my boyfriend, baby, and i were self checking out, had our cash & card in hand and an old taller man came over to where we were checking out and accused us of not scanning items and went through all of our bags and checked the screen (WHILE WE WERE STILL CHECKING OUT NOT EVEN DONE), in the end he & the older wanna be pamela anderson standing there watching as well ended up looking stupid because everything was on there and i had scanned everything. even said himself everything was right. and then they continued to watch us leave. honestly one of the worst Walmart's of all time. we simply were trying to get things for our baby and dinner for that night, and instead we ended up having to deal with passive aggressive & persistent staff… pretty sure they just were being racist because we’re a mixed couple and have a baby. most likely will be going to chanute if we ever need things for our baby, and will always 100% recommend other family and friends to avoid this walmart at all costs. thank you independence walmart :)

One of the worst grocery stores I have ever been to. Bread had a little hole that looked like a rat had chewed through it. Pre made sandwich from the deli had mold on it and the hair gel I bought was open with finger marks in it. Not to mention the selection is tiny and they are out of almost everything

Employees blocking aisles is such a huge issue and leaving their stocking carts everywhere. So many times I have to make a U-turn in an aisle because something is blocking me.

Standard Walmart Experience. They like to ask for receipts at the door. I'm a fan of a polite "no thank you" without stopping. It's not Sam's Club, people. You didn't sign an agreement to be in there. They need to find another way to control shrinkage than low key accusing their customers of stealing shrouded under a thin veil or a quality check. Our transaction is done when I give my money and you or your electronic check stand give me my receipt. Until next time, outta my way!!! #FireHazard Why do they seem to check the underrepresented and the teenagers more than the majority demographic shopper? Unconscious Bias is a real thing, and they shouldn't be allowed to perform this activity based on the bias of those requesting the receipts.

Always such a pleasure shopping at the Independence KS Walmart. From the Pharmacy to the deli and the cashiers. They call me by name and are so very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They really make me feel at home.

The WORST walmart experience of my life. I have ordered online pick up a few times now, but after today won't any longer. Multiple occasions my items have been opened, some even used. Today I sat for pick up for over an hour. It's 8:20. I got here at 7am.

Most the time you have to check yourself out no one that works there can run sporting goods had to go to Coffeyville to get my deer tags cus not even the manager new how to do it not all but a lot of the people there are not friendly and don't help people

For a Walmart this place is very good. If you are familiar with my reviews you know I don't like Walmart, however here in Independence this is the only big store so I have to shop here. Like I said before for a Walmart it is nice, service is much better, they even have a few registers with real cashiers and when you need service, you may find someone to assist you with a smile.

FILTHY parking lot, FILTHY bathroomsTrash covered the benches, grass, and outside pavement. The bathrooms looked like they had never been deep-cleaned. The inside was organized and everything easy to find (thats why this gets a 2 instead of a 1.) But the general cleanliness is a one star level. I hope to see improvement in this Walmart in the future.

This Walmart is awful. They don’t support their costumers. I arrived at 10:50 pm to grab one Item I needed really bad. The night manager told us she would not let us in, due to policy. Which apparently is closing 10 min and locking the doors before the time stated on the on the website which is 11pm. This store needs to do better.

It's nice to once again be able to walk around a clean, neat store. Today is the first time I've been inside in several months. We normally do pickup for groceries. But today I had to get a prescription so I had to go inside. It's too bad they ended drive up for prescriptions. Another prescription trip!

Fairly typical Midwestern Wal-Mart in both layout and selection. This store in Independence Ks did impress me with how clean it seemed. It was well lit and the restrooms were spotless.There is plenty of free parking and there is handicap access both inside and out.

We had 2 40 packs of water, a case of Mic Ultra, a 12 pack of C. Jack and a bag of garlic heads. At the checkout the cashier said it was their policy that he had to see both of our ID, the wife didn't have hers with her and he said sorry, it's policy.Now my question is this, what if a dad and his kid is in line and dad has beer? The kid obviously doesn't have an ID so dad can't buy it per "policy"....Also why is the Independence WM the only one that has to check your receipt?

I'm more disappointed every time I shop here. This time I was behind a person with more things that I thought so I backed out of that check out station to go to the very next one. It had been manned just moments before but was abandoned at this time. Then after a couple of minutes of debate between three employees one finally checked me out. After arriving home I realized that I had been paying more attention to her poultry farm problems than I had to my own purchases. I had left a bottle of lemonade drink behind.

I have to say! IDK if it was this particular trip or time. Or, if they had inventory going on but this place was pretty darn spiffy! Every thing I was looking for was actually on the shelf, did you hear me!!!! That hasn’t happened since 20???? 19? 18? I am stunned we’re not even going into that one!
