What a lovely place. The staff was super kind and helpful; they were almost all volunteers who you could tell truly cared about the place and the animals. I took a sanctuary stroll and it was beautiful. I got to interact with lovely goats, chickens, ducks, cows, and pigs. They also had several signs outlining key facts about the animal agriculture industries, which I appreciate them not shying away from. The merchandise store had so many cute items. The owner was also around and you could tell how much she cares for and does this for the animals. Beautiful place with a great mission.

We had a great afternoon on the Sunday still. The volunteers were so friendly and it was nice to be able to feed and interact with the animals. My son loved the ducks and talked about them the whole way home. My personal favorite were the turkeys and cows. It’s a lovely farm and it’s great to see the animals that they rescued. It was an easy stroll around the farm and the animals were given a choice to be interactive or not, but I will say most came close because we had treats :)

We're always happy to visit! Shawn and Jared, as well as all of the helpers and volunteers are amazing people with giant hearts! It's been fun watching the animals and seeing how they've grown, and how their personalities have developed. So grateful for everything these guys do for the animals.

Stopped by a couple years ago, so glad to see an oasis of compassion care and respect for these beings in the sea of exploitation that is Iowa.I forget her name, but the story of one of the pigs being rescued from a transport truck after being discovered by the driver of said truck... she was found under the pile of feces and urine. Incredible.

Amazing place and the sweetest residents. Thank goodness a place like this exists here in the epicenter of American agriculture, where millions of animals never even get the chance to experience fresh air (until they are loaded onto slaughter trucks). Important and valuable work that everyone should support by visiting, spreading the word and donating.

I have not visited physically, but I follow the sanctuary on social media! I love what they do for the animals they rescue and the impact it has on their surrounding community. Giving families an opportunity to hang out with animals, in a safe and loving environment, is really neat! I try to donate when I can and I truly look forward visiting one day.

Not only are their animals sweet and adorable, their staff is full of warm, welcoming, and hard working individuals whose passionate for what they do is inspiring. It's clear that the needs of the animals are always their top priority and they put every ounce of effort into creating a comfortable, safe environment for all. I have been following IFS since they rescued the adorable piglet, Fern, who is now a beautiful grown pig. I meet the owners at the Pet expo last year. They are lovely people and what they are doing is so important! I grew up with farm animals, I miss them so much. They are beatiful intelligent and sometimes so ornery all you can do is laugh and appreciate how wonderful they are. We visited the farm yesterday and really enjoyed the experience. I grew up on a family owned hog farm in Nebraska and am very familiar with commercial livestock practices. It is important to become educated about all citizens’ views whether it be animal welfare or others. There is great love and compassion for animals on this farm and a tremendous learning experience for all.

Sometimes words aren’t enough. Sometimes you just have to visit a place to see for yourself.You have to take it in. You have to let it surround you. When you visit, you will leave with compassion. When you visit, you will leave as a changed person. If more places like this existed in the world, we’d be better off. Until that day, be thankful that a place like this exists in Iowa.

All of you are simply amazing. From your compassion to all animals, your dedication to your beliefs and to your enthusiasm in educating the public about the negative aspects in the animal agricultural industry that is so prominent here in Iowa. This is a wonderful place with friendly animals and people with the biggest, widest open hearts doing fantastic work bringing more compassion and joy into the world. I drove 4 1/2 hours each way to visit and it was well worth it. Thanks for doing what you’re doin, IFS!

Iowa Farm Sanctuary is a wonderful place and an amazing idea brought to life; the idea that animals should have lives of peace and joy rather than enduring suffering. IFS has rescued many farm animals and will rescue more. Best of all, they promote love and acceptance for all. Even people who make stupid jokes about bacon.

Wonderful people! After finding some domestic ducks someone had abandoned at a local park, I contacted the sanctuary and they were willing to take them in. They accepted the four ducks with open arms. Very kind and clearly love animals!

So grateful for this sanctuary in Marengo. Amazing staff who work tirelessly to give voice to the animals and tell their story. Open Barn days on Sundays are incredible and I love the cows!! Loved visiting this beautiful little sanctuary with my little sisters. The animals were all very cute and friendly and each had their own interesting stories. The owners of the place are lovely. Would recommend for kids and animal lovers of all ages.

This is a fantastic farm sanctuary. They have rescued many animals, including several with serious medical issues. The give the animals the best medical care and provide for all of their needs. This is a wonderful place to visit; a place of peace and love.

This place is wonderful! Highly recommend everyone visit this lovely place and tour the grounds. You can get a bag of veggies to feed the animals and when you run out, you can pick some more! If you can't visit soon, you can always donate and sponsor an animal.
