I’m giving this five stars because this store is great for what it is. This is not a store for fancy atmosphere or delightful shopping. This is a store where you can find unusual items at great prices and where you can get deli meat and cheese and sandwiches. It is a scratch and dent stores so do keep an eye on the expiration dates.

Bought rhubarb creme pie that is excellent. Also, got heavy duty extra large aluminum foil for 1.25, that's quite a bargain. However, my best deal of the day is a very thick nicely made wooden spoon for 95 cents. That spoon would cost $8.99 at any home store in Des Moines. Thank you J &L for a great lunch, tasty pie and an all around super shopping experience.

I personally love this store! They always have new things coming in. Fresh deli, ice cream, breakfast (which is yummy), all sorts of things! Their meat sales are wonderful even!I have been going there since these two took it over. Love the fact I can save money and help a small town business!I've sent all sorts of people there!

Definitely worth the drive! Prices 1/3 to 1/2 of what's available in Mt. Ayr. Plenty of selection, and their sales and clearance sections can't be beat! Follow them on Facebook for regular updates on what's on sale.Also, a deli, soft serve ice cream, and icees to round it all out.Overall, friendly people, great prices. Highly recommend!

You can always find something good there, like the seasoned bacon ends I bought. My granddaughter enjoyed a sundae.

Although it is a drive to Redding Iowa, you will not regret the trip. From spices to can goods to meats and cheeses, I'm able to get over $300 worth of groceries for under $120. It is worth the stop. They have a little bit of everything. I got an entire case of Chips Ahoy cookies for example for only $5.

Bought 2 pounds of fresh peaches today I should not have trusted the owner to pick and bag them. 6 of 8 peaches are bruised and/ or half rotten. Completely disappointed!!!! ☹️

Always love coming here. There are always downsides to discount items/products. They're amazing people and run a good store that sells cheap items.

They sell out of date food. You never know if you might get sick from expired foods.I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Food is up to 2 years old and they sell it for 3,/4s of the original price

raised prices and eliminated customer service. A little kid, maybe 6 or so was pricing stuff, but said he couldn't run the register.. cute kid... terrible help.
