Beautiful waterfalls, especially after a rain - sometimes so loud that you have to yell to hear the person next to you! Great spot for a little picnic or just to wade around. Or go swimming if you want to be in the lake itself instead of down by waterfalls! Also dog-friendly!

Great little Kansas escape. Short hike to a decent sized tiered waterfall. It had just rained the morning of our 1st visit which added to flow of the falls.. Very peaceful spot to hang out and reflect.

This place is gorgeous and tranquil. There are several man-made jetties for water access, unused one to set up my tent on. I would not recommend doing this as the jerries are quite narrow and sides are steep and rocky. I loved camping on it though! The place is beautiful offering fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and sky gazing. The sky. Wow. It's easy to forget how beautiful our sky is when we live around so much light pollution. This camp site is just out of major light pollution so I was able to clearly see our arm of the Milky Way, truly spectacular. If you have never seen the Milky Way or didn't even know you could view it with your naked eye, I would highly recommend Googling Light Pollution Map and head to the dark areas and look up.Will definitely return.

If you’re wanting to hike, drive about 0.3 miles up the rock road and park along the tree line where the reservoir starts. Go under the car blockade and walk along the path that crosses the reservoir edge. It’s well marked and very safe for kids of any age to walk by themselves. You could either turn right to go down to a beach area or go left to walk down to a small waterfall area. If you go to the falls, try to time if after a storm so it’s more than a trickle. Even if you don’t, though, there will be some small water areas that make it the perfect place to hunt for turtles, small snakes, and crayfish! It’s not too steep or hard, so it’s a good hike for any age.Great place to take the kids for a day outside! There’s fishing, hiking, a small waterfall that’s easily accessible, small beach areas for skipping rocks and finding shells, and endless wildlife to find. We’ve found turtles, crayfish, snakes, and tons of cool butterflies, dragonflies, and dandelions as big as our hands.

So I'm of the opinion that KS state fishing lakes are the ultimate for car campers/boondockers like myself. Chase was kind of underwhelming for me. You only get ground access on one side and the fishing was meh. Not a bad spot by any means but this is in the B tier of state fishing lakes. You'll see in the photo they were doing a controlled burn, doesn't affect my star level, they were quick and effective.

I had a ball here. Fishing was good. Caught large mouth bass, walleye, small mouth bass and one croppy. Not a lot of people. Camping was pleasant especially cause I stayed on a 65 deg night in July. Boat ramp and dock situated very nice. The road to the lake was a little rough but I wasn't in a hurry and hopefully it keeps some people away. I didnt get a chance to hike to the water fall but I will be back to do that.

Really beautiful, plus it's free with no reservations required. Do be aware that there are limited facilities and no dumpsters.

Beautiful and serene, came to see the waterfalls, however, it being the middle of July and no rain as of late. It left us disappointed from the lack of water over the falls.I would to come back when the water is more abundant as I know this place would be more beautiful than what we witnessed.

Awesome hidden treasure! A quick 5 minute walk accross the dam and to the left down the river path and you are there at a beautiful tiered waterfall to explore!

Set in the beautiful Flint Hills. The waterfalls a short hike down from the far end of the dam are pretty neat.

Beautiful lake. And when the waterfall is flowing and not in drought conditions, this is the most beautiful one in the state.

Tent camped here on a bike trip. Lots of nice spots along the lakeshore with picnic tables and fire rings. Some others around making noise or taking advantage of the free land but that’s typical. Felt pretty safe the whole night

Nice fishing lake with a pretty waterfall. I saw some people swimming at a little beach there, but I don't know that I would get in the water. It is a bit of a hike to get to the waterfall, but it is pretty even when it isn't flowing very well. At the bottom of the falls are little pools that were nice for my 3 year old to wade in. We struggled to find the trail to the waterfall, but it's right near the entrance to the lake.

This place is amazing. Out in the middle of nowhere with hardly anyone around. My wife and I took many beautiful pictures and had our telescope out since there is no light pollution. Another cool thing is since there's no light pollution you can clearly see the milky way.

So disappointed to finally arrive at the entrance of the lake only to find it “closed until further notice.” Would have appreciated that information being available online so we wouldn’t have attempted to go. .....Update..... deep into the Kansas Outdoors website there was a notice posted on April 7th regarding this closure. We checked the website just a day too early in planning our excursion.Having been back to the lake several times now (when it was open!) we have had a great time.

Prather Creek Falls, also called Chase Lake Falls, is a waterfall in three sections on the spillway of Chase State Fishing Lake. As a spillway waterfall, it's very sensitive to water levels. Despite rain when we visited, there was very little water flow. Only the lowest section looked anything like a waterfall. The middle section looks like it would be the most scenic if the water was higher. You can park by the dam and follow a path across the dam and then down the spillway to the waterfall. Although the waterfall was a little disappointing, there were a lot if wildflowers blooming along the dam and the lake was very pretty.

No water so no falls, cool little hike to check it out, but literally a billion mosquitos, so pity sad million times. Btw, locate the falls by walking across the dam thing, all the way in to the dried up creek bed and just follow it all the way til you come to it. No water so no falls, cool little hike to check it out, but literally a billion mosquitos, so pity sad million times. Btw, (on NE-ish side of lake) locate the falls by walking across the dam thing, all the way in to wooded area and in to the dried up creek bed and just follow it all the way til you come to it.

Nice spot for some camping on the way through KS. There aren't many sites, but plenty were available on a Wednesday. It's definitely a fishing lake, but some were swimming. We didn't fish, but a bald eagle did which was fun to watch!

Camped here twice this year. First night was perfect! Stars were out, wind was blowing and made for a cool night. Second time was last weekend, early October. Much cooler at night, but that wasn't the problem. You ever hear a bowling ball drop in to a lake from a b-29 bomber? Thats what the geese sound like hitting the water just feet from the camper! And then they honked all night telling us about the great escape and smooth landing in the water! Honk honk honk! What a night.........in CHase county ks!

This was a great time at the Chase State Fishing Lake! First time being there. I really liked the parking areas right at your place to fish, taking pictures, and having a picnic! Very quiet and relaxing! It was a great time!

This lake seemed mainly there for the residents. Luckily the waterfall was my main purpose for visiting this lake. I highly recommend seeing it in the spring when the water levels are higher. Very beautiful view.

I loved camping here! It was very peaceful and well-maintained. It was a busy weekend, but we came in around 7 PM on a Friday and were able to find a place.
