We had wanted to try this place for a while but it never worked out. They are only open Friday-Sunday. The stars aligned and Sunday was the day we got to try it. The chicken was great! Seriously, it was so good! The sides were fine but the chicken was the star. (I had to order the side of spaghetti because I can't recall ever seeing it as a side at a chicken joint.) Everyone was very nice too!

My chicken was overcooked and so was one of my family members.Handbreaded chicken breast very nice servings size and good flavor so maybe you all should use a thermometer for the chicken not saying I wouldn't try you all again.This is the only complaint I really had very pleasant staff with an overworked waitress buy she did great Had a group of 8 and the other tables were busy. So just be mindful Chic Shack.And I will be back for one more try hope this is takin the right way just trying to help you all get more business.Don't forget the Chicken thermometer.sorry but I'm blunt and straight forward.

We took pecan rolls home for the next morning to eat with coffee. They were excellent! I appreciated the free drink for veterans.Kid-friendliness: The waitress provided a booster seat for the little girl next to us for her baby Yoda.

You can only get it on Friday but the fish is a must try. There chicken is good also but I'll definitely be getting the fish next Friday.

The atmosphere is very down-to-earth and cozy. Our waitress was very friendly in the food was very good. A hidden gem for sure!

My first time here! Everything was absolutely fantastic. The fried chicken was melt in your mouth hot and delicious. The side dishes were amazing, try the fried corn!! Onion rings for some of the best I have ever had. They are located conveniently between iola and fort Scott, a quick trip from either place and well worth it. Only a few minutes off of highway 169.

Just stopped here for some food on our way back to Kansas City and I'm glad we did. We arrived just a few minutes before closing (not knowing their hours) and asked them if they were still cooking. They said they were, so we ordered two meals and desserts to go (because of COVID-19). Sat in our car and devoured everything. It was a pleasant surprise since we didn't expect much being that we were in the middle of nowhere. The service was nice and quick and the food was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. If we're down this way again, we'll definitely make another stop.

It's been a couple of years since I have been here. The last time was on a SAT before dinner and I just stopped as I was in transit, ordered what I wanted and sat in my car out front while it was being prepared.My order was finished and delivered right to my car instead of me having to get back out and go back inside. A blessing for me because I deal with constant chronic pain in my back & hips.I found it reasonably priced and too hot to eat... LoL ~ very freshly preparedI would recommend it to anyone.

I am never disappointed every time we go there or order, which is not very often because we live 2 1/2 hours away. The garlic potato salad and the flavor of the chicken coding cannot be matched

We had the chicken livers, catfish dinners: moist meat, delicious coating and generous helpings. Very good! Disappointed that green beans were no longer on the menu. We definitely will return though.

Good fried chicken, nothing grilled. Small salads. Pillsbury style processed biscuits. Would like to see healthier "down home cook'n from scratch" options. Nice waitress but did not bus the empty dishes set at edge of table.

Outstanding! Fast and friendly service and delicious food. Stopped on our way home and has a to go order in 10 minutes. I'll make the 40 minute drive to sit down and eat next time!

Chicken fried steak dinner is really good everybody I'm my group liked what they got I asked for extra gravy and they brought out a big bowl with enough for everyone at the table. Overall good food and you will leave full at a decent price

Great place to enjoy lunch and spend quality time with family & friends. Great chicken recipe that's been passed down for generations and fabulous coleslaw! Great onion rings too!

Had the 3pc white chicken dinner with baked beans and mashed potatos/gravy and split a full order of onion rings. All were delicious. Rings had a nice delicate coat and not greasey. Chicken had a nice crisp on it...2 breasts and a wing this time...may vary with traffic requests. Baked beans had a nice smoke to them & Real mashed potatoes. Took some of each home. So, for a tad over $10 on my 3pc plus a 4way split on the rings we have another helping. Good stuff. Good service too.

Wow if you want some good good homemade chicken real chicken that is that is raised oh my goodness this is the place to go big plump chickens that the breading is so delicious on you have got to try it if you love fried chicken all you have to do is go to this place and I promise you you will not regret it.
