Please listen to the reviews! The pictures on the website look great but in reality they had to have been taken decades ago. The ceiling was sagging so bad it was cracked down the middle. The beds were covered in hair and stains. When we asked for the beds to be cleaned they offered extra sheets up to the room. The toilets in one room didn't stop running and one in the other didn't flush. We had water pouring out of the faucets and handles any time you turned it on. There were plenty of other factors however we didn't find any bugs so that is the plus! I highly recommend you spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. It was ridiculous how bad it was.

Not sure what some reviewers were expecting for $50/night, I was personally IMPRESSED for the price I paid. Room was clean. Bathroom clean. Temp set at 70. No odor whatsoever. Clean (maybe new) towels. Mattress was not Summerfield Hyatt but newer & comfortable. Linens were of some quality. No complaints! Also a mini frig, microwave & plenty of channels to browse. Plus continental breakfast. For 50bucks...I'd recommend to any traveler. Ez freeway access. Several surrounding amenities...mcDs, dq, Casey's, and few others literally within a 2 block radius. I would stay again if travels bring about.

Do not recommend this hotel. Definitely not worth $100 a night. Whole place smells musty. Room was damp. Your clothes and the bedding had a dampness. Breakfast was cereal. Coffee was disgusting. Had to move rooms as no light in bathroom. We stayed 2 nights and had no cleaning service. Had to ask for more toilet paper and fresh towels. Very disappointed. Only positive was location, but I'd rather stay further away than sleep here again. Mold in tiles of bathroom. They say in previous reviews these issues were addressed. Have a hard time believing this.

Check in was super fast owner/manager was very welcoming. Only issues were I asked for a non smoking room and there were cigarette burn holes all over the comforter as well as hairs in the bathtub. Pet friendly places are hard to find so I appreciated that.

This was worse than my one bad bed bugs stay at another hotel. This is my first hotel review. The hot water was stuck on. There was a hole in the wall. Hair was on the sink. I didn't have enough blankets in a cold room that arrived in late at night. When I woke up from a freezing night, all they had was cereal (nothing else but coffee for breakfast) and there was no milk! I hope for the good of humanity this place goes put of business asap. Spare yourself!

I had a confirmed reservation that was held by credit card for August 18. The credit card is one that only lives on my phone and there's no physical cards at all. When I got there a little after 11pm and tried to check in they would not use that as a form of payment and refused to accept that. I was able to find another room in Ames last minute but it was quite a bit more expensive when all I really wanted was a place to sleep while visiting family.

I've actually stayed here several times within the past 15 years. It is on the way to my roommates Mom's and if she is tired and can't drive through, this is where she tries to stop. They are very polite here and it's quiet and very comfortable. I always get great sleep here. This was my last visit here because I'm not able to ride that long in the car to make that trip any more. I was in excruciating pain from riding in the car when we stopped and yet it was so comfortable I still slept like a baby. Thank you Super 8, I'm already miss being able to take those trips and staying at such a restful place.

We weren't planning on stopping, but we hit a bad storm & we saw the welcoming sign of the Super 8, so we stopped. Check in was fast, rates were very good, the rooms were spotless, the bed's very comfortable & when we started to go into the building, we parked next to a group of strong men having a mini-tailgate in the parking lot. They were so nice, they opened the security door for us grandma' s to help us in. We were very happy with the room & glad that we stopped.

Booked a king bed NON SMOKING and was put into a smoking room. Went and talked to the front desk didn't bother to do anything about it. Its 2021 I think smoking in rooms should be a thing from the past. It just downgrades the quality of your hotel. Burn holes in the bedding and carpet, dirty bathroom just felt gross even trying to sleep there. Window was just covered in nicotine absolutely disgusting. Room just stunk awful like cigarettes and mold. I've stayed here before in a room that was non smoking room was ok I think this hotel would have ALOT more potential if they just get rid of smoking rooms. There was people that had smoking rooms that had the kindliness to even smoke outside of your hotel. I'm not one to write reviews but this one did it. Definitely not coming back.

Super Nice Staff! We didn't even stay here. Pulled up thinking this is were we had reservations but no. Unfortunately, when I pulled out to leave I hit the front of their building! It was bad. The Staff there all came out and asked if I was okay. I'm fine but your building is not. I felt so bad. All I could do was apologize. Again I'm so sorry. They kept saying it's no big deal we are glad your okay. That honestly made the whole situation better. Thank you for all your hospitality and kindness. I truly appreciated it.

I have two kids with me, and the desk clerk was very nice. He got me a room close to the door on the first floor. It was so easy to unload my car with the kids. Room was clean and cool. I would stay here again on my travels.

