Adorable walk up ice cream shop located on the corner of John Wayne Dr & E Green St, offering more than just ice cream. In fact it looks like they have quite the menu to choose from. Prices are good. We chose medium size soft serve cones which were quite generous. There are only outside tables to sit at. Parking is on the street as far as I could tell.Definitely a place to stop when visiting Winterset, IA.If you deem this review helpful, please give it a like. Thank you.

The ice cream here is creamy and delicious! I've only had the crunch cone, but I can imagine everything else is just as good. And you honestly can't beat the prices. You get way better value compared to a place like Dairy Queen. Highly recommend Frostee's!

The kids love it.. expensive ice cream and fried food I can make at home but memories made for the kids warrants a trip or two each summer. Friendly staff. Longest lines ever, can’t pay with card. Only cash, and parking is not really a thing. Very busy intersection if you have small children to keep near.

As a frequent customer of frosty’s, I’m still in shock with how terrible we were treated by the owner. After my 5 year old and I tried our cyclones, we realized they accidentally made the wrong order. We got back in line to ask if we could trade ours for what we ordered. The owner came up and in a rude and combative tone asked “what do you want me to do” she then dug through both of our cyclones to (Im assuming make sure we were telling the truth?) She then told me “I could dump them out and check” I said that was okay if she wanted to. Finally she said “what do you want more topping” then literally threw the topping on top of both of our cyclones and shoved them through the door. I told the owner I wasn’t trying to be rude, we just wanted our right order that we paid for. She didn’t apologize, just rolled her eyes and said she had new staff working. The owners behavior was completely out of line and uncalled for. Especially in front of a child! Yikes! On the positive side we used this as a learning experience that unfortunately when you encounter very rude and unpleasant people always be kind and respectful.

Great prices on a perfect night for my first time tasting the treat and introduction to the staff. Other customers were friendly and even said “hello” with an ear scratch for the dog. ItWas her thirteenth birthday four days ago.Thank you everyone and I am sorry about the screaming child that was accompanying me.

This is an awesome walk-up restaurant! My husband and I went here for the first time on Labor Day and we will definitely go back. Their helpings are generous, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They do only take cash only, but that helps keep prices low. We didn’t have any cash, but there is a Kum & Go across the street we easily got cash back from—and it was so worth it! Their fries were some of the best I’ve had (made fresh), and their ice cream was delicious! I got a small fry and shake, which would’ve easily been a medium-size elsewhere.

We had chilli dogs and fries. One of the best chilli dogs I've had. Fries were really good too. We didn't have ice cream because we were too full but alot of people getting some today.

The best! The tenderloins are worth a trip to Winterset. Top that off with a chocolate shake and you're good to go!

First off just want to start off by informing people to bring cash or local check as this is the only forms of payment that this place accepts to my knowledge as of now. Our review of this place is that it is awesome. Place is always busy and for good reason. They have a very friendly staff. This place offers a very nice selection for ice cream. The food that they offer here is also great. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Definitely drop by if your having a sweet tooth craving!! Everything is very reasonably priced in my opinion.

Something about a small town ice cream and food shop... I just love it. Relaxed, affordable, good eats. Can't go wrong stopping by. No frills, but who needs complications these days. I can feed the family including ice cream for under $20. Cash only - be prepared.

Delicious ice cream treats and food! Very nostalgic in the heart of Winterset, they serve all of your childhood favorites and more! Its cash only but definitely worth stopping if you're in the area. We enjoyed a banana split, strawberry shortcake, a baby cone for the pup, and cheeseballs to share.

YESTERDAY I had a beef burger tasted like a tacoIt was good 3 bucksCalled for same tonight they were 4 50 each because i asked for the taco burger they added sour cream an a olive and charged 150 per burger owner hung up on me when i called for explanation!As far as we are concerned this adorable place just ripped me off so dinner is ruined anyhow HOW SAD THEY HAVE TO YRICK OUT OF STATE COUPLES THAT DID LUKE THIS PLACE YESTERDAY BEWARE HOW U ORDER BECAUSE THEY CHARGE MORE FOR HOW U SAY IT !

Quaint shop, old style walk up ice cream shop which also makes burgers and fries. Just off the town square which has a beautiful old courthouse. Tasty treats in a great location. Remember - Cash only

They make the best shakes around. And they make them with real fruit. They don't just sell ice cream either, they have burgers,chicken strips, and walking tacos. Fries and onion rings as well.
