Housekeeping / Cleanliness Issues. Also, the maids are extremely loud in all the hallways, and systematically walk into your room without knocking or looking at the "Do Not Disturb" doorknob hanger. Manager there says they "have a training issue" and that it was no big deal. Offered a small points donation which was woefully inadequate and an insult. Charges close to $120 a night for a fifty dollar a night hotel stay experience. ** Follow Up to ASM-Olivia: Don't at all appreciate the back-talk and attempted weak rebuttal O' - I can see your trying to get in the last word is very important to you. Why don't you invest in some vacuum cleaners there that work?

Always a great stay. Not a lot to do nearby but the staff makes up for that with great attitudes and service. I've spent a lot of nights and keep coming back.Nearby activities: Not much but there is a Casino across the street.

Shocked this was Holiday Inn Express! First front desk clerk Jessie was rude, first room looked like one of the beds had been sat/laid on the floor was dirty not vacuumed, call the front desk and Jessie said she would have to see it she would be up. We waited 5 minutes she didn't show so we went to her and she wasn't making much effort to get up there, quickly she checked the room and gave another room , but said it was going to be the same, it was actually worse! Dirty socks included!!! Clean NOT.

2 stars, due to the price I paid and how dirty this hotel is. No hand sanitizing , everything was empty. Normally I don't bother with it, but this hotel is just dirty. Floors, walls, blinds, just disgusting. Never going back. Breakfast wasn't good.Walkability: Gas station next door

We get room offers from the Diamond Jo Worth casino across the street from this Holiday Inn Express, and typically stay at the "other" hotel that's directly attached to the casino. They were booked up, however, so we wound up staying at the Holiday Inn Express this time. Our room was clean and comfortable. Please see the "room" section below for specific details.The indoor pool and hot tub were nice. The pool was heated to a reasonable temperature, and the hot tub was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Of note, the hot tub timer button seemingly gave a random time of about 3-10 minutes of jets for every push, with no rhyme or reason as to why it would sometimes turn off very quickly after being activated. Pool towels are typically located in the pool area, although there weren't any when we went to use the hot tub. The front desk agent cheerfully got us some upon request, however.Finally, the staff here were all excellent. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and clearly took pride in their work. The woman in charge of breakfast was excellent, as was the woman who checked us in. Even the housekeeper said "hello" as we passed in the hallway. This was a nice change from the mostly indifferent staff we've encountered at the other hotel nearby.If you're visiting the nearby casino in a non-winter month, this hotel is a great choice as it's only a short walk away, just across the street and a parking lot. During bad weather it's just far enough that you'd want to drive over there and back.Overall, a great stay. We'll be back.Rooms: Our room (303) was clean and in good repair. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room which I didn't see listed on the website but was a nice amenity to have. The bedside lamps each had two standard electrical outlets built-in to plug in a cell phone charger or similar. The bed was comfortable and came with different firmness options for the pillows. The bathroom was clean and average size. The water pressure in the shower wasn't amazing, but it got the job done.Nearby activities: Diamond Jo Worth casino is across the street from this hotel. There's also an Iowa Welcome Center across the street. The city of Northwood is a few miles away and is accessible by car.Walkability: This hotel is basically in the middle of nowhere and primarily exists because of the nearby Diamond Jo Worth casino. Once you're at the hotel you're in reasonable walking distance to two nearby gas stations, a Burger King, the Iowa Welcome Center, and the Diamond Jo Worth casino. Anything else would require the use of a car to get to.Food & drinks: The included breakfast was very good! There was a large variety of hot and cold items including eggs, cheese omelettes, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, and on-demand pancakes from a machine that makes them at the push of a button. Additionally there were muffins, bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, milk, juices from a machine, and coffee with assorted creamers.For non-breakfast hours, there is a small convenience store of sorts next to the front desk with some food items available for purchase. There are also two gas stations within easy walking distance, one of which has a Burger King in it. The casino across the street also has some food options.

Very nice and thoughtful with how things are set up in the room and the whole layout . It even has a little store . Breakfast was good and they have a pancake printer that makes pancakes in a minute. This is the best holiday inn I have ever been too

** Pool is closed, Under maintenance. Which does suck but the guy at the front desk Jon was very polite and understanding about the situation and explained why.Overall great place to stay. Very convenient location especially if you been driving all day, right off freeway. Will admit the pricing is way to high in my opinion. Besides that, Check in was very quick and easy, Rooms were clean and comfy. Staff was friendly and welcoming, professional, friendly and engaging. The overnight person Jon was awesome. all smiles and a genuine nice and upbeat personality. The person who did the breakfast (I forgot her name) was nice, sweet and helpful.Basically saying yes it did suck the pool was closed but I would recommend this location for multiple reasons but if I was to pick only one it would simply be because of the Staff alone. Great job guys

Wonderful staff. I had reservations to stay there, but my mom passed away and was unable to. She passed away the day after I could have cancelled with no fees. They were wonderful, cancelled the reservation with no fee or charges. I know it’s not a huge deal, but it meant a lot to me when I was already going through so much. I appreciate them so much, and hopefully will get to stay there in the future.

