My boyfriend and I went together a while ago and it was incredible. It was my first time going there and I was shocked at how reasonably priced the menu items were and how great the food we got tasted. It wasn’t very busy the day we went but the guy working there that day was super friendly and fun to talk to. 10/10 perfect spot to hangout and get food, I plan on going again soon!

This place is a priceless historical artifact. An old fashioned soda fountain and museum. Ice cream treats are delicious. The rest of the food is unspectacular but perfectly acceptable. The single unisex bathroom is spectacularly tiny, but that's all just part of the charm. Pretty spectacular patriotic mural on the side of the building.

Literal blast from the actual past and my past. When my son decided he wanted a root beer float for his 21st birthday, I remembered the candy kitchen from when I was an intern with the Wilton Police Department. Store and town are just how I remember it 28 years ago. Enjoyable time and trip. Old fashioned made sodas. Totally worth the drive.

This is one of the most special places to me. I hadn’t been here in nine or ten years. I finally got to come back and it was just as good as it used to be. So many memories of coming here in the summers with my grandparents. So glad that in a crazy world, there are still some good things that never change. The ice cream is perfect as always. The strawberry ice cream soda is tasteful and refreshing without feeling too rich. Many other great flavors. So glad that this place full of childhood memories for me is still alive, and that people can still experience just how special Wilton Candy Kitchen is. ❤️ The people who work here are very sweet. This is worth stopping in Wilton not only for great ice cream, but also for a great experience.

What a trip through history with some very delicious ice cream. If you’re in the area , its definitely worth a stop . The staff is friendly , prices very reasonable. They have all the old soda shop favorites . The cherry nut ice cream was delicious. Omg. Can’t wait to go back .

Famous and fun. Such surprises and a budding museum, too. The owner was there and a willing wealth of information. Stop for all manner of ice cream treats and old time candy. Having a fun time is a given. The owner is of a seven generation Wilton family.

I lived in in Wilton for about a year growing up and this is the only thing I remember from living there! I’ve always been obsessed with this place and their ice cream! I knew the original owners and am happy that it has been passed down in good hands! I love this place so much that I asked the owner if I could do a photoshoot there because it’s so vintage and unique! (I’m a photographer- @jaydeloralphotography) The owner had no problem with it and even made us a sundae for the photos! Always 100/10 recommend!

I'm sure it was probably worth the wait however it was just too crowded during the Founders Day celebration today to get an order in.

Staff was super friendly and the shake was good. The ice cream and old school candy are all reasonably priced. The museum in back takes you back in time.

A slice of Americana! A gem! Small town Iowa at its best. An original historic soda fountain using family recipes passed down for generations. Sit at a table or at the counter for even better experience.

This place is amazing. Super friendly service- very great! The atmosphere is perfectly retro candy shoppe. The menu is filled with nothing but amazing sounding items. Ice cream and shoda shop sodas of all kinds.I tried a Cherry Shake- old style mix of rich milk and ice cream! They are all mixed like they used to be- not a sludge of ice cream barely cut with milk. It is a subtle cherry flavored, melted ice cream consistency (perfect) shake.Will. Come. Again.

Stopped in on the way back from Iowa City. Read about it but never stopped. Nice and nostalgic. Reminds me of my youth. Got a countertop with stools. And a small museum in the back.

Soda jockey was awesome. Very fun to talk to. Great story telling. It was a little disappointed that the cream is not made there anymore, but it's still made in Iowa.

My Family and I absolutely love going here. The ownership is absolutely top notch! They treat you like you are a life long family member they haven't seen in a long time. Any one and everyone who has not had the pleasurable experience of visiting this fine historic establishment needs to absolutely make it a must visit. Thank you Candy Kitchen for making our visit an absolute great experience each and every single time.

We recently collaborated with the fine owners of the Candy Kitchen on a custom LED blinkee pin designed to look like their store's neon sign. They are very fine folks to work with and we enjoyed it tremendously.

This place is loaded with charm and whimsy! There aren’t many of this historic soda shops around. I highly recommend stopping in. You won’t regret it. You will be transported in time. Try a chocolate malt with banana or an orange creamsicle ice cream float. The options are only limited by your imagination for malts and shakes and floats. Or… it’s get a scoop of your favorite ice cream flavor. They have a few sandwich options as well, but this place is all about the ice cream experience! And, it’s a great one!In eastern Iowa and looking for a quick weekend or an afternoon/evening summer destination with a group of friends or family to have a fun experience? It’s worth the drive!

Cute candy shop & ice cream parlor. Apparently it’s the oldest in Iowa. Lots of cool history posted on walls throughout.

Go have fun. This is an amazing little shop. Have a light lunch with some ice cream. Several flavors of old style soda that can be mixed a matched to your taste. Best bannana split I've found in a long time , made the original way.

Haven't been there for quite a few years, but some of my best childhood memories are in the candy kitchen. I can't speak for the current owners, but George made the best fountain drinks. I'd kill for one of his vanilla phosphates!

Their customer service is great and their ice cream is absolutely delicious! My only complaint was that nobody inside was wearing a mask and it is a very tight space, so I did not feel safe staying inside (we ate outside). That being said, I will definitely return post pandemic to get the full soda fountain experience :)
