My sister and I stopped in at Monarch while driving home from New Mexico. We arrived only about 20 minutes before they closed but we were greeted by the owner, Kelly, who promptly served us at the soda counter despite experiencing a rush in the pharmacy. Once things had calmed down for her, Kelly took the time to visit with us and another couple from Europe and told us the history of her business and the surrounding area. Kelly's hospitality was definitely one of the top highlights of our eastward Route 66 journey. If I ever find myself back in Baxter Springs, I will look forward to enjoying another old fashioned soda at this gem of an business!

A Route 66 highlight for us. Amazing old school soda fountain. A perfect place to stop off in Kansas for a ice cream or shake. Highly recommend to anyone doing the Route 66. Thanks for giving us showing us some great Kansas hospitality.

They weren't technically open for soda and ice cream when we stopped by, but they chose to let my family in so we could have a treat!It's a modern take on a throwback format, with a soda shop in an actual working pharmacy. The soda and ice cream were great and the staff was friendly and talented. Loved it!

this place is truly wonderful. I visited them to install a sign for my job, and they gave me a free scoop of ice cream (I got the coffee flavor and it was incredibly good). I have no doubt that they're a great pharmacy and soda fountain too. the atmosphere is adorable as well.

My significant other and I were driving ALL of Route 66 and came across this little gem. Everyone was so nice, pleasant, and welcoming and this building is gorgeous. Ice cream was fantastic!! Thank you Monarch Pharmacy!!!

After touring all 48 lower states and trying ice cream in each this past summer, my family agrees this is one of the best! The staff, the cool decor, and the old-time fountain vibe make this a very memorable stop! We highly recommend!!

OMG! I asked the pleasant lady to surprise me and surprise me she did! With an amazing strawberry vanilla float! So so good! Baxter Springs is blessed to have such a place! Worth every penny!!

Went in there because I needed some butterfly bandages and iv been wanting to go in there since I moved to town everyone there was super friendly greeted me when I walked in the door I’m super excited to go back and get there soda and try there ice cream
