The owner is super professional and helped give us directions on the training needs of our 1 year old. It's been so hard to find trainers you can trust, especially in the pandemic. So when she spent an HOUR with us for our evaluation, we were so grateful.

We do NOT recommend Kawa Farms for Board and Train. ($2,250!!) When we began our search for a trainer we asked around and received mixed reviews about Kawa Farms. However, after speaking with Jen we felt confident that Kawa Farms was the right choice. Unfortunately, we are disappointed in the end result. Overall, we feel like we lost 6 weeks with our puppy for minimal training. We were very clear with Jen about our expectations on multiple occasions. We asked that our 11 week old puppy not jump, learn general commands such as sit, stay, down and walking with a lead. We also asked that she be potty trained. We were told by Jen that this wouldn’t be a problem. She informed us that our puppy would be living in the house with her due to her young age. We later learned that she only lived in the house for a short period of time and was then moved to the boarding kennels. We quickly realized that training was not going as planned. After 2 weeks at Kawa Farms our puppy had not learned one command. We were told by Jen that it was our puppy’s fault and that she must have experienced some sort of trauma which is not the case. She offered to keep her for 2 additional weeks at no charge. We trusted in her process and agreed to the extended training. When our puppy completed the 6 weeks of training she could sit and come on command (only for a treat and using a clicker) and would sometimes lay down on a soft surface only. This is obviously not what we expected for the time and money spent. We feel like the failed attempts to train our puppy were always blamed on the puppy. Now that we have her at home we disagree with that assessment. She is very trainable and we have been able to teach her a lot.Jen informed us that she would follow up with us in 2 weeks at our home. We never heard from her. We sent her an email regarding our disappointment and received no response. Overall, we feel our puppy would have learned more in a general puppy class.

I have worked with Kawa Farms for over 5 years. We rescued our1st dog Diesel who had a rough 6 months of life before we got him. Working with Jenn and her Taylor with Diesel’s issues have helped us and him immensity. Jenn and Taylor took on the challenge to see if Diesel could be a service dog for me. After training for several months Diesel just wanted to be a dog and I was okay with that. Diesel is a better behaved dog after see them for training. Our 2nd dog Copper came to us at 8 weeks (I think) and went straight to Kawa Farms for service dog training so Copper would get all the training he needed. With all the training that Jenn and her staff did, I can now say Copper has just graduated the 2 year service dog program. Copper is doing is tasks and so much more for me and I’m very thankful for Copper. The staff is still here for me when I need the training and guidance. Diesel still goes to the facility for boarding and I know Diesel is in good hands. I trust them with Diesel and Copper they are my fur babies. The trainers are very well knowledgeable not just in dog training but "people training"as well. Which we all knew I needed and still need most of the training but I couldn’t have done it without Jenn and her staff! Thank you for everything

Jenn and her staff are wonderful! We have been doing training sessions with her for the past 4 months and our French bulldog who has reactivity and aggression issues has improved greatly! We just finished our first board and train at Kawa Farms, and we are very happy with how it went, they took excellent care of our dog. We are so happy we found Kawa Farms! :]

I was helping a friend of mine move from Texas to Minnesota this weekend. They could not have a dog at their new residence. The dog was supposed to go to my friend's dad's house in IA. A last minute complication forced us to find a kennel in IA for the night until her dad could pick the dog up. Being a holiday weekend we were scrambling for a solution. I called an old friend whose spouse owns Kawa Farms and asked if there was any way they could help us out? When we arrived I was very impressed with the facilities and the owner, Jenn, asked all the right questions about my friends dog. She asked about all her likes and dislikes, any special needs, any preferences, made sure we had all the proper paperwork for my friends dog. I was very impressed with the whole operation.

GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Our 6 month old spent a week here during Spring Break. The time Jen spent with us at pick up was MOST VALUABLE!! We have a better understanding of how we were previously confusing our dog, and she showed us how to correct our actions. (All 4 of us....including our 6 and 8 year old daughters.) THANK YOU!! We'll be back. 😃

Initial orientation went well. We talked about what I am looking for and where we are now. This should be the push we both need. Nice big indoor training area.

