Adorable. I absolutely love the should-be-condemned playground equipment from decades long ago (no, I'm actually serious, I love it, we had way too much fun!)Cute train park, does it work? I don't know, I'm here off season. No water, no restrooms (again, off season)Very clean campground and "playground" area. Lake smells like geese but what do you expect from a rural waterfront like this?Creepy warehouses behind the campground are, well, creepy. But doesn't seem to be anything sketchy happening. All in all a super fun place to set up camp for a night.Restrooms: Closed off season. Water also shut off in the office season. We knew this going in and were prepared for it. Recommend you do the same.Picnic area: Cute. Short clipped grass, lots of Canada goose droppings. Dogs on leash allowed.

Very cool! A few blocks off I-70 but feels so remote. Nice campground! Right on the river with beautiful large trees! A damn at the end to walk to.Pull through sites have hookups for 50/30 Amp. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Free wifi and a free dump station. Had a very relaxing and peaceful night. Policmen were on patrol. Felt very safe!. A short walk to town with many cool sights to see. Everyone was super friendly! Seems like they really make an effort to make you welcome in their town! Also, great pricing!

Basic service. Nothing fancy. All pull-thru. Hook-ups well maintained. Very reasonable price. Pleasant spots by river. Sites with concrete pads are perfectly level. Very quiet. Didn't use restrooms or showers.

Lovely area. Nice relatively level sites, clean bathrooms and warm clean Showers. Issue is the local traffic coming and going around and thru the park where one is parked up ... doesn't make one feel safe. Unless this is some security coming thru. Just be nice to know if he was. Certainly worth the money to stay here.

Wonderful RV park. City owned. Level large pull through. A mile off Freeway I a peaceful quaint town. Shade trees and small fishing lake. Ellis has made themselves proud! Catholics will enjoy the beautiful St. Mary's Catholic Church is a minute away across the lake.

Such a beautiful spot next to the river. We enjoyed a quiet evening and slept very well. City park, only $25 for the night with water, electric, wifi, and a dump station. Wish we were able to spend more time in Ellis.Restrooms: Dated, but clean and usable.Dog-friendliness: Our puppies enjoyed several walks around the camp ground and along the river.

Great little place! It's very clean and water and electric at each site. It's a good place to stop overnight when traveling. The police made rounds the night we were there, informing everyone that it was going to storm and where to go if it got bad. They were very friendly.

It is convenient to the 70, yet in a small, old town.We got in around 5pm on a Friday, and there were still several RV spots available. We camped next to some great locals and spent time at the campfire with them. It's a hidden gem.

We found this place in 2009 and marked it incase we were ever in this area again. And yes we are here again. Absolutely love this cities little park. And they added 9 more sites! Perfect little place to camp or relax from a trip. Power and water with a dumpsite. Super cool little lake with lots of huge shade trees. The city of Ellis did a wonderful job. Thank you for this oasis.❤❤ Everyone here in this town should be very proud of this park.

Nice little campground. Clean, drive thru spots. Beautiful views next to a river with a beautiful church. I liked that they had dumpsters near each spot with picnic table and fire ring, shower houses and a small playground. I gave 4 stars because they advertised a pool, but there is not a pool on site. There is a city pool several blocks away.

The other reviews are absolutely correct. Hidden gem right on the lake in Ellis. Clean, everything works. Heated shower and flush toilet bathroom with water and electric. Handicap newer RV pads. A few tent sites. Charcoal grills, and from sites 6 and up have fire rings. Inexpensive, but no amenities but the view of the lake, fishing pier, and history of the railroad is enough to provide interest. Looks like their are children train rides in the summer out of the train museum. Very cute small train used. We fit fine with all 60 feet of camper and truck. All sites are pull throughs.

Great place to camp for the night. Large easy pull thru sites. Excellent location right on the water. Well maintained. Very safe, local police patrol passed by a couple of times. Wifi that is much better than any RV park we have stayed at and paid extra for ‘premium’. Whomever is responsible for this campground and the amenities, bravo.

We were looking for a place to stay in our RV while passing through. This is a beautifully maintained municipal campground. We arrived right as the sun was setting and left before sunrise so didn’t get to enjoy the river and nearby attractions. We parked in site 8 facing the river and were the only ones there as it was off-season. Note that the restrooms are closed during off season, including the toilets, so you’ll need to be self-contained at that time. Walking distance to attractions and restaurants (we walked to the diner for dinner). Would be a great place to stay for a few days and enjoy the town. Tip: there are brochure racks by the bathrooms where you can get all the info about things to do in Ellis.