Loved!! Great hotel! Check in fast and easy, very friendly front desk dude with long dark hair (wish I got his name). Everything was super clean, breakfast was good but the Bed and bedding OMG! The best ever!! I have never slept better anywhere anytime. I wish I could buy the whole thing, mattress, sheets, pillows all of it! So comfy...didn't want to get up. No question a great stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We had to stop for the night due to weather conditions and Bob at the front desk was very friendly, helpful, and understanding. The room was comfortable and clean and I appreciated having a bathroom with the sink in it which not many places seem to have. There was a great variety of hot breakfast which tasted amazing. The breakfast attendant kept everything fresh and was also friendly. Although I don't eat gluten free, there were options for that as well. All other staff throughout the evening and morning were fantastic as well. All around a good stay! Keeping them in mind if ever I need to travel through Northwood again

We were greeted with very friendly and welcoming staff. When asked if we can have our two rooms together (we had two separate reservations) this was done with no problems. We were informed of times for the pool, breakfast and complimentary laundry service. They even had laundry pods to give. The rooms were very nice. Clean, modern, and plenty of pillows. The view out the window showed green fields of grain. Very pretty for midwesterners (we are from Nebraska). Pool was nice and clean with comfortable water temps. Breakfast was great with plenty of food options. They had sugar free and gluten free foods too. Very grateful for a wonderful experience to end our 5 day road trip.

Staff is wonderful! There was a sudden loss of electricity in the area but the manager did great trying to keep us informed of when service would be back on; unfortunately the outlook didnt look good and cause my husband has sleep apnea which requires electricity we were offered a refund no problem. Manager handled all this great! Next time we are in the area we will be back!

Needed a place for the night while visiting family in Lake Mills and this hotel exceeded my expectations. Check in/out was easy and staff was very helpful and attentive. Room was clean, beds were comfortable, free breakfast was amazing. I overslept past check out, called the front desk for a late check out and they graciously allowed it without an extra charge. This was a superb experience.

When we came the rooms were poor the mattresses has stains, there was also multiple huge flys. They wait till 3:00pm to clean the rooms (every 5 days). Good service with dogs: 25$ fee not bad. Okay pool my rating:-7/100

Rooms could do with a bit of updating. Carpets need to be cleaned more often. Our last stay someone had a cat that peed on the carpet, at least it smelled like it. Only were staying one night, so we didn't make a big deal of it. The staff is super friendly and great. Always very helpful. No complaints about staff. The hotel is starting to show some age.

Loved it! Great place, amazing staff and service! Randy was a great a great help. We got there earlier than the check in time completely exhausted, and he gave us a room before check in ! Very helpful and nice man!Would definitely recommend !There's also a casino and a few stores right across the street.

1) Even though it's posted on your site, it would be nice to be verbally informed of issues like the pool is closed at the time of reservations.2) What hotel in 2022 DOES NOT have USB plug-ins in the rooms?! We had to go to the service station and drop $20 on a wall plug-in adapter.3) Your breakfast was pretty lousy. Mostly because you were blaring the fox channel from the tv which caused me to lose my appetite.Probably won't be back.

The hotel was clean and smelled like a spa. It was nice to have a place to relax after driving 13+ hours. Tina the night receptionist was very kind and sweet, offering us some chocolate chip cookies before we went to bed.

Ok so.. The staff is nice but our keys don't work so every time we left the room the keys did not work.Then there is that we could not go swimming at the pool here because some kid or adult pooped in there so everyone was mad about that and it takes two days to clean a freaking pool seriously! So I personally don't recommend staying here. our room smelled like cigars and topaco. Our beds we're not made.The room was trashed.

The staff at this hotel is excellent! They took great care of me in a bad situation that was my own fault. I booked through an online travel site and I booked for the wrong night. When I got there, they took my card and gave me a room and said they would try to sort it out with the travel site. In the morning, they asked me to call the site I booked with and that company wanted to charge me a higher rate for the room. Donna let me know that the rate the hotel was going to charge me was less than what I had booked online, so I just canceled the online booking and paid $25 less than I had originally planned! They even removed my credit card info the night before to avoid charging me by accident when the staff changed in the morning. I will be calling them directly to book this hotel when I travel this direction in the future. Thank you.

The usual Holiday Inn experience. Many improvements since the renovations were finished, and the staff is excellent. Finally got a room with a fridge, but the WiFi on the third floor is just terrible, and the showers still need something in the bottom of the tub for traction. Breakfast isnt served til 6:30, which doesnt make sense since most of the clientele in this area is construction workers who have to be somewhere by then!
