I just shopped at Fareway in Perry, Iowa today. The ads for this week had a lot of items I use, & the sale prices were great - ie. fresh strawberries-2 1lb. Pks. $4, also fresh blueberries-same price. There was one item that was either sold out, or didn't arrive at the store. I asked if they were offering a substitute, & one of the cashier's gladly offered an equal substitute. Another cashier offered an explanation of a grouping of items in the sale ad that I had misunderstood. The guy who took my groceries to my vehicle was friendly, & chatted with me as he always does. Oh, I almost forgot, the meat department had a great sale on boneless pork chops, 8oz. Each for .99 each. They looked great, & the guy packaged them as I requested, & he was very helpful & polite.

I must agree that even with its renewed appearance inside, its not the nicest but this is a grocery store so it shouldn't matter. The deals in this store are what counts. The reason for the four stars is because it probably has the best prices around. Come here if you want the same groceries for less.

I live in another county and was reluctant to grocery shop in Perry because of the high number of COVID 19 cases in Dallas Co.. I decided to go to Fareway before I left town. SO disappointed in Fareway. Only 1/2 employees wearing masks. I quickly paid for my few items. There were 2 carry out people nearby. One was a male about 40-50 years of age. The other was a female , late teens, early 20s. Neither wearing masks. The Male asked if I wanted help carrying my items out. I politely said ,"No, thank you. You're not wearing a mask." Both carry out people started laughing. I was wearing a mask. I will not shop there again. There is another grocery store in Perry. I don't know their mask policy, but it couldn't be worse.

In Perry for the weekend, shopped twice at Gateway, got same clerk. First time she was busy talking to other employees and said 2 words to us: "there's that" as she handed us the receipt. Second visit, she replaced the clerk who greeted us, then handed us the receipt and said, "there's that." Apparently a limited vocabulary and 0 customer appreciation sense.

Sorry HyVee. Faraeway in Perry has you beat in produce. Everything fresh and crisp and so many choices. Much better than soggy cucumbers and slimy mushrooms

I don't shop there all the time mainly because it's not open 24/7. But when i want great deals on meat, this it's where i go. The meat is always really fresh and they have the best selection in town.

Had to go late @ night and didn't check out till 8:50 when they close @ 9. The employees were very friendly and didn't rush anyone out the door. Very clean and organized store with very nice employees.

I was really tired yesterday and we were short on coffee at home, so I stopped in the Fareway store in Perry to restock.. Not only did I find three brands on sale but I was so impressed with the level of energy and encouragement that my checkout clerk showed. I have always liked going to Fareway. The staff are helpful and it's easy to find everything you want. Their prices are higher which does deter me from going there regularly.

More expensive than the fareway stores around DesMoines. But the employees were helpful. They were out of items I was looking for. Found those at HyVee.
