Im usually met with rude attitude, thats ok, I can deal with that. But yesterday, the same short guy with the beard mocked me as I walked away. I wont be back. Ill get my gas at Caseys and food from walmart from now on. RUDE EMPLOYEES.

Beer selection is not great, and prices in general are high. Make your way to riverfront hyvee in Iowa city if you can.

Service was cheerful- not the issue.Washington HYVEECame in hopes of a good breakfast. Not at all.Bacon so cooked it cracked apartEggs drenched in Cooking OilBread 2 small piecesTaters pretty tasty but oilyBy must have changed the food brands they use in their kitchen- what a let down.Cook knew the bacon was completely burned and served it anyway. She did make me new bacon after requested. New bacon dripping in grease. My Mom showed me how to make bacon. Put in a paper towel right out of the pan. See picturesI ate a breakfast sandwich here earlier in the week from the hot shelf. It tasted terrible. Like it was from a different day or been there for several hours. Sale signs are somewhat deceiving because you need to read the fine print. $3.99 but you need to buy 3! Otherwise it is >$5.

Had deli 8 piece chicken on sale and found out it's only available when the deli is open. The deli closes at 2pm. Some of your custom work for a living and cannot be out there before 2. Don't advertise products if they are not going to be available.

(Keep in mind that this is my first trip to Iowa and I'm only here for memorial day) that being said, The service was awful and gloomy, the only person that seemed to actually know what they were doing and went out of their way was a young man named Nik B I believe. He's soley the only reason I'd even consider coming back as a customer to this location. The others could learn a thing or two.

I've grown up with Hy Vee being the main grocery store and pharmacy for my family and continue to go there. The employees are polite and helpful. I do miss the 24 hour open but understand. Great place to purchase special occasion cakes and treats for events.

Update 4/11/23 removed one star due to most of their checkouts have been changed to self checkouts.Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean store. Good selection for a small town shop. Pharmacy was good with helping me get my prescriptions switched over.

Unimaginable gas from the take and cook meal I bought for lunch. Once my gas filled balloon of a belly deflated, I was aight. The whole time at work, I had to point my rear towards the outside door. I don't mind the self checkouts, I'm not a people person. Certainly no helpful smile in every isle, but the people who are there need to learn life-saving measures in case of gas. Delicious food. 5 outta 5.

Dont really care for the checking out experience was very difficult and the organization of their isles wasnt up to my satisfaction. Also couldn't find alot of things like red bull and a few other items I always buy. Rather go back to the small town dollar general in the future.

No bakery, just pre-packaged. No floral services, just pre-packaged. No deli service in evening anymore. Food selection in general is not there. Now, all self-checkouts? A friend said she was told she doesn't need to come back if she doesn't like it. Hy-Vee keeps saying the new checkouts won't cost any jobs. Wrong! At least, in this store. There are still those of us who don't use self-checkouts and this attitude of take it or leave it will result in more loss for this store. They are hastening their own closure. I'm not shopping there anymore. Not unless they come to their senses.

Hy-vee has made the choice to go with all self serve registers at this small town location. From a business point I understand the transition of a few of them. To change all of them over was a bad idea. I drive there because it is a smaller location and always had good service. I go to Hy-Vee (often paying a bit more) because of the opportunity given to young people. While there seems to be employee issues elsewhere this smaller farm town always seemed well staffed with a diverse age group including teens willing to work. I am a person that will wait in a line to allow a person to help me as I appreciate they came to work, by letting them help me I am helping them. Again I understand the business side of the decision. For me I will take my business to a location that offers more opportunities to work, this Hy-vee is no longer my first choice.

They removed all help and expect you to self check out. I have absolutely no interest inlearning self check out nor am I paid too. I couldn't get any employees to help me or find anyone at the meat counter. Very impersonal and ridiculous. This is taking people's jobs and I refuse participate.

I just went into the store in Washington IA today. Overnight they changed the cash registers from regular ones too every single one being self check out. If I wanted to check myself out, I would go to Walmart. Fareway here I come for all my shopping now. At least I get help there.

The store is very clean and the employees are very pleasant and helpful. The meat department is a coin flip: you either get amazing butterfly pork chops or the bacon wrapped sirloin filet is one of the most chewy and disgusting pieces of meat I have eaten in my adult life. I recently purchased blueberries there and they were 50% starting to mold on the stem area. They have a good selection. But everything there is overpriced, and not just marginally either. I would not go there unless it’s absolutely necessary and then I would try to get them to price match so it’s reasonably priced.

Most of my life this was the premier grocery store in Washington Iowa. Now they've cut out the bakery, the meat department's there about 15 minutes a day, and the deli's inedible. The grocery selection has been cut back to 90% Hy-Vee generic and they've cut back their hours. I doubt I ever stepped foot in there again

HyVee gas station was the worse experience we gave ever had. Our refill coffee rang up at $.99 but the total for 2 was $3.71. Out coffee punch card was refused the punches. Not going there again. The actual store was fine

You know I like to shop local, but the Washington HyVee is sorely lacking. They no longer have a full meat counter, have cut their deli way back, and get this there customer service counter isn't open past 6 o'clock at not. Guess I will start doing all my Washington shopping at Fareway.

The store is clean, with polite and helpful staff. This location has good sales on fresh meat on a semi-regular basis, along with frequent in-store only deals. The pharmacy is convenient, although expect long lines for picking up prescriptions. There is a restaurant area, although much more limited in food selection than larger Hy-Vee's. Overall, it covers the basics for most people, but lacks some of the specialized departments found in larger Hy-Vee's.
