This is a place that settles in to a small town that doesn't have options.You go there, try to look around, (whilst navigating between stacks of inventory boxes blocking isles,)* because corporate policy is greed *so, being constantly understaffed, there's never enough time to put product away,And never quite find what you want because options are not an option.You get what they have when they have it.This store makes you think you're saving money bc of the name, but you're NOT.You pay more for less. Product sizes are smaller, quality is poorer- check dates! Also, check freshness regardless of date.We bought hotdogs that had an expiration date of 2 months ahead- got home- and they were GREY. Grey is NOT the proper color for a hot dog, my friends.Went back and was hassled for a refund. We could get new grey hotdogs or nothing.I'm not even ragging on the staff. They're underpaid, overworked and are ruled by their corporate overlords.My beef is not with this particular store, it's with corporate policy.People want to shop here bc of local convenience, but maybe just drive the 15 miles to a better store, get lower prices for bigger items. Maybe they wont even be grey

It is a super welcoming place! I'm often going there regularly regardless if i need something or not. I go there when i need to relax and just take my mind off things or if i need to think. It is quiet so i can think about things and i often leave with a treasure or two!

Nashua's Dollar General is the superior Dollar General in my area. I live in New Hampton and I tried going to New Hampton's DG for toilet paper and laundry products. Nobody knew where the laundry baskets were or if they even had any because the store was such a mess and if you want tp, forget it. You will have to move numerous carts of products, that have been waiting weeks to be set out, before even being able to get to it. Charles City is an absolute nightmare as well. Nashua keeps their store free and clear of clutter and I'm impressed with how well they are able to keep their store looking so nice. Not a cart to be seen. Great job Nausha! You should be proud. Other Dollar General Stores, Do Better!

I tried to download the app to get a digital coupon and the zip code came up with the closest store many miles away even though I was standing inside the store. None of the store employees could tell me the address so I could type that in. They did know the name of the city which I also knew and they were generally helpful but made me pay full price and I did not get the coupon

I am literally standing outside this store right now, the doors are wide open. Employees are here. But I cant go in for 2 more minutes because "they dont open til 8." Employee ran off a couple because the store doesn't open for 5 more minutes. 🙄🙄🙄 I really miss the days when humans were allowed to be humans.

If you are a man DO NOT APPLY FOR A JOB! Manager is sexist and extremely rude to customers asking her a simple question. I quit after being promised a promotion after said promotion was given to a new hire not even two weeks later. Joyce does not belong here as a manager. She is sexist

I shop at this store multiple times a week and often spend $100 or more each time I go. Up until today, I was happy with the service and the overall experience. Well that changed today when I stopped in after work - I wanted to get some of my favorite cookies. They were out of them, which is no big deal...I just went with my 2nd favorite. I also grabbed a thing of fig bars. As I was standing in line, which now had 4 people waiting, one employee walked past me and announced to the person checking that she was going to the bathroom. Which I didnt think was the best timing on her part but not my concern since I wasn't in a hurry. As it was my turn to check out my sweet tooth got the best of me and I grabbed a Milky Way from the rack by the register and put it down with my other 2 items.I got checked out and when I got in my car I opened the cookies. I ate a couple on the way home (Which is only about 5 miles away) and as I pulled into my drive and parked I decided to open the candy bar.It was then that I discovered I was to late....someone had already opened the candy bar and taken a bite out of it! I immediately called Dollar General to let them know to check the other candy bars (my first thought was some kid taste tested a few while waiting in line) so they didnt have other customers have this experience. Well it was what followed that has got me a bit upset. The girl that answered the phone, which was the one who had to use the bathroom while customers waited in line, answered the phone. (I go to this store enough I know their voices and names but have chosen to leave out the names) I told her what happened and that I was calling to notify them so they could check the other candy bars. She acted like I was making it up - like I was lying - being condescending and I quote, "We check our inventory when we come on shift so I dont know how it could have been opened. How did you not notice that when you picked it up?The cashier would have noticed that when she rung it up." Then she asked the cashier if she remembered someone that come in and got 2 things of cookies and a candy bar a little bit ago. To which the cashier said "No."SERIOUSLY I was there less than 5 minutes ago!!! I told her I wasn't imagining it- I was looking at it. Then I offered to bring it in to which she ignored and asked how I didnt feel a difference in the candy bar when I picked it up. I said I held it for 2 seconds but when I come back into town I will bring it as it has clearly been opened for awhile (the chocolate is discolored). She said, "Well you can."So after I take it in and see how it is handled I will finish my review...Well I returned to Dollar General with the candy bar and my receipt. I stood and waited in the checkout. I rang the bell and the one girl that checked me out the first time came to the register. As she walked up she said, "Oh you're back again." I said, "Yep." and then she saw the candy bar laying on the counter and she says oh you're the one with the candy bar. yep I'm That Girl she asked if I wanted my money back. I said I really don't care at this point but where is the girl that I talk to you on the phone? She said she was in the back I said well that's probably a good place for her. Another customer was getting in line after me and it was someone I knew and more importantly someone that knew me cause she knew by my tone and comment that I wasn't happy. I explained briefly what had went on in hopes the message would get relayed to "Courtney" that accusing a customer of lying over an $0.85 candy bar was not very good business practice. There is one thing in this world that gets my blood boiling faster than anything else and that is being called or accused of being a liar. This experience will hopefully be an example to others on what NOT to do when you answer a phone call from a customer. So for whatever it is worth this was my experience at DG today.

Tried to call for an hour during business hours but keep getting message after 1 ring that their too busy with customers to answer the phone....i appreciate them being open in our small town but this is pretty poor service, I'll just go somewhere else.
