Nice little store to stop and get what you need. The fruits and vegetables are fresh.Theres a large selection of canned foods as well as frozen.Theres also a nice variety of Meat, poultry to choose from.The employees are curious and helpful.

This was my first time going since they implemented self check out. I find it ridiculous that I am expected to check out my own groceries but not aloud to walk them to my car unaccompanied because of a cart. So now the real reason is shown behind their courtesy help, not to be courteous but to make sure no one steals a grocery cart.

Fareway, particularly in Newton, has undergone some recent renovations, both inside and to the exterior of the store. However, not all of these have been for the better. What used to be a "country" grocery store has now been replaced with self-checkout registers, which leads to fewer cashiers to actually check out groceries. This leads to longer wait times and frustrated shoppers. You can literally stand at the checkout and watch people, especially senior citizens, rage because if they wanted to check out their own groceries, they'd have filled out an application to work there! Shame on Fareway!

What a great store! Well laid out, the parking lots on two side mean you can pop right in and get what you need and zip right back out without hassle.I almost never have things I can't find, the produce is consistently fresh, and the meat counter is the stuff of champions. This is the perfect sized store for me. It doesn't take an hour and half to get all the things I shop for, and they're not trying to herd me like cattle into self-check lanes.Also, I truly appreciate that they value Sundays enough to not force their employees to work that day. That relays to me a posture of character and caring, and I hold that in great esteem.

This store reminds me of the grocery stores in the 50s and 60s. The meat department is worth a check out if nothing else.

Signs above items don’t ring up as tag says then kid working there argues with you. This Fareway in Newton is getting just as bad as Walmart the only thing good there anymore is the meat department but overall with the store nowadays I will shop elsewhere and go to closest meat locker from now on

I love this store so much! Recently, I dropped a gallon of milk in the parking lot, and milk gushed everywhere. An employee saw my predicament, carried the still-leaking gallon to the dumpster, got me a replacement gallon, and even offered to wash the interior of my car where some milk had splashed--all with a very kind, reassuring attitude. It may be true what they say--there's no use crying over spilt milk... but when someone responds to a situation like that with such poise and professionalism, the least I can do is give a shout out to them for making my day so much better.

Very expensive but I go for the meat dept usually and pick up a couple extra things. Too expensive to do regular shopping. Service is great!!!

It is pretty much your typical grocery store, except their meat counter has the best quality beef, pork, and chicken in town. They have a pretty good selection of all of the basics. We stop here at least weekly and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved my experience with Fareway. I came in and was immediately greeted and asked how I was doing. The products and prices were Great. I got prices that were far better than the competition. Finally when on my way out they carried out my groceries to car despite my protesting.Very pleased with my visit there and will definitely be shopping there again!

....I am so pleased ( and appreciative!) that this local Fareway is expanding the " organic" and healthy items ! More Organic produce would be great, was so thrilled to find Organic strawberries in my previous shopping trip ! Staff is friendly- always- and a better selection of Frozen Pies would be nice, as well. ( Marie Callenders Lemon Meringue)

I really like that they are getting a good selection of gluten free flours/ and other gluten free items. That means " shopping local ", rather than go to Des Moines and Ankeny. However, there is not a good selection of cheese....as in WHITE sharp cheddar, and extra sharp cheddar. I don't want the store brand. I noticed some really good flavored cheeses( Merlot; garlic and olive; and s few others). So I'm not sure why Fareway can't get Tillamook cheeses, ....it would be nice to not have to go to Des Moines to get it !!!The atmosphere, however , is good. And the guys at the meat counter are great .Update: No longer carry the Dei Fratelli Tomato Soup, which I'd been buying there for at least 2 1/2 years. Disappointing. They have the other Dei Fratelli Tomato products, but no Tomato Soup.

Installing new signs on the store, part of the ceiling was down and lights were off and yet you could still get in and shop with little to no hassle.

Fruits and vegetables were fresh and nice looking meat counter was very helpful. Checker was very polite and friendly carry out person was friendly, took care in how they were placed in the trunk.

There is nothing better than the Fareway meat department. No one else’s meat is as good. It’s just how it is. HYVEE is pretty close but just barely loses out to Fareway in my opinion. Walmart is just trash (those are the 3 options for meat in Newton). Customer service is great. They actually will put your groceries in your car for you which is great for older or disabled individuals. Great place and probably one of the better Fareways I have been to in Iowa.