Made a reservation for a five night stay. Confirmed that this was a pet friendly hotel and I could bring my cats. Received a confirmation of reservation by email and text. Showed up to check in and was told very rudely rhat there was no reservation under my name. Owner would not look and my email and text confirmations then screamed at me for bringing my cats and said I was not allowed to stay. Avoid this place and the rude, racist owner.

Never again. After a very long drive we needed a place to rest. Area hotels/motels that accept pets were all booked. The smell (odor) of Pine Sol or some other type cleaner, is so over powering in this room. The carpet is filthy. Our very first experience at a Super 8 and most definitely will be the last. I would rate this a single star. And that is being very generous. A property not kept up at any level. Will have to skip showers in the morning

Before arriving I called and reserved 2 rooms. I asked how many rooms they had available since we had a few more people in need as well. The nice lady on the phone said “don’t worry, we have plenty of rooms, come on in and your friends can get the same rate of $73 including tax.” The lady on the phone also stated that CLC cards were accepted. Once we arrived at the hotel a very rude man working the front desk immediately raised his voice to us before he knew what we needed. We explained that we had reserved 2 rooms but need a few more at the same rate. He said “that’s not our rate. It’s $70+tax” Before we could fully explain what the lady on the phone told us, he screamed at us stating that “there’s no lady that works here!” After a few loud exchanges the rest of our group was told to leave the property immediately. We kept our 2 rooms since they were already paid for on our credit card. Once in the room, it smelled like it had been cleaned with dirty mop water and had an overbearing musty smell. NEVER AGAIN will Story City Iowa Super 8 do any business with me or my company.FYI: the rude clerk stated that they do not accept CLC cards

The thermostat didn't work very well. It was extremely hard to keep the room from becoming a furnace in the middle of winter. The toilet also felt like it was going to topple over every time it was sat on. The TV's cable was also really difficult to use. Clean room and cute decor though.

When I was pulling up to the hotel the owner was fighting with his wife outside a mini van. I go in he asked me in a rude way what do I want. Didn't even stay there he was so rude and racist. Don't waste your time. The hotel right next to it was cheaper and the lady there was super nice and had better rooms.

Horrible rude people, we had been involved in the accident on 35 south. Needed a place to stay as the storm was getting worse. We walked in and asked for a room the front desk clerk asked smoking or non smoking. We said smoking, he then said we don't have smoking room available, why would you ask if we wanted smoking if it's not available? ok that's fine..We will smoke outside. He said very rudely, how do I know you won't smoke it the room throwing his hands up in the air rolling his eyes. I was shocked he would treat us this way, knowing we had just been involved in the accident. He said if you smoke in the room I will charge $100. Now after the way he has just treated us, even if we go outside he would surely charge us anyways. Also the place was filthy, I could smell mold and whatever else was making the place smell disgusting. I would not recommend this place to anyone, go a block over and pay 30 more and have a clean safe place to stay, and they have a pool! To bad this rating you have to give 1 ☆ I would give it 0.

I give this hotel a huge thumbs down!! Myself and two other truck drivers went to book a double bed. The woman front desk clerk was very nice but once the guy came in and saw 3 African Americans he immediately got loud yelling out the price of 179! The lady said no that’s not the price and was trying to over talk him. We already established prices with the young lady! The guys have were giving me cash and i was transferring from my Apple Pay card then the guy yelled give me the card y’all don't have any money! We make very good money seeing that we work for OURSELVES!! He then yelled y’all get out y’all don't have money again. At this point we left because we knew the outcome for our kind wouldn’t be great. Food for thought... Never judge a book by its cover we bring in 6 figures a year and this was very disgusting the way we were treated horrible and unacceptable.. I do want to add the lady was awesome great costumer service and tried her best i applaud her thank you.

Gross, gross, gross. Because I work for a pest control company, I always check for bedbugs. In doing so, I pulled out the corners of the sheets/blankets and found shredded blanket ends with many, many holes in the blanket. The shredding of the blanket was also evident at the top of the bed where it would normally cover your shoulders. The room was overall dingy and had a feeling of uncleanliness. When I told the desk attendent I couldn't stay in a room like that, he didn't bat an eye and said o.k. he'd check me out. This may be a presumption, but it seemed like he gets this kind of reaction often. Otherwise, why not ask me what the problems were and offer to correct? I've had pleasant stays at Super 8's throughout the country, I'm hoping this was a one-off and that they get their act together. We ended up at the Americ-Inn in Ames which was lovely in every way for only $40 more for the night.

The smell was strange and pretty bad. The toilet leaked from the back and didn't flush properly, the bed didn't have a fitted sheet, the blanket was extremely old. However, the shower was powerful and that's important!
