I absolutely love Better Together! This is the best shelter ever. I would never go anywhere else to get a cat! Taylor and Peyton have such huge hearts and care for each cat they take in! I know they always wish they could take in more! I got my two kittens there 4 years ago. They are happy, healthy and loving cats! I love going to Vinton and snuggling the cats. Our family absolutely loves and adores Better Together. We adopted three beautiful females from them and I couldn’t be more impressed with the love and care they take for each of these animals. You can tell they try really hard to find the best fit and family for every cat and don’t just adopt out these babies to anyone. Such an amazing rescue shelter, I got my sweet little Pixel from them! You can tell they truly care about all of the cats that come their way, (i mean just look at their social media!) While my kitten (fka Rollins) didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with them, it was clear that they were selective on who they pick for their kitties and I was ever so gratefully allowed to adopt her from them. I do recommend everyone looking here, if wanting to adopt a cat or helping a shelter out. I know as soon as I am able to I plan to give back and hopefully get to adopt another kitty in the near future. :)

This is truly a wonderful organization that cares deeply for all animals, not just the cats within their walls. They have taken in very shy and timid cats and socialized them with great love and patience until they are comfortable enough with humans to feel safe in choosing a forever home. They care for sick cats until they are well enough to be made available for adoption.I have seen what they do in person during a visit and I am beyond impressed with the compassion and love shown by Peyton and Taylor and all their volunteers!!

I recently adopted Dani (female kitten), now Salem, and Chessie (female 2yr) from Better Together Animal Rescue. I was impressed with their rescue. I could really feel the heart and soul put into all of the cats to help them thrive and succeed. They were so generous with kitty blankets, treats, and food samples to help the cats transition from the shelter to their new forever home.

Really weird way to deal with customers. They have no phone number anywhere, and you can't even go inside to see the cats. The owners are gone all day, leaving the cats to their own devices.This is more of a cat collector place, where you can see the animals in the window, but that's literally it.

I am new to the BT family however, I have been following them on FB and watching those sweet kitties greet me in the window with such enthusiasm and love every time I stopped by. I just had to see for myself what Better Together was all about. After sponsoring several kitties I decided it was time to do more, to help more and it sure didn't take long for me to fall in love with ALL the critters in their care. I was so amazed at how well Better Together and their volunteers knew each and every personality of every one of those sweet babies. They take in cats of all ages that no one else wanted, the difficult to place kitties. They are patient and nurture the cats that others would consider feral and make them melt in your arms. They give extra love to the shy ones and take care of the sick babies, making them stronger, healthier, and ready to adopt. In fact, I was so impressed with them and their loving kitties that I just couldn't resist any longer...after saying no more cats for several years...we adopted our sweet Lucy from BT in the fall. She is healthy, playful, loving, and full of sass! Can't imagine her not being a part of our family and we are so thankful that BT helped find the purfect girl for our family!! When I contacted them after my kittens had been missing less than a day, she rudely let me know I was being charged $50 to pick them up. I informed her that kittens had to have been stolen off our property, she refused to identify the person. Then she upped the amount. $25/kitten/day. $50 for last night, $50 for today. $100 I didnt have, to pay for kittens i had just brought home 4 days earlier. She blocks me on messenger, the only way to contact them. Jim contacts them and tells them that we will pay. We go there to talk to them because we dont have that kind of money, the cops get called (before I even have arrived, so it was not in response to my behavior like they are saying). The next day its $150. Jim attempted to make arrangements with them, they stopped reading his messages. A friend contacts them to pay the fee for me. They say cash only. I make arangements and get cash. No one will answer the door. I go to the cops a block away. The owner lied to the cops saying they made prior arrangements with Jim to meet at 630. And tell me he needs to wear a mask and a cat carrier is REQUIRED, and I'm not welcome in their building. I finally meet up with Jim around 6 and he knows nothing about it. We dont have a cat carrier, so he scrambles to find one and got down there around 6:50. He knocked for awhile and went back home to use the wifi to message them. They don't respond to any messages from him so he came back to the lot where we stay some nights and got me. I go down there and call dispatch asking to speak with the officer I spoke to earlier. Dispatch rudely informs me they were there from 630 to 647. The cops show up and inform me that since they had made arrangements with me twice that the kittens now belong to them. I flipped out!! This is ridiculous!! Regrettably, I dont have any idea what all I said. Ive been told I was racially offensive and I feel terrible about it. Im not sure I kind of blacked out and exploded!! I remember it all of a sudden being hard to breath and I remember worrying I was having a heart attack. WHAT is WRONG with these people?!?! They extorted me for ransom, and then backed out when I could pay. This is shady business practice and it makes me question what else they have gotten away with!! Now they act like innocent victims and make me the bad guy!! Those kittens mean the world to me and I planned to register them as emotional support animals. We only had them 4 days!!
