This hotel is beautifully located, but I do not know anything about the rooms. I came here only to eat.The restaurant has the distinction of being pretty much the only thing open in Cottonwood Falls at night. So it was an obvious choice. 😂The service was OK, but quite brusk, and particularly attentive to details like keeping a water glass full.I had the chicken fried steak Saturday night special. The steak itself was good, but the gravy was very plain, and the mashed potatoes were undistinguished. So what do you say about this place… Could certainly be worse, but could also be a lot better

BE PREPARED FOR A LONG MEAL. I had a mixed experience. The server was excellent, and the food was delicious, though they were out of filet. However, waiting over 2 hours for our meal was frustrating. The owner's refusal to hire more kitchen staff was evident, and their attitude was disappointing. Despite good food and service, the extended wait and owner's demeanor detracted from the overall experience.

We stayed one night, room was great but beds were a bit hard. Very clean! As far as the dining - maybe we erred by going early in the week. Salad was good but no bread, crackers or breadsticks. My husband had a steak with mashed potatoes as a side. He received only those 2 things, no butter no parsley sprig, again no bread .. just a steak and a mound of marginal potatoes that were most likely leftovers from the weekend & reheated. My side of rice pilaf was the same, just a reheated mound of goo. Shrimp was ok, again no bread or anything to brighten up the dish like a little parsley or something. Presentation matters to some people.Waitress was good but seemed in a hurry and distracted, very blunt. They weren’t busy, just 2 tables with diners. The margaritas are really good. When I asked her about breakfast for the next morning she said they serve from 8-10 and that I should go to the next town over to get a donut there.. what?! Just tells a customer to go somewhere else to eat, I don’t get it.We’ll probably be back but on a weekend.

Started off with the French Onion Soup and Steak Stew. Both were very good, but the Steak Stew was a little better. The broth was thick and hearty, and the vegetables had a nice crunch. The main course, the Ribeye Steak, was one of the best I have had in a while. It was very flavorful with just a hint of char from the grill. Served with the fresh mashed potatoes and gravy, it was wonderful. I would love to go back again, the next time we are in the area.Noteworthy details: We arrived shortly after 5pm and the place seemed to fill up quickly.

We ate at the steakhouse and it was delicious. Beautiful building and lovely downtown with many small, local shops.Nearby activities: Highly recommend Cottonwood Falls as a getaway vacation. Quiet, beautiful and peaceful.

Very nice hotel. Small and quaint. Restaurant is popular. I had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. This was the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had! I would make a special trip just for this entree. Reservations are helpful. Sorry about the pictures but it was thick and no grissle and I was hungry.

Restaurant service was not good. Shorted on portion and waitress definitely needs more training. On a bright note the food was good tasting. We have eaten at this establishment several times and always left happy, not so much this time. Didn't say a word at the restaurant, just decided to chalk it up as a learning experience. Won't be back for a while and hopefully things are better. Update. My wife and I recently decided to give one of our favorite restaurants another try and we are happy that we did. Service was good and portions were large. The food was tasty and of good quality. The prices seem to have gone up but in these times I guess that's to be expected. We will be back again.

We met family for dinner and it was exceptional. The creamy Mushroom soup was AMAZING!We enjoyed a variety of dishes. As a mom receiving her "mom tax" I tasted them all 🤣. The chicken fried steak was my favorite. The prime rib was slightly salty but cooked perfectly!High end food and service tucked in a beautiful quaint town.

Incredible experience. The rooms are spacious and warm. The owner has preserved much of the original hotel and upgraded(?) those things that needed to be. The hotel, to my mind, captures the spirit of the West.We ate dinner in the restaurant. Food was well prepared and the menu fairly exhaustive.

The location was really cool. You can see the historic courthouse at the end of the street. It's quiet and idyllic. The hotel is not big but it is very nice, wouldn't mind to stay a weekend to get away from the city. The burger was good but the sweet potato fries were awesome. There were no screaming children, no loud obnoxious music AND alfresco dining. Had a great time, folks are friendly and relaxed.

Had lunch at the Grand Central twice while in Cottonwood Falls. Beautiful place, great atmosphere, great food. Tried steak soup, French Dip, burger, chicken strips- all excellent! If you’re looking for a nice place with great food, this is it. We’ll be back!

