This animal shelter is amazing and so clean. I have taken students here from Lincoln and Stewart Elementary. They always welcome us with warm hearts and open arms. The students learn so much from interacting with the animals.

Update 11/23/19 - I have had Cooper a little over a year now and he is the best dog and has come so far! I am so thankful to have him in my life and i just posted another picture of him from his birthday yesterday! Hes the one wearing the striped party hat! Getting cooper was the best decision i have ever made! He is my everything and has brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. He is so spoiled and even has his own toy box! Yesterday i made him homemade doggy carrot/pumpkin cupcakes with peanut butter frosting for his birthday! He loved them! Hes 5 now!If you are thinking about adopting a dog but arent sure.. i want you to know this: There is no better love, than the love of a happy rescue dog that knows he has finally found his forever home with you.Please adopt! You wont be disappointed!I drove two hours to this shelter to adopt my dog. Very friendly staff and clean building. I've never seen shelter cats so well taken care of! The cats I've seen at other shelters were in horrible conditions. But this place really goes above and beyond for their cats. This shelter has a nice fenced yard/play area for dogs you want to see. You can spend time with a dog you visit before making the decision to adopt. They weren't pushy and didn't rush.They were speedy on reviewing and accepting my application and we're happy to hold the dog I was interested in for a short time while I made the long drive. I highly recommend this place. Cooper is doing well and is in a happy forever home now. If I ever get a second dog, driving the two hours to this shelter wouldn't be an issue.

Adopted a young tortoiseshell shorthair from Paws and More on February 28th. We named her Bentley and she is a joy to have in our household. She gets along with our 8 year old dog and is very friendly with all members in our home. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the animals while we were searching and making our decision.We are very pleased with Paws and More and our new kitten.I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new fur baby to love.

Super nice staff who work here. Love going in and playing with the cats and dogs! All of them are super sweet! The staff takes good care of the animals here and also of the community. Best animal shelter I've ever seen and been into!

The staff was great and had real concern for the animals. We adopted a Jack Russell, to go with the Am Staff that my roommate adopted from them. They even remember her dog from his time with them. At least two other dogs went to new homes the same day with a 4th dog lined up to go to home after she is fixed. Great job Paws and More, a true asset to the community. Please remember even if you're not looking for a pet, it's still a great place to donate to.

Friendly staff, very knowledgeable about the animals. We just adopted a fantastic kitty. Loved that you can play with the cats in the actual group kennel. Much more natural setting than putting you in a sterile room one on one. You can watch how they interact with other cats as well as humans. This organization does a great job of caring for their animals.

We adopted two kittens from here and the staff were all helpful during the process. They explained all of their medical history and even showed us how to trim their nails before we left. Thank you for everything you do for the animals!!!

This shelter's our families favorite. We have adopted several of our furry family members from here. The staff's friendly and helpful, the animals are treated with respect, the areas where they are waiting for their forever homes are very clean and comfy. At anytime the shelter's open, you can see and hold the pets. Information about each of them are on the rooms. Super place!!! We drive over 1hr to go there. Please help by adopting and donating!!!

Love them for the work they do, the love they show all the critters and the care that goes with it. The staff is the best & are there because they WANT TO THERE, not because "it's a job". The director Amber, really knows her position and continues to look for ways of supporting the shelter with fund raisers of all sorts.I personally do volunteer work there as I do transporting critters to & from vet appts and run any errands that may be needed done...and I LOVE IT!!!!Know that each & every animal that comes thru their doors is a furchild in need of a family who they can love and be loved ffection & structure. Please stop by and visit them, you'll be glad you did!!

Stay away from this place. They threat volunteers like trash. The director Amber stole an animal cage from me. Refuse to return it. Refuse to pay for it.

I adopted cornbread from this shelter. He is the most loving wonderful kitty ♡ they helped me find the perfect addition to our already large family, we've got 3 boys and 2 labs. I wasn't sure if any cat would enjoy my jungle but cornbread enjoys all of it ♡

The cleanest, friendliest most humane shelters I have ever visited. Allowing visitors to get right in with the cats/kittens in the kenal/cage was a real treat.Don't know what the price for adoption is, but it's where I would go!

We wanted to adopt a kitten at Petco in Marion. Staff at Petco told us to call the Marion volunteer and she was great about coming in so we could get the kitten. Called and left a message without response all Saturday. We tried a few times and finally sent an email trying to elicit a response. We went back to Petco Saturday night hoping we’d see her or get a different number to call. Petco staff told us that she gets calls all the time with people trying to adopt a cat so she keeps her phone off. Sunday morning, I got an email from her about the kitten. No statement about several applications or any indication of us not being allowed to adopt. Her last sentence was something about seeing us that day. Went to Cedar Rapids so she wouldn’t have to wait for us to get there. Her phone was still off of course. After a few hours of shopping, we went to Petco and were told she was there prior to the store opening and missed the adoption event she had scheduled. She didn’t communicate with us until via email Monday morning to let us know there were 3 applications and she went with the first one handed into her. It was an absolute awful experience. Her lack of communication is horrendous. I pity any animal left there. Staff also told us the cats don’t get to be outside their cages due to one cat getting loose in the store. Very sad!

We brought in a kitten found by Riverside had no tags no nothing (chip) we decided to name it BEAR and by the time we got there he was responding to the name. Well as soon as we get there his name was IMMEDIATELY changed!!! Even though we explained he was responding to BEAR. Soooo....idk what else to say I guys unless don't take a abandoned cat or dog here just to have it renamed. Otherwise an ok place.

This shelter is very clean and the staff are super helpful and nice! I gave my number and email address and they did not SPAM or take advantage of either. I am not sure if the other review about SPAM is accurate as I have had many acquaintances go to this shelter and provide their information and all were very happy and said their private information and email was respected.
