I was blown away by the customer service of Hoover Hatchery! They answer their emails IMMEDIATELY! My chicks arrived healthy and happy and I didn’t loose a one out of 45 chicks. Two different shipments. I got Cinnamon Queens and Easter Eggers. I did not have the same luck with a shipment from another hatchery. This is the first time I have used Hoover and it will not be the last!!

Giving 5 stars for my experience so far!! I have read a lot of negativity so I will update this post in a week if necessary; if I have high death rates sickness ect, but so far all 50 chicks made it to me happy healthy alive and well! I couldn’t be more happy with the colour variations and variety I’m truly happy with my chicks, I also wanted to mention these are some of the most docile and calm friendly chicks I’ve ever gotten I’m pretty smitten with my chicks 🐥 customer service, ordering and shipping was also a breeze!

I've purchased on two separate occasions via TSCO. After reading the reviews I was slightly hesitant, but after receiving my chicks I am completely satisfied! My chicks arrived (all 20) live and healthy! It's been a week for my newest and 2 weeks for the others and all are doing well! I chose the assorted color layers and was giving a wide arrangement of various chicks! I will definitely be shopping with Hoover Hatchery again in the future!

I was nervous to order and ship to Ohio and made a few calls with questions.They were more than helpful and explained the shipping process.My chicks were hatched on a Monday and I picked them up Wednesday morning at our post office.They are healthy and happy.Would definitely purchase again.

I received 20 baby chicks , and lost some within 48 hours . They sent replacements and I received them the very next day. I would highly recommend Hoovers , and will be ordering from them again. Best of all, The little chicks are so adorable ☺️

First time ordering chicks to be shipped. They shipped mine from Iowa to NC and arrived within 36 hours in January no less. Hoover’s was extremely polite and their customer service is probably one of the best of any business I’ve found. Ordered 34 and all but one arrived healthy. It was weak and passed that night. They credited the amount for the one chick because they guarantee for the first 48 hours after you receive them.I highly recommend this business.

Been using Hoovers for years for our Cornish Cross Broilers, but this last batch of 100 we received there were around 50 dead on arrival. We even recommended them to friends and they had the same issue this last order. I’ve called customer service and emailed several times to no avail for several days and no response. This is a time sensitive issue that is getting no attention. Very disappointing and likely will source from a different hatchery in the future.

Order number #3985905Shipped 2/27/24 received 2/29First time buying chickens because being able to have a healthy organic steady supply of eggs is important in these times .Rhode island reds . Had to order 15 of them . I have a spare bathroom . They came in this ridiculously tiny box . 4 died within 48 hours they were so crammed in that box during shipment . The ones that died stopped huddling together at night and never opened their eyes . They developed blackened and distended intestines . The rest are fantastic, vibrant,robust and strong . I have a dedicated heater with digital thermometer . Unlimited access to chick feed and water of great quality.

First time customer, got two separate orders this spring. Ordered 10 Guineas through Tractor Supply, which arrived in 2 1/2 days via USPS. All healthy, and have survived two weeks so far. Second order directly from Hoover Hatchery, ordered 15 Australorps. These guys arrived within 36 hours of shipping, again, all healthy and active. I have already turned the Guineas out into the pen with my banties, will wait a few more days to turn out the Ausies. At this point, if I lose any birds, it can't be blamed on Hoover's Hatchery!

My chicks shipped on time and arrived in perfect condition. They have been active, eating and drinking with no issues. I ordered 4 breeds: Speckled Sussex, Dark Brahma, Crevecoeur, and Sapphire Splash Olive Egger, all female because my city does not allow roosters. The site was easy to navigate and the selection of chicks was one of the better I've seen. When I'm ready for more chicks, I will definitely order from Hoover Hatchery again!

I’ve bought many chickens from Hoover’s and it’s amazing how ALL of them survive the shipping process and are healthy chicks. I’ve had the opposite luck at Rural King that had only a 30% survival rate. Hoover’s customer service is great, one time I had to reschedule delivery and it was no problem at all. I also changed my mind on the breeds I wanted after ordering and when I contacted them they were totally cool with changing my order. Highly recommend Hoover’s Hatchery!

Update as of April 22, 2024I have changed from 3 to 5 stars. Hoover’s Hatchery responded to my emails with an apology, explanation and refund. They stated that they were sorry for the delay due to email issues on their end and that customer service was their highest priority, they also refunded the money for the dead chicks per their policy. I will definitely use Hoover’s Hatchery again!Old post…I ordered 20 mixed baby chicks that arrived 3 days of shipping later. They seemed ok (this is not our first time raising chickens, we have several years of experience).The following day (midday) we had 8 dead chicks. I took pictures and gave a solid rundown of our setup which was emailed to Hoover’s Hatchery (same setup we have used successfully several times over).Over two weeks went by with No response or refund (as stated on their web site they’ll get back to you and provide a refund within 48 hours of being in the customer’s care). I emailed again a few days ago and still “crickets”!I will Not be using this company again as their customer service is sub-par.

Ordered 10 assorted turkeys. Suppose to be a mix of broad breasted and heritage. There are 8 white and 2 bronze. I'm guessing they're all broad breasted, unless the 2 bronze are orlopp. There's only 2 heritage breeds listed in the description. It would be nice to know. All poults survived shipping, but they came from Wisconsin. There was an issue with the shipping. The post office contacted me saying they were sent to the wrong place. After reading reviews and seeing people weren't getting replies, I messaged on Facebook. The message has not been looked at but the company is actively posting on Facebook.