Place was perfect. We stayed in the clover cliff ranch room and just loved the atmosphere. Steak dinner was great along with the service. You must check out the shops in town also.

Review of the restaurant: The atmosphere was generally nice but it was so dark it was hard to read the menus. (Two couples across the room were using their phone flashlights to read them :D) We started with salads and each ordered steaks. We had to ask what the sides were as they weren't listed on the menu; we both got mashed potatoes. When the dinner arrived, there was a steak and some mashed potatoes. Period. No bread, butter, garnish, anything. My wife's sirloin was cut very strangely -- two flaps of meat connected together in the middle. We were able to finally get the waitress' attention and ordered a side of brandy cream sauce which we used on both the steak and dry mashed potatoes. It was the Saturday before Valentine's Day, and the place was fairly busy, but after the waitress brought the food she didn't visit us again until well after we were finished. My water glass was empty and I was working on my wife's by then. The food was decent, the service marginal. Just not a very polished operation.

This review is for the restaurant. The steaks here are AMAZING! Seriously, on our 2021 road trip across the US, we were so surprised to find these absolutely outstanding steaks in this small town. They are better than the steaks you get at expensive restaurants in big cities. The sides/drinks also good, but the reason to come to this restaurant is for the extremely high-quality meat. Wow!

This was a tremendous surprise! It was open, we stopped in for a bite, menu said they had steak stew! How many times does a place have stew? Had some with a salad. Oh my gosh, fantastic!! Definitely, have the steak stew, but the salad was delicious too. I had dill and poppy seed dressing - loved it! Beautiful renovation of the building. Great service. Only request is that they need to serve a roll with the stew...so you don't have to use you finger to scrape out the bowl, like we wanted to do! 😊. Well worth the ride to get there!

We were stunned by the prices of the meals on Sunday Mother’s Day. My meal was 35.00 for not much. The food was decent, but for the price, ridiculous. The wait staff was nice enough (not that great), but the owner, what an absolute grump. We tried to be friendly and nice, complimented her on the restaurant, and she practically growled back her responses. Not nice AT ALL! Not going back. No more bringing family there. The town itself is cool, but being nice to people is pretty important! And so is a sense of getting your money’s worth. Big thumbs down!

Had the most wonderful stay, best hotel around! Such a cool spot, right on main street. Nice large older rooms with a lot of history but comfortable. Here with kids and Mark was great with them and kind to us, serves a good breakfast and even offered to refill my water as we left!! If we ever come out this way again we’ll definitely be back!

My husband called in the order and the person on the phone seemed irritated and rude. The owner was not welcoming. The food was OK. But we expected it to be delicious, and it was not. The quarter cup of mashed potatoes looked downright measly next to the 12 oz tough steaks.

My husband wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday. He went there the week before and really enjoyed his hamburger for lunch. However, dinner was a bit of a disappointment. The waitress was not very friendly or engaging with the customers. (BTW, The place was empty). The French onion soup barely had any onions in it. The salad was alright. My husbands kabob and our potatoe wedges were loaded with salt. Everything tasted salty. We are customers who are willing to spend money on a decent meal, but this was not worth the price that was paid.

Nice room very cozy atmosphere I had a steak for dinner it was probably the best ribeye I have ever eaten in my life the food was 5 + Stars. The folks running the place we're all friendly and helpful and it's set in Cottonwood Falls a quaint little town with lots of antique shops a western store and a beautiful Courthouse.

I am not a steak eater but menu was mostly steak. I ordered the surf and turf and they did not disappoint. Omg I am going to have to come back for another serving of steak. Steaks cut and made to order. Creekside Farms. The staff was very friendly. Made reservations again for tomorrow night. Yum

Saturday 6:30 had a reservation. Ordered 2 prime rib steaks. Salads were good. They kept the water glass full at all times. But I believe it was due to wanting to get rid of as much of the horrid tasting water as possible. The steaks came as ordered and my potatoes were fine. My wives were stone cold. It was obvious they were in a open holding pan. We requested warm potatoes which they took the plate to the back and nuked the entire plate. Which she now had hot potatoes and a rubber steak. Proof that regardless of how great the steak meat is it is still possible to ruin it.No drinks, no desert. $65.00 You be the judge?

A simply relaxing, beautiful place. Great service and wonderful food done to perfection. The spinach and artichoke dip app was pert near the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. Kansas hospitality at it's finest. Highly recommend.