Buyer beware!!!This trainer took pre-payment for training a service dog promising to give the "family discount" I was given a quote of $1500.00 and then I find out after the fact that she intended to charge me 15,000.00 and refused to give me a copy of my contract. After keeping my dog for 1 week I was told my dog wouldn't come to her and had made messes in the trainer's home. Then stated that my dog was not service dog material. We told this trainer that we needed to think about what to do going forward as we were made to believe that my dog was not good enough after this trainer had made promises to assist in my selection process. My dog with a much better trainer is now working as my service dog.I have proof this trainer is a liar and a cheat, I have proof and will tell and show anyone who will listen about the real story behind her "success story"So buyer beware!!!! Check the federal regulations on service dogs and do lots of research on the trainer you choose being especially cognizant of customer comments.

My dog Delilah was a brand new dog when I got her back. Tara her trainer was phenomenal. In just an hour she taught me everything she taught Delilah. She showed me what Delilah was receptive to and what she was still struggling with. She showed me how to keep up the training and since then Delilah has been a phenomenal companion. I am so greatful for Tara and Taylor.

We adopted a rescue that was already full size...100#. We were told he was just broken and trained....joke was on us we he broke out of his kennel and DISTROYED our house the first day he was home alone (2 weeks after adoption) TWICE in one day. DISTROYED isn’t a word that I use lightly....imagine the amount of poop a 100# dog can produce....now imagine that in liquid form + stress/separation anxiety (that we didn’t know he had) + urine being tracked for your house for HOURS after his Houdini style escape(s)....windows, walls, couch, rugs, doors, counters, etc. covered in “Lewie-liquids” (not to mention the hole in the drywall next to the front door and the kitchen window from his attempts to escape). He was the worst of the worst and we allllll needed Jen’s help. She was a gift from my parents for Christmas and boy she, to this day, is the best thing that could have happened to all of us. She was ON IT. She worked with Lewie immediately and endlessly with positivity and understanding. She was available to us for any and all questions we had and, quite honestly, trained us, just as much as she trained our fur child in how to communicate and understand each other. Over a 6 month period our pup went from “untrainable” to the “perfect”. Lewie is now a free-to-range-the-home pet with no issues. We all walked alway with so many new understandings of each other. And when Lewie (and the humans) had graduated from needing her help she still makes phone calls/texts/and house calls when she is in the area to check in on us and we are all excited to see her. Lewie improved almost immediately on a leash, he knows both sign language commands, and verbal commands. He has undergone impulse control trainings (if something falls on the floor he doesn’t immediately try to eat it but instead looks to his humans, makes eye contact, and waits for commands in order to take something).Jen also was there when we brought home our daughter from the hospital to make sure that there weren’t any early signs of contention and uneasiness on Lewie’s Part. She also interpreted the good behaviors that Lewie would display around our daughter and why they were important.I could go on and on but I hope this helps paint a picture of not only how important your pup is but how vitally important your TRAINER is. We found a friend for LIFE! Thanks to Kawa Farms for everything that you have done and continue to do for us!I would also like to add: the negative reviews...this isn’t magic...if you want to have your pup listen to you then you also have to be willing to put in the time just as they have. If you don’t want to listen to their professional opinion and aren’t getting the same results as the profession then maybe it’s not the professionals fault. You can’t see change if you don’t change. If you don’t like the professional opinion get a second one. And a third. And if you get the same opinion from all of them then move on.

Previous employee. Seemed like a fun summer job but turned out to be a very sketchy work environment. The employees were nice but the owner was abrasive and short fused. I applied online to the job as part-time for the hours they advertised which were either W-F 3-10 or weekends 1-9. Got neither was a fulltime filler for there only two other people that were working my same job. As well as never was able to actually access my work area myself due to it having a code lock. After I had quit I was promised my check to be mailed to me on the 5th and yet still dont have it. I had gave the owner a call by her personal phone other than her business cell and was met with her short fused attitude to never call her again. Beware future workers. Btw I was there 6th hire within 2 weeks so if that doesnt say something I dont know what does.

Kawa Farms is a 5 star hotel for your fur member of the family. We drove an hour out of our way to take our 3 fur children to Kawa Farms when we were leaving on a 5 day trip. Why? They get care but more than that they get attention and love. And we get photos and updates to ease our minds.

Very dog savvy here! The design and structure all created around the best interest of the dogs. Knowledgeable in training the dogs and educating the humans who handle them.
