There are numerous Fareway in the Des Moines Area and a person can pick and choose where they wish to shop. This is my least favorite store due to slow service, but this one is small and not as crowded as some of the other franchises which makes me think staff should be fast, more professional and willing to serve.

I was in this location today, my usual store. (Grand Ave and 4th Street West DES) I was pleasantly surprised to see ribs in the rotisserie. They ended up being better than I thought they would be. Not quite fall off the bone but the quality and quantity and flavor made them well worth the price. Please make this a regular addition to the rotisserie line up.

I used the bakery and I am so excited to celebrate my daughter's birthday. They made her cake perfectly except for misspelling my daughter's name. Even then it wasn't that bad it was an easy fix for me. I honestly found it funny. In my opinion they made the cake unlike Hyvee.

Fareway is known for its superior meat. However, when I went for a flat cut brisket, the "butcher" who helped me didn't even know which end of the brisket to cut it from. I got a 3.5 lb piece of meat with 1.5 lbs of a thick, disgusting fat layer on it, even after asking the ill-informed met cutter to trim it. I'll not go there again.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The meat counter is better than most of the other grocery stores in town. The stores don't offer as much variety as the larger box stores, but the selection is good.

Check your receipt. Charged twice for item. Marked sales items are still full price at checkout. Yes, I bought the quantity required to qualify. Staff not happy to be at work. The time to correct these issues is of no concern to managers. It's just never a pleasant experience with problems every visit.

Clayton West in the Bakery did an awesome job on my daughters graduation cake! We got lots of compliments. The produce department made incredible fruit and vegetable trays also. I highly recommend this store.

Never go anywhere besides this store. Bakery, grocery, and meat depts are always on top of the game. They even have compost bags. Self checkout is available for when I have a handful of items, and cashiers are available when I have a cart. I'm in here twice a week usually.

I just moved to Des Moines, and ventured into Fareway for my first time this evening. Although it was a half hour to closing, staff were incredibly cheerful, kind and helpful. Big shout out to Erica my cashier for her kindness. Biggest shout out to Ben, who drove my cart out to the parking lot, packed the groceries away in my trunk, and returned the cart to the store. I’ve never experienced such customer service, and NEVER had anyone help me with my groceries. This is the kind of shopping experience you see in Americana 1950s and 1960s movies- where people really care. Glad to have found my new grocery store. Thanks guys!

Post-Pandemic, Fareway has really come out on top over HyVee for me. Still less of a selection, but the prices haven't been jacked quite as high, and they are always well staffed. Zero decrease in quality of service over the near decade I've been going.The meat department rocks, and most registers are staffed when it gets busy.

Had a terrible experience today. Meat counter trying to sell Frozen Fresh Brats. Seriously?? I spend a lot of money and never once concern if it's Frozen. Management get this figured out. Hy-Vee down the road doesn't sell brats frozen. Even if it's on Sale this week 2.99 per lb.Management: sent you an email

This may come as a shock...but this was my first ordering with Fareway online. So far, I can say I like the generosity from the employee who brought me my groceries. She was awesome & super sweet. The deals looked better...like buy 4 of the 6 pack of Dr.Pepper for $8.88?! 😱 😁For my first time shopping, I liked it and I hope I can leave another good review in the next couple of months. 😊

Had great service here a few weeks ago. I overspent and needed to take items off and I experienced some of the the best customer service I have ever received. The new Assistant Manager opened up a lane just to help me and said I could pick item by item what I wanted to purchase and waited without rushing me. It was very sweet and that is how you win a life long customer, service like he provided.

Faraway is always one of the best places to buy meats. It has been the go-to place even when I lived out of state. I would place the order to my specifications, and they even double-wrapped to ensure good traveling. Their prices are competitive

This family store had an 12 year arrested and charged for stealing battery ($5). the parents tried to pay for them. The store measured looked over at the family and said no we want to press charges. The kid never left the store. We all need to protect our youth, educate our youth. Help our youth. They the future. On this note I will not shop at this store ever again. PROTECT OUR YOUTH

Just walking in raised my spirits & I bought several impulse buys after the meat Dept. helpfully matched a competitor's ad I had brought. And I always appreciate the courtesy of assistance to my car. From being a smaller grocery store they have a good variety they sell different things than Hy-Vee does it's just a nice slower change of pace than a busy grocery store staff was helpful too best meat counter in town worth your visit still my favorite place to go by far the best place on the west side to get groceries staff is the best and never too crowded always good deals still the best place to buy steaks ever tremendous deals and quality meat products but highly suggest this place over any place else always a good sale going on you never know what kind of treasures you're going to find going into the store so highly recommended you take a trip here to see what kind of sale you you can find

Wonderful Experience!!Recently, we ordered two meat bundles to give as Christmas presents. However, we realized we forgot to pick them up tonight, Saturday, December 23rd and store is closed tomorrow and Monday. When we called after the store closed tonight, (9:15)the produce manager agreed to meet us at the front door with our packages. Thanks for so much for going above and beyond with your service. Shirley always has an excellent customer service toward me. We got to introduce ourselves this morning. Fareway need to hire more people like her. No one that works there, " does not greet or even say thank you." Shirley always do her job, why can't the rest of the team do that.

I want to thank Fareway for their great drive up shopping service. I am 81 and have used their telephone shopping twice and each time Kirk has been so great at selecting and delivering my groceries to my car. He is very friendly, cheerful and efficient. All I can say is that Fareway has one great employee in Kirk.

Went to this grocery to get food and the guy in the meat counter was not so friendly. Did not even want to wait on me. Saw me standing and waiting he just moved on to someone else and acted like I was not there. I do not know why customer service is so hard to do. If it was not for customers u wouldn’t have business! The staff needs some training on customer services except for the guy who takes your groceries out to your car.😡

Love this Fareway. The location is great for easy in/out of the parking lot. NIce wide aisles. Bakery has wonderful cakes and extremely helpful staff. Checkout lanes are usually available without a long wait as they will call for extra help if just one or two people are waiting.

I have never been to a Fareway with such unhelpful employees. I've had to push my own cart out numerous times. If it was busy I could understand, but two employees standing by the exit door just watched me. The meat counter guy who always very rude and acted like I was bothering him. I will be changing Fareways.
