I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon and got a 2 scoop cup of coffee heath. The girls behind the counter were very nice and gave me a sample no problem when I asked. The 2 scoops were just over $7. The place was cute, had a decent amount of seating but very cool that they had small child seating as well. The ice cream was good, not overly heavy on the coffee flavoring. The heath was good though I personally wished there was a bit more as I did have quite a few bites without any real heath in it. It seemed pretty busy for a chilly and windy day but no one really waited in line for service. I would say check it if you are in the area. It's good ice cream with nice friendly staff.

Thank you for having a Gluten free menu! My daughter LOVES ice cream and has been missing eating cones. She says it's the best waffle cone ever.The non gf waffle cone was so delicious, and all the ice cream was SO good. We will definitely be making the drive from Johnston often!

Excellent ice cream shop! We were so glad to visit. We came here on a Friday night; there were a few people in line, but things moved quickly. We decided to get the ice cream flight, so that we could try several flavors. All were good--some particularly so. There are also pre-made flights, cakes, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream pints for purchase in the freezers. This place is definitely worth visiting!

Delicious ice cream flavors, both classic and creative! The store itself has seating (even special seating for kids) and places to actually enjoy the ice cream. Staff is friendly and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner who has a passion for community as well as ice cream!

Great experience. Both employees were friendly & welcoming. The young man at the counter was polite and helpful. He recommended his top 2 favorites & allowed me to try some flavors. I couldn't decide between the raspberry chip & black raspberry Oreo, so he suggested a split cup - what a deal! I can't wait to go back and try more of the rotating flavors. Get in your vehicle and get there as quickly as you can - this place is a gem!Dietary restrictions: It appeared they could accommodate food allergies. Each flavor was clearly marked if it did accommodate.

The best dairy free ice cream I’ve ever found at an ice cream shop in Iowa! Every flavor I’ve had had been scrumptious and the options for vegan ice cream go way beyond Dole Whip and the lemon sorbet you’ll find at most places. Flavors change daily but they post on Instagram every day. There has also been at least 1 GF & DF flavor every time I’ve been. I had the GF/DF waffle cone today for the first time and it did take about 10 minutes to make from scratch, but was delicious once I got it. 10/10 recommend for people with special diets.

This is some of the best vegan ice cream I have had. Creamy, with a great texture. The dark chocolate raspberry was phenomenal. I also really enjoyed the hints of cinnamon in the fresh cones.

Love this place! Ever since I was told to go dairy free, I kissed ice cream goodbye. However Home Sweet Cone has brought joy in my life again and it's one of the few, if not the only ice cream place in the DSM Metro, that has dairy free ice cream. And not just any dairy free ice cream you can find at Hy-Vee. This ice cream is REALLY yummy! I stopped buying the SO Delicious brand and instead go to HSC when I'm craving ice cream. What's even better, they have listened to their customers and now have a smaller size cup (golf ball size) than their regular 'small' size cups... probably because they're very generous with their scoops😜The only suggestion is to change their spoons. Their spoons are more hollow than your average spoon, so your lips have a bit of trouble getting all that ice cream goodness from the bottom of the spoon. Otherwise, no complaints. I've enjoyed their dairy free raspberry, "butter"scotch, pumpkin Oreo and salted caramel flavors 🤤 My kids are not dairy free. They tend to order the cotton candy, Butterfinger and Cookie Monster flavors a lot. So yes, this place has our business for sure😋Dietary restrictions: Dairy, vegan and gluten free optionsKid-friendliness: HSC has little tables for toddlers- kindergarten aged kids and regular sized tables for adults and bigger kids.

This was me and my families first time at this place. We came around 8:20-8:30 Tuesday, March 12th. Upon walking inside the lady that served us turned and gave us a dirty look after previously smiling at the customers she was finishing up with. After she got done with them she asked what we wanted in the rudest way possible and I asked for more time to look. Not even a minute late she rushes us to order. We started to order and she was very short with us and treated us like imbeciles. The first person in our group got two scoops on a cone (which I have to admit were the best size/ price ratio i’ve ever seen) but when she got to mine I asked for two scoops in a cup which then she very bluntly and rudely said they were out of one of the flavors I asked for. Which I understand but she gave me no time to look for a replacement flavor, then proceeded to give me one scoop in my cup and we still got charged with two scoops. The entire experience was very unpleasant and I wouldn’t recommend coming to this location to anyone nor myself again. The little lady who served us had blonde hair in a ponytail with a fake tan.

