I called in a refill request on Thursday, 4/4. The pharmacy told me the medication would be ready on Friday, 4/5 but not mailed out until Monday, 4/8. I did not receive the medication by Tuesday, 4/9 so called the pharmacy to confirm the medication had been mailed as promised. I was told the medication was ready but had not yet been mailed. When I asked why it had not been mailed, I was told they probably hadn't gotten to it yet. I am now out of the medication I should have received today.

Every time I come to this pharmacy, it takes forever to get my meds. I’ve been out of state for the past 4 weeks while my newborn son was in the hospital for heart surgery. We were told yesterday his meds would be ready by NOON today. We finally got to bring him back to Iowa today after his recovery, and what do ya know? We show up at 5:30 pm (not even having been home yet) and they only have one of his two meds! The one they have? It’s not even ready yet at almost 6pm! And the manager isn’t very good at dealing with complaints from our interaction clearly. If you said it would be ready by noon, have it ready by noon!

Do NOT, and I repeat DO NOT use Hy Vee pharmacy if you have an acute condition that requires medication. They have pretty much outsourced all of their medication fills to an off-site (3rd party?) fulfillment operation. It can take up to 5 days to get a prescription filled without direct intervention by the customer. I totally get that model for maintenance med refills but for first prescription it’s darn near malpractice. If you need a medication for something acute, make sure you call right after prescription is sent to tell them to fill in store and not send offsite. Could honestly make a huge difference in someone’s medical outcome.

I can hardly ever get anyone on the phone, the drive up is always a long wait, and they have yet to send me a text or update in the app when a prescription is ready. I’ve been asking to get this fixed for 4 months. I gave up asking.
