I took my goldens here for veterinary care (because it was close to home) and I was referred to come here for veterinary care. However, it is very, very, VERY expensive. It cost a arm and leg for basic shots, nail trims, plus in office visit, and they add on more to the bill and don't listen. They pressure you to do what they want you to do (not with what you want to do). I took my new golden retriever puppy here when he ingested a baby bel cheese wax and had to have emergency surgery last summer. Doctor Timmerman wanted 400$ upfront or she wouldn't do the surgery. My golden (now 1 year old) stopped eating and drinking water on Cinco de mayo (this past May of this year) and had the SAME exploratory surgery at Monticello Veterinary Clinic and they took him back right away. They didn't charge me or ask me for a hefty amount of money upfront before they could the surgery. They charged me AFTER he was out of surgery of a flat 400$!!! NOT one thousand and thirty four dollars as Vinton - Urbana Hospital did. I felt like Vinton - Urbana hospital cared more about the $$ and not helping my distressed puppy. Doctor Timmerman asks for 50-60$ for in office visit (Monticello Veterinary Clinic only charges 25$ for in office visit). Vinton - Urbana hospital doesn't accept checks, just cash, credit cards, and credit care only. The staff are friendly, but it's NOT worth it for the prices she charges. I took my business elsewhere and now take my 1 year old golden to the Monticello Veterinary Clinic (where it's more affordable and doesn't break the bank). They also accept checks for payment as well as cash and credit cards. That's a huge plus for me. It saves me thousands of money too!! Monticello Veterinary Clinic is totally worth it and worth the drive.

Another person I know had an issue here however, I contacted them about my Husky. I was first sent someone else's estimate. It took 3 calls and a week to get the proper estimate, which was twice everyone else

The Vinton Urbana Vet Clinic is the BEST! Staff is great with our cats (6 of them) and dogs (4 of them) and Dr. Alice Timmerman is knowledgeable and so gentle with our 'furbabies'. I would HIGHLY recommend this Connie for the care of your animals!!!!

The people at this place go out of their way to make you, and most importantly your beloved pet, as comfortable as possible. My Luna is a rescue, and very distrustful of people she doesnt know. The Vets and their Techs are very tuned into your babies body language. I have used their services twice since moving back to IA from SC. They are the best in the area in my opinion!

Took my cat here on Friday 9/23. He has a history of crystals in his urine and blockages. Was told he was practically fine, prescribed him more gabapentin and checked his kidneys. Charged me $200 dollars for it. Ended up having to take him to another vet the following Monday to where he is now under surveillance and is catheterized because his kidneys were hard and there was blood. Not even a day after the appointment with Vinton-Urbana he started hiding, became lethargic and started hissing/growling at nothing. I took him here to prevent this. I'm sure they are nice people, but they clearly did not do their job well enough.

I have brought my dog Oliver here since we got him almost 3 years ago! Great staff, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Very friendly and they all truly love what they do. Would recommend to new pet owners or someone looking to find a new vet!

The compassion, and love givin was felt, and all the staff worked hard to pull a bleek situation of this sweet pup Lou Lou, to have a second chance.After emergency surgery. And called to make sure her healing was going well. And helped with my concerns. I couldn't of asked for more. Ty to Dr. ABBOTT you are a amazing veterinarian. Im very greatful for all the amazing team work, filled with compassion and hard work.

Absolutely fantastic veterinarians, staff and facility! Drs Timmerman and Abbott & the staff are kind, knowledgeable and clearly put the animals’ need above all else, which is demonstrated through their practices and humane policies. We are fortunate to have this clinic in Vinton!

Our Puggle is treated very well here. He is now 8 months old. He is a very nervous pup when it comes to new places. The first time I took him here, they gave him vaccination. At home, he was too nervous for me to cut his toe nails. They had to put him under to do them. Second time he had another shot, which he did great. Just a couple of weeks ago he was neutered, checked for heart worms, and given the 2nd lepo shot. They did such a wonderful job! The day after his surgery he acted like nothing happened. Thank you to their whole team!

We have been coming to this clinic since moving to Benton County 2.5 yrs. ago and couldn't be more pleased. Scheduling was easy, they accept Care Credit which helps with unexpected and costly visits. Never pushy to buy their products. Always right on diagnosis. The Dr. also donates to help with feral cat issues in our area. a big plus

Dr. Timmerman and her team have taken care of our animals for almost 10 years (or as long as they've been open). They've taken great care of our cats and dogs even when we lost one of our cats to age.

Affordable, friendly, and thoughtful. They gave us all the time we needed to grieve and be with our dog when it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. They even gave us a clay pawprint for free which was unexpected but meant a lot to us.

I am very disappointed with the professionalism provided by the staff at the Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital. If your pet is having a medical emergency, I cannot stress enough, skip calling this vet.The BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cedar Rapids is amazing and they have saved multiple family pets. It may be a bit further to drive, but the care is excellent and the staff is kind and responsive to your needs.