Ordered twenty chicks, ten Australorp, and ten Easter eggers. The USPS made the mistake of trying to send them directly to me, instead of leaving at the office for pick up. All in all only one of my chicks is lethargic and I feel I may lose. The other nineteen are absolutely stunning and very active. I ordered them through tractor supply I believe on Sunday evening, these babies started their journey on Wednesday afternoon and I found them with the driver and got them home this Friday at 1130. I was a tad concernedthere wasn't any heat source in the box but the chicks faired well . Thank you Hoover hatchery for my new feathered friends.

UPDATE: 27 DAYS LATERJust amazing that I had to show some pics of the healthy huge chicks. 27 days after their hatch date and I've got them off Purina Medicated Start & Grow Chick Feed. They are now free ranging and on meat chicken feed. I put the box that the 15 broiler mix (Royals) originally came in so you can compare AND the waterer is a 1 gallon milk jug - again for sizing.---------------------------I must admit - I was worried given the most recent reviews AND being notified that my chicks mailed Monday eve were arriving Friday! BUT never fear - they showed early today, Wed! 2 days = perfect.These are some of the finest, healthiest, chicks I've ever gotten so, I couldn't be more pleased! Being meat chicks, they've been eating and drinking ever since I unpacked them! The box used to ship them in was weather appropriate, chicks were all snuggled in together.Like many in the negative reviews, I called and emailed but was never able to reach anyone. However, given the horrific weather that disrupted business as usual, I knew it was better for them to focus on getting chicks shipped vs emailing me. If I had to pick one - I'd hope they were dealing with recovery. Thank you Hoover - I ordered through Tractor Supply.

I'm so heartbroken right now I've always wanted Easter Eggers and me and my husband ordered 10 chicks from here and I least thought a couple will die but all 10 of them arrived dead. They shipped them out on Monday evening and just arrived this Wednesday morning I even tried to pick them up sooner yesterday but wasn't allowed so I picked them up then they were delivered to a different post office before we were able to pick them up before delivered to our post office. I feared this was going to happen so we tried to get them sooner. We asked for a refund since I don't want to chance this heartbreak again. We will be going through a different hatchery. But I will say hoover was good at communicating with us and answered most of our questions. The only down fall is that they all died. Hopefully they will actually give us a refund.

This is my first time ordering through Hoover's, but I'm extremely impressed with their customer service! I had two chicks that didn't make it and Riley, the customer service rep, responded to my emails almost immediately and issued a refund for them. Thank you, Hoover's (and Riley)! How my new birds will lay/produce when they're older remains to be seen, but based on my experience so far, I would highly recommend Hoover's to anyone.

I ordered 15 chicks from Hoover Hatchery it took them 6 days to finally get delivered. 6 days of those babies to slowly die in a tiny box with no chance to survive. There was absolutely no follow up on Hoovers end with this shipment all I kept getting told is we work very closely with USPS and they will be delivering tomorrow. I spent all day Saturday trying to locate them at the USPS so I could at least try to pick them up myself to give them a chance. They should be made to ship these babies priority. They will tell you they do. But when they are only paying $6.95 shipping they aren’t. They don’t care if they make it or not. They just want your money. SO DISGUSTING!!! Do not order from Hoover Hatchery.

Working with Hoover hatchery this year has been great! We ordered 30 chicks from them through tractor supply… Unfortunately, the post office took an extra day and all the chicks were very healthy besides five baby chicks that unfortunately didn’t make it past 48 hours (probably because of the extra night at a post office). But Hoover hatchery customer service was excellent and very helpful. They replaced the chicks that did not make it. Will definitely be using them again!

First time to order chickens by mail. I ordered 30 birds and lost 5 birds within 48 hours. However, their wonderful customer service refunded my account for the 5 lost birds. Loved that I could choose a shipping date! Chicks arrived on schedule, and were delivered to my post office. I got a great color variety in my box, and the chicks all survived the trip. They are now two weeks old and doing great! Highly recommend Hoover Hatchery. I will be ordering again :)

I ordered 15 chicks (3 different kinds 5 of each) from Hoover's Hatchery. I ordered one day and received my birds two days later at my local post office. They all arrived healthy and it now has been five days and they are doing great. I'm in Washington and it has still been cool out and my birds are fine. I will order from Hoover's Hatchery again. I really like that they offer the shots to prevent diseases.

This is my second order from Hoovers Hatchery. Chicks are healthy and beautiful.I got Americanas, Cinnamon Queens, Light Brahmas, Levender Orphingtons and Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. These all are supposed to be hens.My first oder was 10 Dark Brahmas and 10 Sapphire Gems unsexed through Tractor Supply. 19 of them could reach to 3 months and 1 died in first week. Only 3 hens so far and 16 of them are roosters. So, this time I have decided to get all hens.#update10/03Just received another delivery. Healthy baby chicks. Added the video.

For anyone nervous about ordering, I wanted to share my experience. I was very nervous about ordering as I am in New Mexico, however, my 20 chicks arrived within 48 hours and the chicks were better than I expected. One of them was weak on arrival, I syringe fed her sugar water as instructed and within 24 hours, she was stable and strong. We did lose one chick but 1 out of 20 is pretty exceptional for traveling such a long distance. We normally lose more when purchasing from our local stores. I am grateful for the free shipping and definitely recommend this hatchery. Thank you Hoover's Hatchery for allowing us to get all the breeds we wanted. We will order again!

In 2020 I got an order from you that included Buff Orpington females.  I had a massive predator attack in 2021 and she was the only one to survive.  It is now fall of 2023 and she is still going, still giving me 6 eggs per week.  I just wanted to let you know how amazing she is, I call her Mama because she went broody this spring and I bought some chicks and stuck them under her and she raised all of them!   And still was giving me 4-5 eggs while brooding them.  This is Mama with some of the chicks she brooded, its blurry because she doesn't stand still!   And I am still getting 6 eggs a week from her at 3 years old.