Scenery was nice, glad that they had showers, but the facilities were a little run down. Generally clean except for the millions of bugs both alive and dead in the restroom/shower areas.

Quiet, safe, pull thru , level sites, water and electric with a dump station. Couple blocks from downtown. On the water. Close to golf clubhouse for food and a drink. About 20 sites. First come ,first served. Just a beautiful area for 20.00 per nt.

Great little spot to stop for the night. Pulled in close to midnight to find several available spots with hookups and clean bathrooms with showers. Will definitely remember this one. And go to JRs Brickhouse for breakfast before you leave town.

We stopped here intending to “crash and dash” on the way home from CO but it was so beautiful we decided to hang out and enjoy. Very quiet with the sound of a train in the distance as we went to bed. I took more pictures than I did the entire vacation. The sunset and sunrise were amazing. We arrived just before sunset and I was so happy to walk into a bathroom that smelled clean! Older building but it was painted nice and obviously very well attended to. They should travel the country teaching others how to make older facilities nice for their guest.

What a hidden gem this is! This was just an overnight stay for us traveling from central Colorado to Kansas City, MO, but perfect for the $25 price. Great hookups. Ellis is a cute little town, not a ton to do there but pretty much what one might expect for western Kansas. The town has done a great job with this campground in welcoming visitors to the area. I mean, how many towns have a public campground? Would definitely stay here again if traveling in western Kansas.

This place is a gem. The sites are spacious. They back up to a small lake, which is quite pretty. It’s bordered by huge beautiful cottonwood trees. The road campsites closest to the lake are very well shaded. The sites that are farther from the lake or not. It’s very peaceful and quiet. The bath houses are immaculately, clean and extremely well-maintained and appointed. You can hear some noise from I 70 if you’re outside your camper. That’s partly because it’s so quiet here otherwise. I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend it. They do not presently have any electronic payment system. You will need cash or a check. The fee for RV and camper camping is $25 in the warm season when the water is turned on. I think it’s $20 in the cold season when the water is turned off.I’ve only had a look at the town late at night after 10 PM when everything is closed. But it looks very pretty. There are several very beautiful old stone churches, and the downtown area, which is within a five minute walk of the campground, is very attractive. I look forward to coming back when I can spend some more time here.

Nice little pond/river to kayak around on. The water level was pretty low compared to the norm but still was nice.

Nice little city park on a small lake, clean and well maintained. $15 a night off season, $20 in season. Free high speed Wi-Fi supplied by local cable company. Some sites 30 amp only, others with 30 and 50 amp. No water or restrooms during off season (mid November - mid April)Update late 2020, they have added about 10 new sites with concrete pads, 50 amp service. They still shut the water off in mid November)

Nice site for the money. Lakefront view, huge shade trees, and a nice breeze were all positives. Sites are gravel and not paved pads, so finding a level spot took a couple tries. Also, not very many 50 amp spots, and people in small pull-behinds took them before we could get there. The showers were the only true negative for me, very "city park"ish in the sense that they were not taken care of very frequently (smelly, trashy). I would definitely stay here again though, I can always take a shower in the RV!

Nice little campground ran by the city of Ellis. Inexpensive. Two sites must share a utilty post. This causes some confusion with people as most utility posts are located on the drivers side of the RV. At this campground, every second site has it on the passenger side. People get confused and pull into the sites the wrong way thus having the picinic table and firepit on the wrong side. Old rundown playground. Bathrooms were clean but very old. Mens toilet has a curtain for a door. Caretaker is a city employee and swore at me under his breath for using a freshly cleaned bathroom. The playground has a huge field right beside it that my self and others were using it to play fetch, so very dog friendly. The mini railway runs around this field. The lake, which is more like a river, has fish in it. There is a main road running right through the center of the campground and some people do not slow down. Very windy place. The wind didn't stop blowing for more than a few hours the whole time we were there. (three days) Still, a nice place for a over night stop or a few days to unwind.Playground: Old, delapitated, rustyRestrooms: Clean. Old. Painted over many times so doors would stick in their frames. Showers are free.Dog-friendliness: Although dogs must be on a leash at all times my self and others would play fetch off leash in the field and no one complained. Lake right beside the campground for dog swims.

Sweet little park right in town and not far off I-70 for $25/night. Open year round; no water in winter. Water and 30/50A sites with dump station. The sites under the cottonwoods are gravel and the ones in the open are concrete. All are pull through.