I made a special trip to Waukee to try Home Sweet Cone because they make their own ice cream and wafflecones. The store smells amazing, they offer flavor samples, and the ice cream is rich and flavorful. All the folks working behind the counter were friendly and helpful. They also offer several non-dairy and gluten-free options. I can't wait to come back!

Well Home Sweet Cone, Iowa!Delicious homemade ice cream that brings back some great childhood memories.Visited in a Friday night and it was packed!So many flavors to choose from!I ordered the vegan strawberry in a waffle bowl and Mr W ordered a salted Oreo milkshake with Heath bar blended in.Total came to $14.xx before gratuity.Shake was a 12oz cup. And my ONE scoop was huge.Very satisfying. Everything tasted phenomenal.I appreciated the plant based/vegan options. There was vegan strawberry and vegan Oreo. And cones were vegan.Service was ok.There were young workers and it was late. I could tell they wanted to go home and their hearts were not into serving customers anymore as it was getting close to closing time. They still maintained composure and served everyone.Shop decor was minimalistic and reflected a modern farmhouse feel.For seating there were: small kids’ tables and seats, bar height tables near windows and a few tables and chairs.Seating was limited when it was packed.Shop felt small when every table was full and a line all the way to the door.Overall I highly recommend a visit to Home Sweet Cone. Their ice cream is one of a kind in the Waukee area.

You should go here and you should eat aaallll the ice cream. You can ignore any reviews that suggest otherwise. It’s the best ice cream in the Des Moines metro and something our city has needed for YEARS.For your reading pleasure, here are 5 reasons why you should come (and come often):1) Locally owned, locally made. They make their own ice cream. They don’t buy pre-packaged tubs and resell it at a discount. This is legit stuff made fresh for you.2) The flavor options are incredible. So many flavors. Such diversity. It’ll be months before I can taste test them all (yes, I will).3) They have tons of gluten free flavors and (I think) dairy free options.4) You can have your ice cream in a bowl, cone, waffle cone, waffle bowl, or with freshly baked cookies and brownies.5) negative reviews about poor taste are insane. Negative reviews about bad hours are due to changes in the first few weeks of opening. Double check social media or call before going and you’ll be in great hands 🍨

Delicious! We were craving ice cream on our way home from Des Moines so I searched for a small shop and found Home Sweet Cone. It was a bit out of our way, but I'd go again! I had a single scoop in a waffle cone and my husband had a double scoop in a waffle bowl. We were both SERIOUSLY impressed. The ice cream and the cone/bowl were great. I was debating between a single and a double so the employee told me he'd put a single in so I could see how big it was and then decide and I was really glad I hadn't ordered a double 😂.Two teens were working and they were friendly and happy to help us.

I would give this ten stars if I could! The staff were super friendly and patiently waited while I sampled several flavors before settling on the decadent dark chocolate raspberry and the refreshing mint Oreo! Both ice creams were jam packed with flavor and made only better by the deliciously crunchy homemade waffle cone! Definitely worth the wait and the five hour drive!

The homemade ice cream was rich and really smooth! Scoops were also pretty decently sized. This is definitely a place I'll return to in the future. For my first time here, I shared a cup with my partner of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Gooey Butter Cake, and Strawberry. All were delicious!

When I tell you the lemon Oreo ice cream in a waffle bowl with caramel topping is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I can't think of what the other Oreo ice cream was but the lemon left an unforgettable impression. I'm praying they'll come up with a gluten free lemon Oreo one because the way my diet is setup I'll be 600lbs because I want to eat this every single day! 🤣🤣🤣

I love this ice cream shop! I’ve never had a bad flavor and I’ve rented their ice cream cart for a private event — every single person raves about it and we only had four flavor options! Always look forward to new flavors to try. My toddlers are obsessed as well! Salted Oreo is hands down my favorite and it’s vegan!

We absolutely LOVE Home Sweet Cone! Everything from the flavor selection to the friendly service to the ice cream cakes to the best vegan ice cream ever - it all keeps us coming back again and again. It's definitely worth waiting in line for. And the ice cream flight is an amazing value if you want multiple flavors and have people to share it with. (Or room in your freezer for leftovers!)

I have stopped in twice and have been thrilled each time. The Banana Cream Pie was so delicious with rich flavor! Most recently I had the white chocolate peppermint that exceeded my expectations. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more, but certainly will continue to stop when in the area!
